Mendenhall injures hamstring in first minicamp (1 Viewer)

now it comes down to: does his MC injury turn into Timmons' or Woodley's of last year? Timmons seemed to miss everything while Woodley was good for training camp and obviously produced last year. Timmons' was a groin though, not a hammy

Based on what Tomlin said, its no biggie. Basically just kind of like an overuse injury since rookies havent been doing practicing like that for awhile. Im not worried, and certainly not worried enough to put a Forte ahead of him

The Steelers need to figure out why their rookies keep getting dinged up early on. Bad luck or something with their practices that they need to adjust?

bump him down past forte and Smith?
Please take the Lions and Bears RB's. Mid-level talents for mid-level (at best) organizations.TIA
My exact argument (in another post), as to why Mendenhall should be picked, at least dynasty wise, ahead of Run-DMc and Stewart. Smith and Forte is a joke
except both DMac and Stewart aren't mid-level talents.
  :lmao: hah..well I guess its good that DMc isnt a mid-level talent but fumbles more than any other RB in D-I...that should work out good for him

I'd have to equate a hamstring injury on the first day of mini camp to being out of shape. The rookies find out fast that to make it in the NFL, you have to work out hard ALL YEAR LONG.

Alot of the early hammy problems each year are just dehydration.

Players tend to get used to their practice locations after the first week of drills.

So Mendenhall has never had an issue with ball security?

He's always had two, unlike Marshall Faulk who lost one some time ago.

Having a fumbling issue, which Mendenhall's biggest knock may be, is different from DMc because its truly a problem/flaw. Somehow no site lists fumbles that I could find, but I know DMc had 23 fumbles over his last 2 seasons, and thats splitting time. I don't think Mendenhall had more than 5 last year. There's a big difference there, not to mention NFL defenders are much more aware of and try to strip the ball more than college

They got the right guy to mop the floor after Marion the Barberion does the sweeping
Yep, one more year of Barber, then Felix takes the spotlight. It won't be long before Cowboys fans are saying "Give Felix the ball more"
Just like Steelers fans used to say, "We need to get Amos Zereoue the ball more."

Yeah, pretty much when any player is successful in limited duty, the fans call for them to carry the load -MJDBarberZeroueDWillyNorwood... and the list goes onA few of those players could be starting calibre, and some just aren't

Not a good start for RM

Steelers first-round pick Rashard Mendenhall was reportedly robbed at gunpoint early Monday on the South Side of Chicago.

Mendenhall, a Chicago native, was reportedly walking along the lakefront at 2AM when two people stole his phone, cash, and wallet. He was not injured. "He is fine. He is doing great," Mendenhall's agent said. "He said he doesn't have anything that is worth his life." The robbers were reportedly wearing black hoodies and ski masks. No arrests have been made. May. 5 - 4:16 pm et

Just noting that Mendenhall does have an issue with this and it is something that will need to be corrected.I do not think it is objective evaluation to criticize one player for a flaw in their game while not the other. That just shows peoples attitudes towards the players rather than actually looking at their strengths/weaknesses.There is a reason why Mendenhall did not get the bulk of the carries for Illinois until his 3rd season there. Fumbing and blocking are the 2 issues I have seen cited against him in write ups. These things plus missing meaningful camp time may slow his progress towards a time share with FWP.
