McClure's BBQ (5 Viewers)

4x16 stack on truck. I have it in 4 different spots around the building so none of the stacks look that awesome...but it will last a few weeks I think.

4x16 is 2 cords

Price seems pretty high imo. You can get full cord of smoker oak to a residence for $350 here fwiw. I assume restaurants get it for nmt 250.

that being said....I'll sell anyone here a franchise with me onsite for 3 months to show you operations for 500K right now. Thats probably at a significant discount from a year or 10 from now.....ground floor anyone?
I'll hit you up on Thursday morning after I win the Powerball Wednesday night.

hickory isn't readily available here. the oak is half this price but i don't really like smoking with it....i don't know really. Pecan is what I will be using the most as time unfolds. I have bumped into an old friend from the college days that has a tree service and is willing to start splitting and curing all the wood I can use. We go way back so the price will be good for us both.

Good to see a few breaks starting to come your way.

Did you see my suggestion about reaching out to the 3 star reviewer on yelp?!
You know you can't please everyone and it seems like that one review isn't hurting business. In fact I don't know anyone who relies on Yelp to make their dining decisions. I think it is a very small percentage of possible diners that do rely on it. And really doesn't Tips have enough going on to not worry about one personal review? I mean if the guy had 1 or 0 starred him sure you want to reach out because that suggests a possible real problem. But if you spend your time reaching out to everyone who doesn't give you the max stars what time are you going to have to do anything else?
That guy was a complete ##### about it in person too. I'm not going to engage many folks on yelp anyway...see Amy's Baking Company.
#### that guy then. Who cares? I would blast a lot more pics though on facebook and your company website. Especially of a full restaurant. People want to eat where people are. Linking all the articles can't hurt.

You might actually consider turning over your social stuff to someone offsite (like here). Bakeries locally pay social people 100s of bucks a month to manage their social media. Pretty sure you could find someone to do this for you for a t-shirt here.... Just saying.
You could turn it over to the Gordon Gekko alias, or LABS . . .

My hours since Friday:

approx 630 am to 11 pm everyday. I went home at 930 one night to be honest.

120+ hours. Gonna have to trim that back a little
Start making a list for the whole process now. You will need to be able to delegate sometimes. And this place is going to be huge. You'll need to explain it to whoever runs your second location.
:hey:
:hey: Ohio is starving for some true pit barbeque.
:goodposting: I'll quit my job to work at your Columbus location
MN desperately needs some quality BBQ. Sign me up for the Twin Cities location.
This!

I would be very careful about expanding too quickly.

Oh, I'm in for a shirt, but, seriously, congratulations on this journey!

Is tipsey really keeping up with prospective t-shirt orders in this thread? Kinda doubt it, but if so, I definitely want one.

Once the online store is up I'll likely jump through this thread and fire off PMs to those who expressed interest, while also posting it prominently in here.

Full disclosure: No I'm not making anything off the shirts.

yes Icon.......not even a free shirt for you buddy.....
Gotta support the cause man! My "fee" is luggig lang 1.0 up here in may and feeding all of us for 4 days on Our sponsors' dime while taking home some hardware. In exchange I will ply you with booze and young coeds writhing to "entirely too loud" music

Would slightly smoking the shirts work? It does amazing things to my biz cards
You could smoke a cool McClure's BBQ Cardboard tag (not unlike your business cards), but I'll agree that smoking the shirts might be a bit much. Ruthe always tells me I stink when I come in from using the smoker, and makes me change before flopping on the couch

i was kidding guys....come on.

and as to why I was here an additional 26 hours on my two days "off" that you asked about Icon....I'm getting out of a deep hole of paperwork & other things that got put on hold just to get open.

Understand... once you replied that you had just finished a 13hr shift my "duh" light went off in my head as to what you were up to.

Sometimes I'm about as sharp as a tube sock.

Congrats Tipsy. I've been following this thread from the beginning as I have an interest in your journey. It is a dream of my wife and I to one day open our own restaurant. Here's to continued success. :banned:

If I ever get in the vicinity of NO again in my life I will stop by.

I'm also in for a shirt and hopefully some dy rub.

In for a shirt as well, and a big thumbs-up to Tipsey. I've been lurking in this thread from the start and am happy to see his dream finally coming true.

Logo & font info for shirts just sent to Icon....shirts in a couple of weeks I think.....
Received. Working with original artist to get everything square, then tweaking and passing along to my shirt guys.
What kind of shirt did we end up going with?
:useless:
This one.
Hey! I didn't give anyone permission to use one of my pictures!

 50/25/25 are the way to go.

I like these - http://www.amazon.com/Next-Level-Apparel-Tri-Blend-Stunningly/dp/B005WUPEVI/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1375959800&sr=1-1&keywords=next+level+apparel+50%2F50%2F25

T shirts can make you great money. Quality shirt, catchy colorful logo (front and back) and slogan, and multiple colors for the shirt.

Maybe for the FBGs who get shirts (I'm in, too, BTW) you could charge an extra, say, $5 and throw in a baggie of your rub... Maybe enough to do 1 rack of ribs or so. Just a thought/hope.
