Megatron not so Mega this week? (1 Viewer)

Anyone have concerns that Woodson shuts down Calvin today? Over the last 5 games the Packers have had pretty good success shutting down the passing, or at least the main receivers, for San Francisco, Atlanta, Minnesota, Dallas, and Jets. The tight ends in each game did ok, with Davis definitely lighting them up last week. Their last game against Detroit was a shootout with Mega hauling in two TD's, but is anyone else thinking that the Packers continue their streak and Woodson shuts Calvin down today?

More worried about the guy throwing to him than the guy covering him.

Megatron vs Packers is probably the team he puts the best numbers up against.

I know the past is usually a decent indicator of what we base our predictions on, but shutting down Roddy White, maybe his injury was more of an factor, Crabtree who has been playing decent, maybe his QB is the factor, All of Dallas WR's, All the Minnesota WR's, All the Jets. I think Woodson has been the main factor, but maybe it's just alot of things falling their way lately.

So Megatron's past, against the Packers, doesn't count?

Actually, it's (Tramon) William's island. He's been the one to shut everyone down this year. Woodson is bothered by turf toe and an ankle injury, so he can probably be had. But I would expect Williams to do a good job today against Megatron. Still, I wouldn't bench him.

Few reasons why he should be ok:

-First of all, the only time Calvin should be considered benching is if he's facing Revis.

-Megatron has owned GB in the past, having three multi-TD games against them.

-Woodson likely wont be covering Calvin. I would expect him to be on Burelson in the slot while Tramon Williams and a safety attempt to stop Johnson.

-Even if Woodson does see time against Calvin, Woodson sprained his ankle this week during practice so he isn't 100%.

-They should be playing from behind, so garbage points are likely and Stanton isn't afraid to throw it up, which they need to do more of with Calvin.

Absolutely it counts and factors in hugely. But shouldn't recent outstanding play from a defensive player factor in as well? QB concerns along with the way GB has been shutting people down, I just think there may be some reason for concern or to temper expectations.

I am more than a little worried that Calvin will be put on Drew Stanton Island.
Stanton will heave it his way. It's up to Calvin to go get it.
Everyone says this as if its fact, but he was only targeted 5 times last week. That being said, I wouldn't bench him.
I benched Miles Austin based on the "can't sit C. Johnson" rule. Thus far, zero catches the first half. Detroit seems to want to not force anything via the pass just yet. Rodgers is out and if GB can't score the Lions may never begin taking risks down field -- almost the worst case scenario. Loving the underdog, I'm rooting for the Lions and Johnson.Seems like the "can't sit C. Johnson" rule never takes into account your other wide outs potential. In any event, this aspect makes watching "DEZ-less, ROMO-less, ASANTE-less" Austin tonight more interesting.

Thank goodness for a 1st round bye. I don't want to talk myself into benching CJ because I love his potential. But, it is hard to ignore a 1 catch performance. How confident is everyone starting CJ against the Bucs with Drew Stanton chucking the rock? If you are sitting him, who you inserting in your lineup?

I just can't do it. I'm worried now but his upside is too hard to ignore.

Wasn't TBs top corner placed on IR a couple weeks back? Plus Stanton gets another week of practice in to get more chemistry with Calvin. I can't see how anyone can sit him this weekend.I've said this many times before, I would rather lose with him putting up a goose egg in my lineup, rather than see him blow up on my bench.

The misuse of Calvin is baffling. Throw the friggin ball up to him. He should get at least 2-3 shots downfield a game and every redzone target.

Yep this is the playoffs. Chances are he was big part of why you made them. Benching him at this point is foolish. Stick with what got you there.

This whole "[insert CB du jour's name] Island" thing is played.

Just saying.

As for Megatron, DET goes on the road vs TB, who has been fairly solid against the pass but doesn't seem to generate much of a pass rush. If the matchup was tougher, or the opposing unit was a sack-generating machine, I'd be more concerned with Stanton under center.

But this weekend, I'd say dance with who brung ya this far.

GOOD ADVICE!And if you need further convincing, just ask the "Sharks" that benched Chris Johnson and Tom Brady last week... oh... never mind, they're not around anymore. :goodposting:

This. I just don't understand it. This is the sole reason I'm worried. They just don't try to get him the ball nevermind feed it to him. They'd rather try to establish Best with the run on his gimpy toe turf snails.

Any chance Hill is back? If so, I would have more confidence... The other scary part is Detroit is HORRIBLE on the road. Don't they have the longest consecutive road game loss record? I would have to think TB leads this game unless DET can get some offense rolling.

What does the outcome of the game have to do with fantasy points? It doesn't matter if DET loses the next 100 games as long as Calvin puts up numbers.ETA: And garbage time points are worth just as much, so if TB puts up a huge lead, then all the better for Calvin.

Might seem crazy, but as a CJ owner, I always hope the Lions get behind early. When they are in games, he doesn't seem to get the targets as they play very conservative and dink and dunk with the tight ends and backs. When down by 3 plus touchdowns, CJ get some good stats. So, the fact that the Lions are HORRIBLE on the road, may actually help CJ as opposed to hurting his value.
