That should be an eye-opener.And a registered Democrat. This is not your typical ISIS guy.

Pretty sure that's exactly the point that was being made at the start of this.Yeah those guys don't speak for all Christians. Just like terrorists don't speak for all Muslims.
I think we can agree that anybody who commits such a crime is by definition mentally ill, so the ability to care about "loved ones" may be beyond their capacity. An unsung victim here. These tragedies have multiple horrific dimensions. Don't even know what to say.
Man ... when you have a wife and child to think about ... you just gotta beat back that urge to hurt those who offend you personally. Even if you really do believe deep down that "they deserve to die" and that "they are wrong, I am righteous". Because it's not just you facing repercussions (or in the case, dying) -- it's those who depend on you, too.
Just thinking/typing "out loud" here. I know that the perpetrators of these killings are just so deep down in their own heads that they aren't able to think outside of themselves about their families anymore.
Disagree -- no political party is monolithic. And human beings, on an individual level, are pretty much always inconsistent if you closely examine their gamut of privately-held beliefs. That should be an eye-opener.
ISIS believes in lower taxes and smaller government. And a registered Democrat. This is not your typical ISIS guy.
Well, I agree with you actually. I just pointed that out because in so many of these shooting what happens is the first thing everyone on the political left tries to do is pin it on the political right.Disagree -- no political party is monolithic. And human beings, on an individual level, are pretty much always inconsistent if you closely examine their gamut of privately-held beliefs.
And if the shooter is a Muslim? What does the political right try to do in that event?Well, I agree with you actually. I just pointed that out because in so many of these shooting what happens is the first thing everyone on the political left tries to do is pin it on the political right.
He's not trying to align himself with a mass murderer. He's suggesting that the country/world's rejection of HIS values has led to this evil. It's a total, "I was right" barb. Pure ego and pure stupidity at work.I agree with that. Just seems asinine for a politician to align himself with a mass murderer.
I don't know. Please tell me.And if the shooter is a Muslim? What does the political right try to do in that event?
Had a shootout with a first responder outside the club then went back in and reportedly had 30 hostages. They regrouped, setup then swat stormed the club with an armored vehicle through the front door and took him out.First shots happened at 2 am. He wasn't killed until 5 am! 3 hours is a hell of a lotta time in there.
More of a hate crime than a terror crime. Targeted a specific group of people due to religious beliefs.Interesting headlines:
NBCnews.com: At least 50 dead after 'terrorism' at Orlando Gay Club
ABCNews: At least 50 dead in Orlando Gay Club Massacre
CNN.com: NIGHTCLUB TERROR
Odd that NBC would put Terrorism in quotes - like its not really terrorism
Also disturbing that NBC and ABC included that it was a Gay club in the headline. Not really sure why that is necessary. It may be part of the story, but I don't think its the headline - when 50+ people are dead.
Seems like a pretty relevant part of the story. Lots of people just read headlines. Makes sense to me.Interesting headlines:

ABCNews: At least 50 dead in Orlando Gay Club Massacre
CNN.com: NIGHTCLUB TERROR

There's nothing worse than Dan Patrick. Nothing.
If that's the case, then there's a good chance the survivors might be able to tell us if this guy said anything and what his motivations were.Had a shootout with a first responder outside the club then went back in and reportedly had 30 hostages. They regrouped, setup then swat stormed the club with an armored vehicle through the front door and took him out.
Did they say what he was being investigated for?just caught Brett Baker on FOX reporting that this ######## Mateen was under FBI investigation from 2913-14, but was discontinued
Come on, no bull#### here - there is a strong virulent strain of hate (especially toward the LGBT community) from large swarths of certain religious groups - the reality is the Christian Zealot shares more with the Muslim (and Jewish) Zealot than they do with the mainstream of those within that umbrella religious group.Yeah those guys don't speak for all Christians. Just like terrorists don't speak for all Muslims. Funny how some of preachers on their high horse paint groups with a broad brush. We all do it at times. Judgmental ### society too.
not at this time, but he was being looked at for the better part of a yearDid they say what he was being investigated for?
I dunno. If they don't mention that it was a gay bar, I can imagine there would be people upset that they didn't mention it.Well, it rubs me the wrong way.50+ people are dead. Straight or Gay that is a horrific headline. Adding the Gay club makes it look like - "don't worry, its only the Gays that are being attacked".
At this point we don't know the motivation of the killer - we assume it was hate related, but I have not seen anything other than a report from his dad that he hated two guys kissing.
I see the opposite of that.Well, it rubs me the wrong way.50+ people are dead. Straight or Gay that is a horrific headline. Adding the Gay club makes it look like - "don't worry, its only the Gays that are being attacked".
Some Liberal starts barking in every Islamic terrorism attack thread about Christians. So nothing out of the ordinary here.Guy makes a comment about motivations of this incident and you turn it around on Christians. Liberals have a funny way of practicing what they preach.
agreedI see the opposite of that.
Thanks and keep sharing any info.Apparently, his parents lived about a mile from my house. Roads are shut down. They are investigated their house as well as his in Fort Pierce. Crazy.
The tricky part is that ISIS, AQ, and other organizations are happy to inspire lone crazed individuals to do their dirty work. Why train and financially support direct operatives when people just up and volunteer to cause the exact disruption you want to foment?I think it's fine to leave it in the headline. I'm more concerned with using the word "terrorism" because that strongly implies a planned effort from a group like ISIS or al-Qaeda, rather than an act of a lone crazed individual. At this point we don't seem to have any idea if that's the case.
Lines out down around corners and around buildings to give blood. Proud of the outpouring in Orlando and happy to call it my home.

Hey buddy. People are referring to Dan PAtrick and Pat Robertson's comments when referring to Christinas here. Wouldnt expect you to be able to properly read and comprehend anything thoughI haven't been on this site in almost five months. But I couldn't resist taking a peek at how the denizens of the FFA would respond to 50 people at a gay club being mowed down by a Muslim.
Answer: Christians are bad.
Next up, the NRA and Donald Trump's "hateful rhetoric" will also be blamed. You people are certifiably f-ing insane. Back to retirement. Hasta nunca.

Looking forward to the next 3 months that you're goneplace had to have been cased, and this was probably in the offing for awhile ... no one goes in willy-nilly and inflicts that kind of carnage on the spur of the moment.
reading that there was hostage situation before scumbag was killed, so there was most likely prior knowledge of exits, doorways, etc
####### sickening
You haven't been missed. Make it longer next time.I haven't been on this site in almost five months.
why would I be gone? am I missing something here?Looking forward to the next 3 months that you're gone
Feel free to not pop in again with your inane comments the next time the country suffers a tragedy.I haven't been on this site in almost five months. But I couldn't resist taking a peek at how the denizens of the FFA would respond to 50 people at a gay club being mowed down by a Muslim.
