Mendenhall placed on IR (1 Viewer)

Wow...send a message talking trash and then get your season put to an end. I know anyone can get hurt at anytime...just saying....

WOW. Drafted Cadillac early in my initial dynasty draft last year, and struggled in large part because of it. Drafted Mendenhall this year (before the NFL draft) thinking I'd at least have a starter.

 :( :wall:

just traded him yesterday with a 1st rounder for S-Jax in a keeper... ....can't wait to see my e-mail tomorrow...

Carey Davis was the guy in this game before he got hurt, too. He didn't do much, but Moore only got in there after he was out. IMO, assuming Parker is out again, Gary Russell will be moved up from the practice squad and either start or platoon with Davis. Moore will stay the 3rd down RB.

This will give all the fanboys an excuse for why his career will be such a disappointment.

"If he hadn't broken his shoulder.."

A. It was against the Ravens.B. He made the big play in OT that put them in position to kick the game-winning field goal.
A. PIT plays JAX next week and have a bye week 6. When will Parker be back? Is MeMo worth one sorry game against JAX?B. It was a reception. MeMo is who he is. A nice 3rd-down RB. He made a nice play, yes. But it was only one play. If we're going to go and choose a "good" play, I'll go and choose a "bad" play where he slipped and grabbed the ball during the handoff on the next play. He should have just fell down and let Ben hold on to the football to throw it away.

Mewelde Moore is going ot be hot pick up for the next couple of weeks. This is a guy that can rack up 100 yds, we saw it in Minnesota for awhile.

I know this is going to sound odd, but this was the best thing that could of happened for those who own him.Now instead of having to accept the guy as a huge bust they can blame it on injury and save face.

 I don't get it. I thought the guy looked good before getting hurt.

If by good, you mean running into the back of your linemen and having a 3.2 YPC, then he looked fantastic. But if you define good like everyone else, then no, he didnt.

Do we actually have a link for Mendenhall going on IR?
http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08274/916203-66.stmFour Steelers hurt; Mendenhall, Simmons to injured reserve list

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

It was a tough night for the Steelers in many ways against Baltimore.

Four players left the game with injuries, and two of them are done for the season.

Rookie halfback Rashard Mendenhall and right guard Kendall Simmons will be placed on injured reserve today. Mendenhall made his first start and he left in the third quarter with a fractured shoulder. Simmons has a torn Achilles tendon.

Backup linebacker Andre Frazier was carried off the field on a stretcher when he was injured on the opening kickoff, but he was judged to be OK and was in the locker room after the game after the Steelers announced he had a spine injury.

Running back Carey Davis left the game early in the fourth quarter with a sprained ankle.

Darnell Stapleton replaced Simmons, playing with the first-team offense for the first time in his two years.

The injuries to the running backs left the Steelers with just one healthy back, Mewelde Moore. They went into the game with just three. Gary Russell was on the roster until he was released the day before they played Philadelphia, and re-signed to the practice squad.

They likely will add Russell to their 53-man roster this week and may have to sign another running back because starter Willie Parker is expected to miss next Sunday's game in Jacksonville with a sprained knee.

Versus the Ravens. He was met at the line or in the backfield and gained positive yardage on 7 of his 10 carries. A guy like FWP probably would have been stuffed on half of his attempts or more. I didn't see him running into his linemen, unless they were being pushed into him in the backfield. He ran hard and got the most out of his carries imo.

Give it up brother. The FWP bashing is misguided and inaccurate and has been proven to be so in previous posts.

Except his career won't be a disappointment.Tough break. Literally. He'll be back next year.

Welp... now I can move on with my season instead of crying every week about him not getting any touches.

Taking Mendenhall when Chris Johnson was on the board was one of my biggest mistakes in 20 years of this hobby. :towelwave:

Are you suggesting that Mendenhall is better than FWP?

Most everyone did this in dynasty leagues, although if you are talking redraft, you deserve to suffer.

In the Mendy thread about this weekend, I said no way he fumbles

I guess I was right...(&&(@#**&@)*$)((%$(_#$!!!!!!

Either way, had he not got injured it looked like he was well on his way to having a 'good' game considering it was BAL

I thought he looked better than 'good' considering the D he was up against

Ray Lewis - I hate you even more for ending Mendy's season now

It is a dynasty league, of course. Still regret the decision in a big way.

Sure, but you can take a little comfort in knowing you really had no choice, he was the obvious pick at 1.3.

No it wasn't. FWP is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. But I don't want to get into that again. Have a good one.

Im assuming this is dynastyI would wait a few more years to categorize it as that.Mistake for their 2008 prospects? Yes, but I think that would be a mistake with all the preseason knowledge regardlessWait it out longer than this to see how Mendenhall pans out

I dont think Mendenhall owners have any choice but to wait it out. I doubt you could get a 3rd tier kicker for him right now.

On a side note, I had Mendenhall in his Illini uni as my avatar since the day we drafted him

On saturday, as a Penn St alum I realized I had someone from the opposing team as my avatar - I could not leave Mendenhall as my avatar for that game, for fear of jinxing my alma mater during a year that they look legit. And this was after the Illini went right down the field their first drive

2 days later, Mendy hits IR

Not sure if Id rather have him out for the year or PSU undefeated at this point - check back later...

I doubt your a FBG member, but Jim James - trust me when I say that I will not change you from my avatar until I at least see you and MMJ rock out twice next week live :towelwave:

All his pre-season fumbling caused him to drop all the way to 1.10 in our dynasty rookie draft (just before the start of regular season). I moved up to get him after taking Stewart at 1.03. I'm wishing I'd grabbed DeSean Jackson or Eddie Royal instead. :towelwave:
