Im surprised to see him ranked 11th in the IDP LB rankings when he's only questionable..If he plays should we expect him to be in every down?

Mayo sees reduced role in return
"It was surprising, however, that when the Patriots' defense took to the Heinz Field sod, the defensive co-captain was a bystander, watching the game's first drive from the sidelines.
Despite having Mayo active for the first time since Week 4, the team opted to sit him for the Steelers' first offensive series. The opening drive included three third-down conversions, ending on a Mewelde Moore touchdown grab that gave the Steelers a lead they wouldn't surrender.
In Mayo's place, fellow linebacker Brandon Spikes wore the team's defensive radio helmet for the game, and took over Mayo's usual duties of running the defensive huddle.
"For the plays I was out there, it seemed like [the communication] was okay. Spikes did a good job," Mayo said. "Obviously everybody wasn't on the same page on some plays."
Asked if Mayo would "wrestle" the defensive headset back from Spikes going forward, Mayo left the decision to the coaching staff.
"I'm not sure," Mayo said. "I always say whatever the coaches want to do with the green dot, or with positions, I'm willing to do. I'm not really one to go against the grain."
After missing the first drive, Mayo entered the game on the second defensive series. Despite the defense staying on the field for nearly two-thirds of the contest, Mayo saw noticeably reduced playing time from what he usually receives.
"I felt alright," summarized Mayo. "I went out there and ran around with the guys, so my mentality, my mental state of mind was at a peak today, just being out there with the guys."
Im sure that Belichek is just easing Mayo back in like he did Spikes earlier in the year, but the bigger question is who wears the helmet when Spikes and Mayo are 100%?

...he will be a good stash for the playoff run for redraft leagues where owners cut him due to the injury.

He seemed to play the entire game yesterday and had 0 solos/6 assists.
What do we do with him moving forward?

He was credited with 5 solos including a tfl.
However, the TFL was Ninkovich's that the stat keeper incorrectly gave to Mayo (was replayed on tv 3 times and Mayo was standing by the pile 3 yards away).
The other 4 solos were all on pass receptions of 21 yards, 38 yards, 16 yards, and 12 yards. He DID NOT have a single tackle against any of the 25 rush attempts the Jets had.

I watched a lot of the game I saw in the first half he should of had 2 assists but wasn't given them. The second half he seemed to be dropping back playing 10yds off the ball why ninkovich played shallow. Hope this won't be a trend maybe they new Sanchez couldn't throw over 15yds and had mayo spying Keller all night. Might have to go back to using jamar Chaney unless I here he will be getting his spot back

I thought he did, I didn't see him come off the field at all. I asked because of the comment above that he wasn't on the field enough.

For those that woke up to the news of a Lauinaitas MRI...might be time to pickup Mayo if he is still out there. Surprisingly he is available in a lot of CBS Sportsline leagues - not that it means anything - but it is at least a measurement.

Did it seem to anyone else that they were playing a lot more 4-3 last night?
Not sure if injuries, personnel had anything to do with it or if it was situational to the matchup but he looked a lot more like last year last night (even dropped a bit shallower and made a few plays on pass plays).
Any new thoughts?

Worried Spikes will come back and minimize Mayo's role. He looked like he was in the middle of a 4-3 a fare share last night.

Yeah, I was hoping its more the 4-3 than Spikes. I don't get it. It seems obvious that Mayo can be a disruptive force when played. He was last year and then again last night. They haven't used him as a blitzer in his new role. I would rather see him be important like a Wilis or Sean Lee or London flethcer versus being minimized (real life and fantasy).
