Matt Flynn (1 Viewer)

I don't know man. 6 TDs with a bunch of back-ups against a team with a lot to play for. Seems impressive to me.
I hear ya, it's just hard to be impressed by anything in the new nfl any more. So does Flynn going off mean Flynn and Rodgers are both incredible? Baseball should just start corking bats for similar offensive output.

Had Jason Campbell not gotten hurt, Flynn was the guy I was hopeing the Raiders would go after for 2012. Unfortunately Campbell went down and my team lost a couple of high draft picks as a result. Flynn will get a starting job and probably do well.
Almost no chance of Raiders getting him now. Oh well. Congrats to whoever signs him.

Highest passing yards in a single game and most TD's in Packers History. I think Mccarthy & Sean Payton both have the most efficient concepts in the NFL, always putting their players in advantageous situations.

I wonder where people would put him as far as top QB's available at the end of the season including college players. Flynn over RG3?

His stock is officially through the roof. I don't see how you can't be impressed by this showing today. I don't think he's another Matt Cassel. Flynn is the real deal.

I would bet the Pack' franchise tags him instead of Finley. Pack' gets picks for him after they sign Finley to a contract.

Whichever team that overpays for this guy is going to regret it.
... beacuse ?
Because of one game against a terrible pass D playing for one of the best pass offenses in the NFL.
He almost beat the Patriots last year with an impressive performance as well.
Yep.And talk from camp observers this season had Flynn looking better than Rodgers... obviously Rodgers is the man, but Flynn has the positive buzz, a strong game last season against a playoff team, and a monster Packers-record-setting game today against a playoff team. One cannot just ignore these kind of results. Predicting failure needs to have pretty good reasoning behind it... just being contrarian for the sake of it doesn't help the discussion.

The qb franchise number is going to be really high. If they tag him and can't find a taker...
I believe the team that would trade for him could work out a different long term contract. I don't believe the Packers would have trouble trading him for some picks. They won't end up paying anything to him once he signs the new contract with another team.

Yeah isn't the franchise tag mean he has to be top 5 paid QB? I don't think even Rodgers is top 5 anymore. No way the Pack does this.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned SF as a possible landing spot. They have just about every piece of the puzzle besides a QB. And I think many feel that Alex Smith is not the long term answer. If they stumble in the playoffs (especially against a team like New Orleans) I think the Niners have to be linked to him in some way.

They have lots of a cap room, need a QB with potential that can win now, and have a former QB for a coach. They'd be stupid to not consider it wouldn't they?

I think Smith has a lot of Front Office support, and they can sign him cheap for 5 years. Which means they will still overpay him instead of going after Flynn.

Did Schwatz give any credit to Flynn? All I heard was complaining that the Lions couldn't tackle, blitz, etc. I think I now see where Suh's classless behavior comes from.

I don't think franchising him is risky. I think he's better than Kolb, Cassell, Carson, etc.. Schaub's a good comp. Liked both of them as backups where I didn't really care for those others. Those guys were traded for plenty of quality picks. Someone will pay for Flynn.

I think the Browns would pursue him if he were a free agent, but if the Packers make the smart move and franchise him I'd bet on another team making the deal. Depending on the Fins new coach I'd bet on them first and Washington second, depends if the Fins want to give Moore another year.

I think it's now the average of the top $ at that position for the last 5 years. It will still be a hefty number (13M+?) and a big gamble if nobody else bites.

You know that someone will bite. Maybe 3-5 teams

Agree here. It's not risky at all. Miami/Clev/Jacksonville/Denver/Wash/Seattle/KC will all be looking for QB helpBarkley seemingly is going back. That leaves Luck/Griffin 3/Landry Jones. Someone will bite. [Even if GB has to accept a Round 2 pick]No offseason and a meh 2010 showing on the whole....the Cards bit on Kolb.

Flynn is probably better than almost half of the starting QBs right now in my humble and worthless opinion:

Wash/Minn/S.F./Buff/Cleve/Balt/Raiders/Chiefs/Denver/Seahawks/Jets/Tampa/Jaguars/Cards

Flynn surprised the Packers from the start, he won the Packers backup QB job as a rookie, beating out second rounder Brian Brohm. It is pretty tough for a 7th round pick to beat out a 2nd round pick in their rookie year, most teams won't admit they made a mistake so soon. Anyway, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

$13 million for a QB who has all of two starts under his belt? That is a pretty big risk, but probably a better risk than drafting a rookie QB and hopes he develops.
