McFadden "wowing" at camp (1 Viewer)

You can find training camp news blurbs to support hyping or hating just about any prospect.

Here's a glowing report about Mendenhall:

http://www.steelersfever.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26219

" The running backs go down to the right end of the field for foot-quickness drills. Believe it or not, Mendenhall has the quickest feet of any of them in the short shuttle where they quick-step through the cones. Mewelde Moore is a close second."

"Willie look okay hitting the hole, but he doesn’t have that extra gear he had in 2005. He better get it back before the start of the season, because Mendenhall is the most pro-ready back I’ve seen at these practices since I started coming here, and I go back to the days of Sydney Thornton. Everyone may assume Willie is the starter, but I don’t think Mendenhall is ready to concede that just yet. If Willie doesn’t get that extra burst back, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mendenhall start right away. He sees the hole better than Willie, He cuts better than Willie, he has a better lean to the end of his runs (remember that Barry Foster lean that got a couple extra yards at the end of runs?), and he’s a better blocker."

I don't put a ton of stock in what I read in August. It's a long season.

Any bad news on DMac?

There are physical abilities that people rave about - fast feet, good speed, blah blah blah... the typical hype you hear about rookiesThen there are performance abilities that sometimes get hyped about, blocking, vision, knowing assignments

I put ZERO stock in the former, and quite a bit in the latter.

Mendenhall may be fast, or have a good short shuttle (meaningless)... but if he can't decide where to cut, he's worthless

Most of McFadden stuff is all physical... he's fast, wow, blah blah blah

-- oh and in reference to that quote - I also put almost ZERO stock in what fans say.

Are you not a fan? How much stock should we put into what you say?

We are all fans... of the sport. What I was in reference to was when fans of a specific team (who generally know little about FF) post in a forum dedicated only to that team... I don't exactly trust their eyes. Depending on who posts in this forum, I may put a lot or very little stock in what they say, based on their history and reputation. But random quotes form a team message board by some fan of that team with no history that I know of... I just don't put any stock in it.BTW - in line with this thread... McFadden totally whiffed on a blitz pickup today. So there's your negative news. ;)

Here's the problem - he has a lot of things that he hasn't shown are a part of his game even in college. He (and Jones for that matter) were routinely running through huge holes or around the edge, and I make no apologies for being suspicious about their ability to repeat that in the NFL.
This pretty much proves your ignorance towards McFadden.
I've watched plenty of film a few YouTube clips. We'll see.
Thanks Red
Actually, he was in porn. I don't know if you knew that.
