NY Times Fifth Down Blog Q&A w/NIU RB Chad Spann

I had the opportunity to do a couple of interviews with Spann who was 2010's D-1 rushing TD leader and the MAC MVP and Offensive Player of The Year. The link above is the traditional Q&A.

Tuesday night I got to break down tape with Spann and I'm going to make this an ongoing series. Spann does a terrific job of going into depth about the technical side of football that I think those of you who want to learn more about the game will enjoy.

This is awesome. for Part II and I'm really excited to hear that this will become an ongoing feature.

Loved this comment: "Another thing Priest Holmes could do was score touchdowns, which I did a lot of at NIU." Great how he sort of tossed that in there after talking about how his size, vision and instincts could be seen as similar to Holmes.

I really enjoyed hearing how he climbed from 9th on the depth chart to 2nd in the span of his freshman camp after walking on because no one would give him a look.
