McClure's BBQ (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but have you ever considered having one day a week where you're closed? At this point, it seems like you've become incredibly successful and it's not a matter of "making it" anymore.

Having a scheduled day off every week (like Closed Mondays) would probably be very good for you to just relax, recharge, and honestly just not kill yourself/burnout.

lol, so dumb. Not sure how I even missed that post. Long overdue and well earned.

Tipsy, I'm sending some people your way that are visiting next week.

Sells out real quick ;)

Are you moving completely into the new space, or will you keep the OG location open?
absolutely keeping the first place. Even if down the road the brewery is blowing up...I'm still inclined to stay here. I might close a day or two a week if brewery exceeds OG sales. All meat will be smoked at brewery and all sides will be made at OG. At least that is the plan. I have small kitchen at brewery so its kind of perfect.
How far away are they from each other.
1.7 Miles - 5 min drive without traffic
obviously i'd like it if they were a bit further apart. i don't see the brewery affecting my original location sales too much...at least I think so. the brewery food is added bonus for the beer drinkers coming there anyway.

Kind of related...I am closing Tuesdays from here on out. 1. I need one day with no work. 2. It is the slowest day of the week and closing it helps me save much needed labor dollars at a minimum.

It was so nice to sleep in late yesterday. I made it all the way to 630 am. Felt like Christmas.

I wish I had a reason to get down to NOLA. 3 kids and no clients anywhere close makes it way too hard. Maybe we can get another company meeting down there like the last one, before McClure's was even a construction project. It got a bit crazy, so seems like we are avoiding going back there.

Have a friend who is dreaming about having a brew pub. Might bring him to NO Tap Room if we can swing the airfare.

I think he's high on enthusiasm, but low on knowledge and experience to go into the bar/restaurant scene, not least on the microbrew angle.

I think he needs a heavy dose of reality...

He needs to work in one for a while to find out if he can cut it.

Therein lies the rub.See my location and guess how many brew pubs are around....

How about a restaurant, or something of that sort? Does Lima have wine bars?

Virgin market.

Investors? Saved up the $?
gonna have to beg borrow and possible sell one of my children. This would be a lot easier if I had rich family....or family with any money. Getting the money is the only part of this I have no idea what to do. The pop up will hopefully generate interest enough to show a bank it is a viable biz, and maybe be a platform to woo potential investors.got 150K you want to invest? :)
If you are serious about this, PM me
 Never thought I'd be begging strangers for money. This board has been more generous over the years, especially after that little storm back in 05. If you arent familiar with the story, the board put a fund together which helped a lot during a time when there was little hope. Many of us received a generous sum, and many believe I used mine unwisely or even selfishly. I'm not going to sit here and try to defend myself against that again....my conscience is clear, although I regret joking that it paid for a vacation.

That being said...

I am serious. Finding the money is my only real obstacle. And I have no real idea how to go about getting it. Most restaurants are either family backed or bank backed. Investors sometimes play a role, but I've never been in that type of place in the last 25 years. Since I dont have wealthy family, a great credit history or a ton of collateral, investors are going to have to be where I focus for now....problem is I don't know how to approach that.

Any ideas or info you want to pass along would be great.
Congrats, Tipsy! As far as funding, look into Small Business Administration lenders. I think this would be something that would be in their ballpark. You might also want to talk to the guys at Nola Brewing--they've gone through this recently too. I'm sure you probably know them, but if not I can get you an intro.
whoa...eerie. Miss ya GB.

Announced today by the guys at NOLA Brewing: The will be opening NOLA Distilling Company soon. It just happens to be going in the building next to the tap room (i believe they bought the warehouse across street ) and I'll still be the only food.

This is huge btw. Really huge.

Man finds Food with McClure's Barbecue airs in a week...still waiting to see if the shot with the fbg's logo in the background made it
I just heard he went Vegan. Glad he got to you place first.

Looking forward to seeing the show. FYI - my wife has completely adopted my McClure's shirt and wears it around the house pretty much all the time now.

So you won't be up and running for Jazzfest? If not my wife and I will once again try and swing down to #1 on mag.

Any local FBG's that want to join me and the other restaurant guys on the show tomorrow should come to the Nola Brewing Tap room (the current one) for some tasty whole pig, ribs, and other treats. Party starts at 730. Food is free....beer is cheap.

:porked:
