Wow... he looks VERY cuttable after this season. :)
:goodposting: You know, for all this talk about Maroney vs. Williams, a certain Maurice Drew is being overlooked as a value play. Hes going very late if at all in bigger leagues and is only an injury away (just like these guys) from significant playing time. Even if Taylor is healthy, temper your expectations for him.

Yes I do know about Greg Jones and to be honest, I think he's a fine fine back. its just that the Jags offensive line has played very badly, in camp and in the preseason games, and Im not sure a one-dimensional running attack will cut it this season. Heck, theyre still experimenting at THREE positions. Both guards have had protection problems and RT Mo Williams is being burned time after time. Expect a lot of dumps and screens to Drew as they will try to utilize his speed to compensate for the breakdown in protection.

Jones simply wont fare well if the o-line is playing like this. Drew, OTOH, will probably end up faring better because of his elusiveness. Fantasy wise, his value takes a further bump when you factor in PPR.

Dont color me surprised if he ends up outproducing one of the two listed above. Dillon and Foster have looked too good for me to think they will be phased out of the offense completely. If you held a gun to my head Id go with Williams simply because of his situation.

Time to bump this thread. Both of these guys have serious upside for 2006. Let the August analysis commence.
Williams isn't going to beat out Deshaun Foster. He's going to need Foster to get injured again in order to get his chance to take the reigns. If past injuries are any indication, there's a decent shot that might happen. But Foster is still relatively young, so who knows?Dillon is the starter in New England. They aren't in a rush to get Maroney going, and have the opportunity to develop his skill set throughout the year. He should get 5-6 carries per game on average, IMO.
Good bump Routilla, as there is some pro analysis in this thread IMO.Still believe Foster is on the bench soon after the season starts, injury or not.
Not a chance w/o an injury. Foster looked head and shoulders better than DW in game one.

The Panthers have shown a slightly greater commitment to the run over the past 4 years than the Patriots have.
I'm wary of a stat like that when you are talking about Belichick. The guy is a winner because he puts his players in the best position to win. If in the future putting the Patriots in the best position to win means running the ball a lot more, I think Belichick will just adapt and do that instead.

I agree and see that coming with the Pats this year with Branch holding out and now Dillon-Maroney-Branch to mix it up with.I just always have to look at history for context and trends before looking ahead to the future.I do still see the Panthers as a better defense than the Pats this year so I see the Panthers being in a better position to sustain the running game by protecting scoring than I see the Pats being able to do the same. BB game plan will also have to adapt when the opposing team gets a lead on them...
