Mass Shooting at Orlando Nightclub (1 Viewer)

You knew the shooter?
Yea. Went to my gym. A lot of my friends went to school with him. He was an honor student and a little weird. He also went to police academy a few years ago, I believe. I didn't have a relationship with the dude, just seen him a few times and knew who he was. The FBI is at his house right now. It's all over the local news down here.

wow, peter king seemed to allude to that... said he had weapons training but he didn't go deeper.

What had he been up to?

Saw a MSNBC report that his father said he was disturbed by seeing 2 guys kissing in Miami and had a problem with gays. Such a sad 24 hours for the Orlando area.

From the press conference, they said he had 30 hostages, who were saved, when the standoff began and swat team rushed the club to take him out.

I have no clue. Like I said, I have seen the guy around many times and knew who he was. I never spoke to him or anything like that. A good friend of mine graduated with him and said he was an honor student and quiet. Another friend went to police academy with him and said he couldn't stand the guy. None of this means anything, it's just crazy that this guy lived here.

Muslims have zero tolerance for homosexuals.

No I know, I appreciate you sharing.  I guess his father said he was married with a kid and I guess he worked for some security firm now.

Was he, for the lack of a better term, westernized, as far as you know or have heard?  Or did he wear traditional dress?

Add Pat Robertson to the vile piece of garbage that Lt Gov Patrick represents.  These people are barely any better than the shooter himself, all but wishing for this to happen.

The sheer inhumanity of so many literally pains me.

That's really relevant to this.
His father said he has a problem with gays. There might be many people who have a problem with gays...but how many shoot 100 gays and kill 50?  To me that is a serious problem with gays.

That may be true but the Taliban executes homosexuals.
So what you meant to say, perhaps, is that Islamists (extreme, radical Islamic believers) believe homosexuals should be put to death- and you would be correct.

But at this point we don't know if this guy is one of those, or if he is anti-gay of a more Americanized variety, or mentally ill, or whatever. Actually we don't even know if his motivation was anti gay to begin with (though this last seems likely.)

Guy makes a comment about motivations of this incident and you turn it around on Christians. Liberals have a funny way of practicing what they preach.
Unfortunately, some very prominent "Christians" have done it to themselves.  See Lt. Gov Patrick and Pat Robertson for starters, essentially celebrating those who "reap what they sow" - when all they "sowed" was being who they are as individuals, and doing no harm to others.

Sadly, the words themselves of such evil and hate filled people DO actually inflict and spread harm to others. When is their reaping to come, as those with hearts and humanity weap?

An unsung victim here. These tragedies have multiple horrific dimensions. Don't even know what to say.

Man ... when you have a wife and child to think about ... you just gotta beat back that urge to hurt those who offend you personally. Even if you really do believe deep down that "they deserve to die" and that "they are wrong, I am righteous". Because it's not just you facing repercussions (or in the case, dying) -- it's those who depend on you, too.

Just thinking/typing "out loud" here. I know that the perpetrators of these killings are just so deep down in their own heads that they aren't able to think outside of themselves about their families anymore.

He wore normal clothes. Seemed like a normal dude. I really don't think he was a terrorist, but I'm sure the FBI knows a bit more than me.

Not sure how this will all play out politically, but this is now officially the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. in nearly 70 years.

I know what you're saying, but just to play devil's advocate isn't it possible he's talking about the gunman reaping now what he sowed last night?
No.

And on the one in a million chance you may be correct, then I'd expect that person to send a tweet clarifying their position ASAP.

Yeah those guys don't speak for all Christians. Just like terrorists don't speak for all Muslims. Funny how some of preachers on their high horse paint groups with a broad brush. We all do it at times. Judgmental ### society too.

I agree with that.  Just seems asinine for a politician to align himself with a mass murderer.
