McClure's BBQ (3 Viewers)

Just a thought - could you get the smaller bottles back on the tables instead of the big bottles with small cups? I loved the variety of sauces but it's a bit of a pain to fill up the small cups, etc.

I completed the half EG72 on Thursday last week.  The Evil Grin 36

Three Meat Combo - Ribs/brisket/pork

6 wings - hot jerk style

Pure delight (actually I was pretty uncomfortable for the drive across the Casueway, but it was so worth it). @Evilgrin 72

@[icon] @tipsy mcstagger - A few questions - looking like a trip is in the works for early next year.  What are the local recommendations for 1).  high end (looking for Michelin Star type place) and 2). dive type places.  Tipsy, i will bring the group in for at least 2 dinners (these people all have money so we will save no expense :))  I will know more in a few months and would love for the MIM crew to head up if it actually comes to fruition.

I honestly don't know who has any stars.   Considered some of the best higher end food in town:   Start at Commander's....the food is always good but its all about the service & atmosphere & history...more a sentimental place but certainly hosts some ballers.

August, Bayona, Herbsaint, are all quality.   Mid range but great food:  Le Petite, Toups, Cochon, Peche, Shaya.    Dive/Cheap:   Poboys at parkway for lunch...a must.   Jaquimos is every tourists favorite uptown spot ....more fun than stellar food..but that aint bad either.    Willie Maes Scotch house is the most famous fried chicken place.    The Joint is the most popular bbq in town.   I've always enjoyed Praline Connection on Frenchman....good southern / new orleans place and i dig their fried chicken more than willie maes.   Grab a Muffuletta from Central Grocery on Decatur in the FQ and just walk around eating it.    A 3 am lucky dog from a cart with the fattest dude you can find is always a terrible but necessary task.  Bonus if his nails are really nasty.

Tap room bouncing is the new trend....we have at least 8 breweries with tap rooms now and a couple of bus tours seem like an option....I hear one of them has some decent enough bbq down on Tchopitoulas st.

Keep me in the loop.

Tipsy - will you be at the Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival? Man, that is shaping up to be a legendary weekend.  Just saw the lineup.  Samantha Fish added, Robert Cray, etc.  I'll be out there Friday 10/13.  2 couples.  Friday night dinner at Restaurant Rebirth (great reviews on Yelp).  Saturday we were going to hit up some McClure's either way.  I had reservations at Doris Metropolitan (again, great reviews on Yelp but I don't know if I want steak in N.O.).  Problem is Robert Cray ends at 8:30 so I have to change plans.  Want to change grab a bite and then head to Frenchmen's St later (doing obligatory Bourbon St. for the first timers on Friday night).  I've been to many of the restaurants you mentioned including Restaurant August last trip, but never Commanders Palace or Bayona (was too hot to get back in back then).  Maybe we just grab a shrimp Po Boy someplace and keep it quick.

Great Saints tix in hand vs. the Lions on Sunday.

If I don't catch you on Saturday I'm there for our customer conf Sun-Wed.

I got to find a way to get another muffaleta at Cochon Butcher again.  Man that was great.

Compere Lapin on Tchoupitoulas is close to Lafayette sq. - Beard Award winning chef Nina Compton. Not sure when they shut down.

ETA: Try not to miss Deacon John's set on Friday at BBBQ - he is NEW ORLEANS through and through. Always a great entertainer.

So awesome, Tipsy!!

Take a lot of pics.
meh....i'm excited to meet them but not a photo with celeb kinda guy.   My favorite story in that regard happened the night we fed Newt Gingrich during the 2012 election season.   They had all of Dante's to themselves.   At one point Newt's handler asked if I wanted to take some photos with the senator.   I declined citing "I am good with the memories".    #upyoursNewt

8 briskets resting

8 shoulders resting

24 racks of ribs finishing  (made them competition style with a nice glaze)

Tips I'll be in NOLA 9/29 - 10/1.

I'll be asking for the portly, self important fellow and I darn well better see one!

Make 'em even slower and fatter.  Some slow featuring food poisoning would be good too.

lowest food cost thing i've run here....  should sell fairly well in this bar setting I imagine.   I've already eaten too many today....gonna be the thing that kills me i think
If the hookers and blow didn't get ya, I think you're good on pork rinds ;)

Still ready to do table tents for all around the brewery whenever you are. Low cost, great impulse-snacking generators....

256 pieces of chicken in the buttermilk for today....probably going to have some extra :)

Also popping up tonight at a bar (the rusty nail) where I used to pop up a lot a few years back.   Slated to feed their patrons for Saints games at least thru October.

Pig roast on Thursday.

300 guests here for Pints for Prostates on Thursday.

Tickets to U2 on Thursday.

150# shrimp boil offsite on Friday.

Pig roast on Saturday.

Popping up at Rusty nail from 8 am - 9pm on Sunday (including breakfast tacos & such for the am)

.....anxiety may cause me to stroke out this week.    #deepbreaths

Maybe I'll swing by on Sunday to catch Broncos and Cowboys before I head to Chris Robinson Brotherhood at Civic. How's the TV situation in there - are they a Cowboy bar?

Show of the weekend is Tedeschi Trucks Band at Saenger on Saturday night - I'll be there for that one.

They have quite a few tv's inside and out....great bar.  It is not really anything but a Saints crowd but most games get shown.

That seems ambitious. I bet you didn't plan it this way in advance, but it sort of crept up on you...

I remember meeting you there at Jazzfest long ago and I've seen Mia Borders there - but I just couldn't recall what the TV situation was cause I was hanging mostly outside having a good time. And I don't want to hang around a bunch of Cowboy fans - it's bad enough during ski season to watch games with them around. We will see what my wife is up for with the back to back shows. Hopefully the Patriot fans will be a bit more humble after last Thursday.

Lol...bought a pig for this catering gig offsite tomorrow.   I have had it on my mind for a couple of weeks.   It turns out it was not a pig they wanted, just regular pork and chicken.   I am an idiot.    Well....I am sure they will be pretty excited to hear its whole hog vs just pulled pork....the taste is light years different and better.   Too bad it is costing me double for that meat

Rockstar Schmockstar.  We knew Tipsey when he was just a self important, portly FBG.  Anyway Tips, here's my upcoming travel itinerary, tell me when the best time to come visit your establishment and meet you of course.

I fly into NO, Wednesday, September 27 at 5pm.  I have to drive to Mobile sometime that night, but I'm not adverse to the idea of stopping by McClure's.  I'll be in Mobile until Friday but returning to NO Friday around 5 again until Sunday, October 1 around noon.

When do I stop in and meet the famous Tipster?  Tell me when Sir!
