Matt Hasselbeck is killing this preseason. TAKE NOTICE! (1 Viewer)

Very very impressive preseason so far. Going up against #1s... Kinda going unnoticed. I think he can post #1QB quality stats. Great WR weapons around him and a sucky running game. He could easily pass 500+ times and throw 25+ TDS. He just needs to stay healthy and that line needs to give him time to throw.

Can he crack top 10 QBs?

I sure hope so, I am rolling with him as QB1.

After taking a look at his career stats, I think he should bounce back nicely this year. I actually kind of wish he would have a better running game, as it opens up the passing game (and vice versa). No reason he can't be top 12 if healthy IMO.

I sure hope so - I have Schaub / Hasselbeck - so I suppose I tried to go for upside and take injury risk.....

Assuming he stays healthy I think a good floor is 3000 yds / 20 tds / 15 ints - i'll take that for a QB2 with a ceiling of 4000 yds / 28 tds / 10 ints

So - here's to hoping he stays healthy and the line gives him time....

schedule hella soft too. Love the way he and TJ are grooving. Running game should be fairly inept. All things point towards a solid season for a qb that can be had dirt cheap based on ADP. Just needs to stay healthy. Decent compliment of receivers behind TJ also. I'm digging it...

I'm a fan this year. They've definitely looked very sharp in the passing game this preseason and have good talent at WR and TE (yes I've actually watched their preseason games). The big question is their offensive line - homers report it's pretty bad and that Hass won't make it through the year. I can't discount that (though it hasn't been evident in the preseason games in terms of pass protection), but I'm still thinking he's a good gamble.

virtually every value play I had ahead of my pending draft is slowly being eroded by the exchange of information here in the shark pool. curse you all!!!

Just get Chase to post his opinion - that'll put a damper on things. Well at least for those who put any stock in what Chase has to say. :goodposting:

In 2005, Daunte Culpepper had a preseason where he went 36-44-520 for an 82% completion percentage and an 11.8 YPA. He went on to a disasterous season. I'm just sayin' . . .

He only played through October that season because he got hurt.

It was also the year they lost Randy Moss- though Culpepper did suck those 7 games to (12 ints, 6 tds) he was still on pace for something like 3,600 yards passing and 350 yards rushing.

I realize passer rating is uncool to fantasy folks, but his was a whopping 72 that season and the Vikings went 2-5 in his 7 starts to go along with his truckload of turnovers (12 INT and 5 fumbles).

I do think Hasselbeck will have a very good season. I drafted him pretty late as a backup to aaron Rodgers. He is 100% healthy coming into pre-season. I also read about him changing his conditioning program so maybe he will be healthier. The biggest question for me is the offensive line. If the OL can keep him relatively well protected, I think he can stay helathy.

Getting away from Holmgren may also help. I owned Haselbeck 2 or 3 years ago. It seemed like in every game, he would have 190+ yards passing by halftime, absolutely ripping the defense. I start licking my chops for the 300 yard bonus. Then, inthe 2nd half, Holmgren woudl decide to run the ball 400 times, Hasselbeck would end up with 225 passign yards on the game, and Seattle would blow their halftime lead.

Are people seriously trying to compare Culpepper to Hasselbeck? We get it, you shouldn't go nuts with preseason performances, but beyond that you might as well be comparing Hasselbeck to Chris Miller.

I don't know that Mora is an upgrade here.

Great minds think alike. I too have Schaub and Hass and am hoping that Seattle O-line can stay healthy. That schedule and the lack of a strong running game made Hass attractive. But this one could go either way. He could be a great bargain or he could be a completely wasted pick. I don't see lot in between.

I did a quick look at Hasselebck's numbers. 60% of his passign yards came in the 1st half of games since 2005. I'm not sure Mora is an upgrade overall, but I would think he would be more inclined to stick with what is working instead of Holmgren insisting on running the ball at all costs. It is also pretty odd that the % passing in 1st half is very consistent year-to-year when considering that in some years they were towards the tops of the league on point differential and in others they were in the lower half of the league. It's not like they were always nursing a lead. 1st half passing.....................2nd half passing2005.....................2074.....................13852006.....................1513.....................9292007.....................2363.....................16032008.....................665.....................551* Note that these are just Hasselbeck's stats

If Mora has a running game he'll use it extensively (if his Atlanta track record is any indication). The good news is I don't think he has one in Seattle. The short route runners for the Seahawks could be PPR gold as I think they'll be the alternative used to replace ineffective running plays. I think that means Housh, Carlson, maybe Branch.

Listed as one of my value plays in my QB thread...a key to the draft QB late strategy along with Schaub and Palmer.
