Thanks for contribution nothing. So glad I don't own him this year. His owners are always hopeful because the guy has talent but they also cringe every time he gets tackled. I've been there, I know how it feels. Sorry.

He's a troll on the entire forum. He never posts anything relevant to any thread and spends a majority of his time trying to rile up owners with bait posts. And he's been doing it for years. Embarrassing. Not getting any better. At what point do they go back to Jackie Battle for a spark?Chargers 0-2 in games when Mathews gets the majority of carries.Could you be a bigger troll in this thread?

Ryan Mathews set a career-high with 16 first-half touches in Monday's loss to the Broncos.Even though he lost a lot of third-down snaps to Ronnie Brown, Mathews was a workhorse and just missed a fistful of big plays. Perhaps most importantly, he hasn't fumbled since Week 3, is clearly back in the good graces of the coaching staff and is healthy. "I'm reading the holes well," Mathews said afterward. "I'm blocking well and receiving well and taking care of the ball well. I just have to do a better job of staying on my feet when I see daylight." He'll be a strong RB1 when the Chargers come out of their bye.
Their master plan should be winning gamesHave a feeling that post bye R. Brown is out as the third down back.Could see this as part of their master plan:Step 1: Punish him. Make him hungry.Step 2: Begin giving him 50% of carries.Step 3: Give him lion's share, but hold back just a little.Step 4: Give him the whole load after the bye.And if step 4 wasn't part of the original plan, it may be now after this loss. I'm highly invested in Mathews, but this sounds like wishful thinking. Brown has been effective and Mathews is getting a substantial workload as is. As nice as a few extra receptions or the coveted 10 yard runs on 3rd and 20 would be, I see no incentive for the Chargers to move away from Brown being in on 3rd downs. To say Mathews might be in on the no huddle after the bye would make sense, though. Seeing him on the sidelines during the critical moments of the game is laughable.Have a feeling that post bye R. I'd say their incentive is to get the ball in the hands who could take it to the house at any time.Brown isn't that guy.And Brown certainly isn't a better receiver than Mathews. What SHOULD happen is Battle gives Mathews a breather on short yardage here and there and Brown does the same by rotating in on 3rd down's here and there.KYI'm highly invested in Mathews, but this sounds like wishful thinking. Believe me, it would be nice for my fantasy teams if this were to occur, but Mathews is getting plenty of touches. He got 26 last night. If we're going to b**** and whine about something, it should be his usage. Those predictable 1st and 10 runs right up the gut weren't fooling anyone. And the screens were sniffed out quickly as well. If he'd gotten 22 carries against New Orleans that would've been awesome and no one would be worried about him getting 3rd down receptions. Even with the early shenanigans, he's still on a 16 game pace of 232 carries and 68 receptions. If these touches are better planned and he's well rested due to the relief on third downs, then we Mathews owners should and will be a happy bunch.I'm not even sure this is worth talking to you about because you've got your Mathews owner homer glasses on, but Brown has done a very good job catching the ball in his career. He's caught 204 of 259 targets for an 8.2 ypr average. This year he's caught 20 of 21 targets for 8.6 ypr. Mathews has caught 89 of 108 for an 8.2 career ypr. From an organizational standpoint, I see no incentive to go away from Brown here.I'll say again, the only change that needs to happen is Mathews' involvement in the no huddle. If he is getting 20 carries and 4 receptions a game then we've got nothing to complain about. Would we like Brown's 3-4 carries and 3-4 receptions? Sure, but that's silly. Nobody here drafted Mathews expecting him to get 90%+ of the RB touches. In this day and age, 75% is awesome.I'd say their incentive is to get the ball in the hands who could take it to the house at any time.Brown isn't that guy.And Brown certainly isn't a better receiver than Mathews. What SHOULD happen is Battle gives Mathews a breather on short yardage here and there and Brown does the same by rotating in on 3rd down's here and there.KY

Exactly.Brown doesn't have game breaking ability. Certainly not anymore.Mathews does.Does that mean give Mathews ALL the touches?No.Sure. Sprinkle some R. Brown in there. Keep Mathews fresh. Maybe a little more than fresh. Fine. But for the love of god, having R. Brown as a permanent fixture in the 3rd down role works against the team's primary objective. That objective would be......winning the damn game.KYYou would figure that it's time to send a message to Rivers, right?Anyways.... regarding Brown as the 3rd down back. He has been very average. He doesn't have game breaking ability after the catch, and he isn't as good of a blocker as Mathews. I really don't get it. I saw him miss quite a few blocks, and he catches it in the open field and the defense closes in on him way too fast. He just doesn't have the explosiveness to be a 3rd down back, imo.
You are my favorite/most tolerable raiders fanRivers is getting crushed from coast to coast today.Hopefully that leads to him being more conscious about taking care of the ball, which in turn leads to more checkdown passes to our boy.![]()

I see ten grabs per game from Mathews.“Yes, we are going to limit some things we’re doing, and I’ve got to do a better job and make sure we put things in there, and then we’re calling things that have less risk,” said Turner, who calls the plays in games and works with the offense in practice. “They may not have as big of a reward. We may not be quite the same big-play team, but we’re not going to turn the ball over.”
I think this will definitely be the case. Mathews will be great in PPR leagues, only thing that hurts is that Ronnie Brown still sees plenty of third down action. I can live with it though. Funny thing is that he fractured his clavicle on August 9th and his ADP fell, making him a 2nd, usually a third round pick in most 12 team leagues. I'd say that's pretty good value as long as your team isn't sitting at just 0 or 1 wins at this point. Hardly the "bust" everyone claims him to be.Rivers is getting crushed from coast to coast today.
Hopefully that leads to him being more conscious about taking care of the ball, which in turn leads to more checkdown passes to our boy.

Agreed. Turner is a CLOWN!And another thing, this bizarre father/adolescent son dysfunctional, co-dependant, crybaby relationship between Turner and Rivers is embarrassing for the whole team. The GM, Turner and Phillips all need to go and like yesterday.

It's Jackie BATTLE time again!Looks like he hasn't learned his lesson yet.
They blew a 24 point lead to Denver and only scored 6 points after the bye week against Cleveland. AJ and Norv have more pressing matters (updating their resumes) right now.i was worried when i saw the fumble, but it looks like he was back in on the next seriesany indications that AJ was publically pissed off again? any danger of a repeat of a few weeks back when Battle started without anyone knowing?

Right now I have him in with McFadden over McGahee. Still debating though...no news is good news, right?who are people starting mathews over out there? anyone sitting him?
It was in pouring rain, and Mathews is the only bright spot in that offense. He should get more carries, not benched for Battle. lol Its a joke to think Battle would start over him, hence, why Norv is probably leaving town.ETA: Maybe if he focused on giving RM the ball more he would not be on the hot seat. It's Jackie BATTLE time again!Looks like he hasn't learned his lesson yet.![]()
He had 28 carries/targets last week, tied for second most of all RBs. I think what you meant to say is SD should actually play RM more. He saw the field 57% of the time (39 snaps) compared to Brown's 39% (27 snaps). A 1.4:1 snap to carry/target ratio is rather insane. Imagine how many touches he'd have if Brown wasn't the hurry up/no-huddle guy? Also, Norv openly stated he had no choice but to continue to feed RM after he fumbled last week..It was in pouring rain, and Mathews is the only bright spot in that offense. I'm facing him tonight. Looking at those stats and the match up, I'm totally expecting him to drop a 30 burger on me.Coach Norv Turner acknowledged after Sunday's loss that the Chargers stuck with Ryan Mathews despite his first-quarter fumble because they need Mathews in order to turn their season around.
Mathews has job security; they're not turning back to Jackie Battle. "The ball got away from him," Turner said. "We need Ryan to be a big part of this. We need to continue to have him have success." The Chargers are still pulling Mathews on the majority of passing downs in favor of Ronnie Brown. Brown racked up seven receptions in Week 8. San Diego faces Kansas City next.
Especially since they have yet to have any success in their two minute drill. Have they even scored at all while running their 2 minute offense?still not understanding the Ronnie Brown infatuation. Its mind-boggling. I understand Mathews cant get every snap but to take him out on every single two minute drive is odd.
