Mayday! Ray McDonald, DE SF (1 Viewer)

I inadvertently opened a bid for Ray McDonald in an online free agent auction tonight ... meant to bid on Brandon McDonald, the DB from Cleveland.

Anyone have an outlook for Ray this year that would justify keeping him on the roster? Hope on improving last year's numbers? Any help appreciated, as I am very limited in my roster moves in the particular league during the offseason.

what are your rosters? scoring? ie--in my 32 team league, i'd take him. not so much in a 12 or 16 man leaguehe's a part time 3-4 DE with some limited pass rush upside. he was one of the few lineman who could get to the qb last year. not particularly stout against the run and won't be a full time player next season. good news is Ike Sopoaga is moving back inside to NT, which should mean more time for McDonald.there's a chance....but...I wouldn't bet on him being a top 40 DL in any format.

16 teams with 40 man roster, basically. Thanks for the input. At least he has a glint of an upside, though it sounds like I will be dropping him early for the waiver wire soup of the day.

On Rotoworld today...

49ers DE Ray McDonald underwent knee surgery after the season.

The injury is to the same knee that was seen as a question mark when McDonald was drafted back in 2007. There's no word on the severity of the surgery or McDonald's expected recovery time.

Hey, thanks for keeping an eye out, Chook. Appreciate it.No word that this would be some new bionic knee that gives him superhuman powers, I suppose? Like Awesome-O or something.

Even if it was, I still think he'll be about as effective as Professor Chaos next year.
