So last week I think about 77% of pollsters started Colston. Oops. Of course, based on comments a large % of those sitting him started Cotchery. Double oops.

With one goose egg under his belt upon return, it's time to poll Colston owners once again and see what they plan to do with him in the game across the pond.

I think this week I might actually roll the dice with him. Bush being out I think makes a difference in targets. Of course, all Colston owners should (and likely will) be checking updates throughout the week to keep track of setbacks/improvements.

I like to have guys returning from injury have 1 productive game before I start them. Of course, my alternative is Antonio Bryant, who might as well be coming back from injury.

think i am sitting him for garrad this week. everything pointed to him having no issues with his thumb lastweek and look what happened. probably will bench him until after the bye week.

also not sure of the weather in london. i remember that slopfest with the giants lastyear.

started him last week due to bye weeks. and obviously that didn't turn out the way we had all hoped. i can't see the trip over the pond being advantageous to him. fool me once, but he sits until i see he can actually catch the balls being thrown his way. and now he says he wasn't as far along as he had thought. that's the clincher.

fitz, smoss, and rwhite would all get the nod over him right now.

Starting him with the expectation that he may not do much, but with chance to catch lightening in a bottle. Wtth Marshall on a bye I feel more confident with Colston than with Kevin Walter.

Ummmm....lets not forget the Panthers are Good, mmkay!!!! They were ready for a rusty guy, Chargers I don't think will fair so well, not to mention that he was limited in practice last week, he won't be this week!!!

it's not the rusty part i am concerned about. the balls were all easily catchable balls and he just could not grip it. had it just been 1 drop fine, but it was every ball that hit his hands.

Well lets see:

Long trip/flight overseas

Was clearly not on the same page as his QB last week(taken out of the game because of this)

Sounds like he play with the splint/wrap on his thumb for one more week

Possible Shockey plays, move Colston down some more

Someone previous brought up weather this could be factor

To much risk again this week IMO.

I be starting Holmes again.

I see good things after the bye week :football:

Starting him over Holt. Byes are an issue. I'd prefer to see him do something before starting, but I'll take his potential for a big week versus the small number of almost certain points I'd get for Holt.

Im not 100% convinced that Colston is healthy. I have Lance Moore as well. I am probably going to sit both because I know whichever one I sit will probably go off.

I think it is going to take Colston another week to get his timing down and the game speed down. The traveling and field conditions are a huge aspect as well. The game last year there was a nightmare.

I am starting him. Marshall and Berrian on bye. I would love to see him produce before I get him in there, but I will need to use him this week.

Put me in the "waiting to see a good game from him" crew. I started him last week (over camarillo) and I came real close to losing that game. I have Chambers as well, so I am picking up M Floyd as insurance.

Stop mocking me with these polls!!! I have to start him!!! What else can can I do?! Damn you, damn you to hell!!!

/ok maybe that was a little over the top. maybe.

Note the bolded. Tangentially, there is a bit about Bush in there.

Saints' Colston hopes to return to form in London

By MATTIAS KAREN – 5 hours ago

WATFORD, England (AP) — Marques Colston hopes England is the right place to rediscover his rhythm.

The New Orleans Saints wide receiver was as surprised as many fans about his poor performance in a 30-7 loss to the Panthers, when he dropped two balls and finished without a reception on his return from a five-game injury layoff.

With running back Reggie Bush out injured and renewed questions about tight end Jeremy Shockey's health, Colston knows he can't afford a repeat performance against the San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

"This week I definitely want to make a lot of progress," Colston said after finishing practice outside the team's five-star country resort northwest of London. "This is an important game for the team, and a game I have to step up and play well in, so I fully expect that."

Colston, the team's top receiver the last two seasons, played with a small plastic splint on his surgically repaired left thumb against Carolina.

"I fully expected to come in and pick up right where I left off, and obviously that didn't happen for me," he said. "I just didn't have a good day. You have those every once in a while, and hopefully it's a long time before I have another one."

He wasn't the only receiving threat who struggled. Shockey, who returned after having surgery on a sports hernia, lost a fumble that led to a touchdown for the Panthers and later complained about how team doctors handled his injury.

Shockey sat out Wednesday's practice, but is expected to play Sunday.

Quarterback Drew Brees said he expects his favorite targets to return to form quickly.

"I'm not worried one bit about either of those guys," Brees said. "It's only a matter of time before we get back on the same page and take our game to another level, even better than we have been before."

Bush had surgery Monday to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee, and coach Sean Payton said the team was unlikely to announce a return date until after the bye week.

"We'll have to wait through this initial time when he's off of it," Payton said. "The good news is that it was just the meniscus and that's something that shouldn't be too long."

In Bush's absence, Colston isn't the only offensive player looking to step up his game. Veteran Deuce McAllister is expected to be the main running threat, with Pierre Thomas and Aaron Stecker also taking an increased number of snaps.

"It's the one challenge we have, but it's something where we'll count on other guys that play his same position," Payton said.

The Saints will practice Thursday and Friday at Premier League soccer club Arsenal's nearby training ground before Sunday's game, which is meant to showcase the NFL to the British audience. With the Saints listed as the "home" team, there are also a number of festivities to promote New Orleans as a tourist destination for Europeans.

But with both teams at a disappointing 3-4 and heading into a bye week, there is no doubt the Saints' season is on the line as well.

"We came over here knowing that this is pretty much a must-win game for us," Colston said. "We have the bye week next week, and just to go in with a win could set our season back on the right track."

Well, with the news on Cotchery, I might be in the same boat, even though I had wanted to wait-and-see. Who would have thought I would immediately regret dropping Antonio Bryant last week?

Looks like he's not even listed on the injury report this week for the Saints! That can only be good news... Now if they can contend with the wind in London is another story...

I watched most of the game. Colston wasnt out there for ALOT of plays. I guess they were taking it slowly with him and using him as a decoy. Thankfully the bye week is here and hopefully things will turn around afterwards.

What's the deal with him not being in the 1 or 2WR sets?! Inconsistent D Henderson is starting ahead of Colsten!? Playing more snaps!!

Colsten wasn't even on the injury report this week- has had 3 weeks of practice.. its seems like he should be in his normal spt. I can't believe he has been demoted?

I think that this week 9 bye will benefit him greatly. He has a chance to continue to mend and yet get back a rhythm with Brees. I'm expecting big things after the break. We'll see, though.

Just because he's not on the injury report doesn't mean he's fully healed.

He's junk, not even startable imo. :goodposting:

If he can play 15 snaps though and make any catches, than his finger must be able to withstand the pressure of a pass... his conditioning should be back by now-- plenty of players come back from longer layoffs and go right back into the lineup... I just think its strange Payton specifically declared Moore starter over Colsten. Moore has played well, but I can't imagine he has supplanted Colsten.. right?

He already stated that he was uncomfortable when he first came back. Not with the thumb... but with the routes. I am sure that he will be good to go after the bye. I don't see why NO would rush him back at all though... it isn't as if Brees is struggling without him.

The routes?! I can understand the game speed arguement, but the routes are the same he's been running for two years!!! + They are now playing him in the 3rd Wr or slot role which is completely different routes than he has run in the past...

It's all about timing.

true- but I would think he would get his timing back better if he was playing in his normal position, normal game situations... Running slot wR routes once or twice a series isn't going to do it.
