News just breaking on Twitter, may have occurred during practice today. Could be a big deal.

With Bulluck (toe) likely out, Umenyiora (knee) very questionable and Kiwanuka out, the Big Base is likely dead this week. Michael Boley should be an every-down WLB.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Giants are bracing for Mathias Kiwanuka (neck) to miss 2-3 months or perhaps more.

Kiwi is going for a second opinion "that could change that." The Giants have given no timetable for return. Kiwanuka reportedly woke up early Friday with stiffness and pain in the neck, and a CAT scan revealed the bulging disk. IDP leaguers can cut ties with him. He's a candidate for injured reserve.

MRI last night did show a bulging disc for Kiwi, team said. But was cleared to practice. CAT scan revealed it's time to shut him down. #nyg

 So much for the good season for that guy..

Pretty sure it'll be Clint Sintim - he's the best pass-rusher on the LB core. Don't know if he's big enough to line up at DE like Kiwi though.

How does this affect JPP? Is he forced to get more PT time now? Is he worth keeping an eye on even?
Thats what I was wondering, who the other DE would be. Understand it should be Osi, but with him dinged up as well would it be JPP, and even if Osi is available I wonder if they bring in JPP for passing downs and move Tuck inside.

With Mathias Kiwanuka (neck) out indefinitely, LE Justin Tuck will play linebacker in the Giants' "elephant" package.

It's a dime package that gets the Giants' "bigs" all on the field at once. Kiwanuka had four sacks in three games playing the role, and Tuck notched seven tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble as the Giants' end-slash-strong side linebacker on Sunday night. It's, um, good news for his IDP value.
