Mean guy, little kid, foul ball.... blah, blah, blah (1 Viewer)

people suck

The actual grabbing is pretty bad, but that kid is probably nowhere near their seat. (and the woman clearly is). So little Sally's kid rights to the ball go WAY down.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves at sporting events. We've all seen THAT guy who brings their kid to the game, buys nosebleed seats and then starts migrating down towards the field in hopes that someone with better tickets won't show up. They have to constantly suffer the embarrassment of paying customers arriving and saying "excuse me, you're in my seat". Then they just move like 10 feet in either direction to the next open seat and try again. Its pretty freaking embarrassing.

I get that money is tight sometimes, but is the slightly better view really worth the constant effort and humiliation of seat hopping for 3 hours?

If it was a batted ball I'd agree. But it looks like a field player tossing the ball directly to the kids and the woman stepped in front of them. The kids weren't sitting in anyone's seat. They were in the aisle.

Give me a break. The player was throwing to the kids.
For some reason, i didn't notice that right away. Yeah, on a tossed ball, its beyond a #### move.

Please tell me someone has figured out who this woman is. She needs to be publicly shamed.

I thought that dugout looked familiar. That's at An Astro's game. I've been in seats very close to there, and my son got a tossed ball much like this one. A quick search reveals that this happened a couple years ago, and it appears that there was a happy ending for the little girl:

This happened in Houston vs the DBacks. One of the Dbacks players tossed the balls into the stand and that ***** grabbed it. The play-by-play and color guy saw it, pulled some strings, and delivered the girl an autographed ball. The story had a happy ending, but would have been happier if that ***** caught a fly bat to the face the next inning.

Good job, TV crew!

The TV clip (below) includes brief commentary from DBacks announcers Daron Sutton and Mark Grace, who were audibly amazed at the womans greed. According to several message board posts written by people who say they were at the game, Sutton and Grace later both autographed another ball and gave it to the little girl.

Another commenter said that people in that section booed the woman for a full five minutes.

The kid and dad are Yankees fans at fenway... that's why the guy took it.

I could see myself doing the same thing in the heat of the moment, but after I raise my arms in a victory celebration I would have come to my senses and given the kid the ball. It is a fricken baseball!

Maybe this dude gave the kid the ball as well?

I cant imagine the circumstance where I would swipe the ball from a little kid and talk ####.

That still sucks. When you're a kid, it's cool to catch a ball tossed to you by a major leaguer. It's not nearly as cool when you're given a ball by a dbag fan.
