The Brian Billick on the D side of things rode the Ravens D talent to a coaching job....and today his great D gave up 5 TDs to Derek Anderson and 200+ yards to Jamal Lewis. That D actually gave Jamal a >10 yard run.....how does a D give up a >50 yard TD run to Jamal Lewis?

Oh, and the Bengals D rankings since Lewis took over:

2003 = 28th

2004 = 19th

2005 = 28th

2006 = 30th

2007 = ???

They seem headed for bottom 5 in 2007..... :thumbup:

He may or may not be a D mastermind. One that that is w/o question, he has no talent on that Bungles D.

Billick is supposed to be a offensive genius and look at the Ravens since he has been there. Wade Phillips the defensive genius Cowboy's got lit up week 1.It seems you can expect the opposite when a offensive/defensive genius comes to town.

Embarrassed doesn't even begin to describe how Lewis should feel. His offense scored 45 points against the Browns and his team lost. What a joke.

What a great game to watch though. Those offensive shootouts with close to 100 total points can be so much fun sometimes.

But Vs the Browns?? Thats pretty embarrassing :goodposting:
The Brownies are not as far off as people think. They have a vastly improved OLine and legitimate targets in Braylon, KWII and JJ. JLew still looks tentative at the line at times but showed me that he has the same speed that he did when he was in his prime. Derek Anderson actually overthrew and misspotted a lot of balls and Braylon, KWII and JJ made some awesome catches today. That being said, the Bengirls failed to do anything that remotely resembled what a real blitz should be like today. You can't do that on a guy make his 4th career start. DA isn't the answer but I think the Browns have good promise when Brady is finally ready.

Great analysis. It would have some validity if he was the defensive coordinator and not the head coach.

That whole "defensive-minded coach who took over a team exploding with offensive weapons, but entirely lacking quality defensive players, who tried to use his knowledge to simply hold the defense together while the offense carried the team as far as it would go" script worked out pretty well. Replace "defense" with "offense" and vice versa and you've got the story of Billick and Gruden's careers. I think too much emphasis is placed on what side of the ball a coach comes from (remember, it's pretty fluid- coaches switch from offense to defense easily during their careers), and not enough on how the team performs as a whole.

Fun fact: Cincinnati has 35 wins in its 4 seasons under Lewis. In the SEVEN seasons prior, it had 34 wins. Regardless of how the defense has fared, he's obviously doing SOMETHING right.

Depends on who you have going and who is against you
Well I had Chad Johnson.....just traded for him this week to (because I know you were dying to know) so I was stoked

For all the Bengals fans out there, don't get all caught up in the Bengals suck comments. Browns fans heard the same thing last week. Most of the guys down on ya will change their minds next week when the wind blows a different direction.

The Browns will be lucky to score 51 points combined over the next few weeks. The Bengals schemes made it look like they played with 9 guys. A good QB would have had 80 points yesterday. It may have been the worst defensive performance in the history of the NFL.

Well in all fairness both the Browns and Bengals suck. ;)
