McClure's BBQ (4 Viewers)

Hit up Mosca's over there as well - you are really close. Great Italian  - cash only place. The Chicken a la Grande and Oysters are killer.

Forgot - thought you were on west bank - so you would have a drive from where you are.
Yeah I'm done with NO after last night. Went to the Knicks game and tried to do some stuff in the French quarter but it's too hard. Oysters one more time would be nice.

Just too crowded to have any fun. A long ordeal to get a beignet at cafe dumond. Smell of piss, drunks and homeless guys laying on the sidewalk. Not for me maybe lol
Ha. Well I've been there too, but there's more to NO than that, hopefully you give it another shot (in other neighborhoods) when you can. Don't let Bourbon Street be your final POV for the city.

I second that. I was not too impressed wth Bourbon street, but enjoyed my walk through the quarter - and plenty of other things to do/see.

I was there 2 weeks ago and never set foot on Bourbon Street - did walk down Royal though

Tipsy - How many people can your space hold?  My company may be doing a leadership retreat for about 50 people sometime around April/May.  I don't want to make any promises but I might be able to get us to have a dinner there one night if you can accommodate.
Whoa...missed this...been interneting less.   Send me an email @mccluresbarbecue@gmail

Crap, just saw this.  We're going to be out there the first week of April but they've got most of the meals booked.  I believe I get a night or two to roam, I'll try to stop by and bring a few folks with me.  Your food better be good because I'm going to talk it up like crazy.  Hype train is going to be running full speed!

That's awful and extremely short sighted. Let's crush great local businesses for zero reasons. GL Tipsy, I'm sure you'll wind up just fine.

That's assinine.  The local breweries here somehow manage to sell food without puttng restaurants out of business.

Sorry about the stress.

my sauce placed at hogs again.  8th spot....lower than last year but two calls in two years...nice!  and the team raised 40k!

I got a call on my way out there to finish unloading  ...father in law is fading in ICU.  Had to bail on Hogs.   Family first. I'll be back next year.

My god they're SO stupid.

What do we do here but serve locals and tourists who want to eat and drink and have a good time.

Marine-Lombard said before the advisory was issued that the original cease and desist letters were prompted by numerous complaints, many anonymous, from groups across the state, including competitors, neighbors and law enforcement agencies.

“I was receiving a number of complaints about breweries operating in ways that overstepped the laws of a manufacturer or breweries operating in ways that might not have been compliant with the general law,” Marine-Lombard said in an interview with The Advocate before the advisory’s publication.

Brewery owners say they think the restaurant industry and Louisiana Restaurant Association were behind many of the complaints. Coco said Marine-Lombard admitted to feeling pressure from the group.

“She said that the LRA was pressuring her because we were eating into restaurant business,” Coco said. “That’s a very unfair way to go about changing the law by going to one commissioner and pressuring her to make a ruling instead of going to the legislature and making a law change if they want to change the law.”

Legier said other “industry leaders,” who he declined to identify, were involved in the advisory drafting process and that these regulations affected more than just breweries.

Now that the advisory has been issued, Godley said he is hesitant to be completely open and honest about his thoughts for “fear of retribution from the ATC” and that other brewery owners feel the same way.
I'll say it: these are some crooked bastards we have running this state.

Its hard to like your post when your dad's health is failing.

Grats on your sauce.

Best of luck to your dad.

I hope the situation with the brewery gets solved.

Had a kickass time at Hogs with Hog Dat Nation. Met some awesome folks. Hate that poor tipsy is going through some tough times at home.

Fantastic experience they really felt good... it's easy to get caught up in the cause down there when you're around passionate people like Ben Serrat. Hearing that team talk about Neil is awesome... everyone down there has immense amounts of respect for him... he was sorely missed.

The GF and I worked out asses off and loved every minute of it. I think we made 500 sliders... some pulled pork & pimento cheese.... some 50/50 (half ground pork, half ground bacon) with cheese and pickle. Ran food. Served food. Ate chargrilled oysters larger than a beer can. Had so many crabs that we ended up having to set 1-2 crates free into the river. Just an epic feast, with Fantastic people, for an amazing cause. There really aren't enough adjectives for the experience.

Got to grab a beer with @Tiger Fan late Friday night too, which was great. Haven't seen him since jazz fest many moons ago. :banned:

Been so busy with my move hadn't checked in here for a big. Thoughts are with you and the fam GB.

Look forward to heading back your way to catch up a little.  Or hit up some southeast cheap flight served festival now that I'm southern based.

Wow ...cool!  Congrats Tipsey - another sweet article now making the innerwebs in a big way.

I was perusing my usual email link from ThrillLIst and saw an article on New Orleans BBQ raising money for brain cancer - and how it's become one of the driving influences in the fight against cancer.

And there was Tipsey!  No pic, but big in the article.  Way to go man.

..hope this isn't a Honda.

This event deserves every last ounce of praise it gets... and in my experience of trying to help out down there with his team this year, Tipsy is indeed revered in the Hogs circles. Great article. I encourage anyone to check it out sometime... awesome event.

@tipsy mcstagger

So that big meeting I'm coming in for is happening next week.  I'm going to have a couple nights next week where we have no plans for dinner.  How far are you guys from Hotel Monteleone?  Is it busy enough that if I was going to get a group of people together to stop by would I need a reservation?  Could be anywhere from just me to 15 people depending on interest.

It's about a 10-15 ride (only 3 miles, but have to get through downtown traffic).

Not to answer for Tipsy, but I know he doesn't check in as much as he used to.......as I'm sure you know, next week is Jazz Fest so there will be a ####load of tourists in town, which I would expect to translate into more visitors to McClure's.  That being said, the restaurant is at a brewery and there are no reservations, but plenty of seating.  You order at the counter, go grab a beer and a seat and they'll buzz you when the food is ready.  Earlier in the week the less crowded I would imagine.

Thanks @TigerFan.  I'm not going to have a car but can maybe uber down there if we have time.  Appreciate the response.

thanks ...that was a nice piece i thought.

sorry about my lack of response to questions here...been a tough month w the FIL dying and overwhelmed w catering.   Summer is coming so I should have more time for updates n such.

The eggrolls i made today...HFS.   Baby back meat, smoked mushrooms, udon noodles, slaw mix w fish sauce, rice wine vin, and tamari, fresh cilantro and jalapeno, and fresh ginger.   Dipping sauce w soy, rice wine vin, chili flakes, green onion, and ginger.   I have eaten three already...so damn good.    normally i just roll up meat w slaw mix since they are the cheapest thing i sell, but felt inspired for more authentic flavour.   Now I'll never be able to go back.

Tipsey - I stopped by first Sunday of Jazzfest on way back to hotel. Chicken was great and Brisket that day was best I've had from your place over the years. Others were a bit drier and these were very moist. So good stuff - keep up the work.My wife loves the Chicken and rarely orders anything else.

By the way had some Burnt Ends at Central BBQ during one of Shaggy's shows(George Porter Jr and Krasno - wow!)  and they were ok - no where near what you get in KC however. Since it was a Shaggy show we were mainly eating crawfish. That place is massive going to be interesting on how they pull that off on the other side of the viaduct and how all the kitchen changes are getting absorbed there.

Sorry to hear about your FIL.

Hope to catch you next time.

you going to have them for that fundraiser on Saturday?

1) Those egg rolls sound preposterously good.

2) I'm sorry for your loss, Tipsy.  Awkward iManhug.

3) I someday desperately want to go to McClure's and ask for Tipsy and when the counter person asks my name, I'll yell out "My name is EG !  You know who I am, dammit!"  So Tipsy, if you're ever floating around and hear that bellowed out... you'll know I'm there, I'm drunk, and I'm ready to rage.
