eagles fans?

eagles fans?

A) Parcells dealt with LT. I doubt it's a problem.B) Owens got paid the way the Eagles should have paid him in the first place. I doubt it's a problem.I wonder if Cowboy fans still think he disrespecting them and their Star at midfield?
What is the over/under on when..
A. Parcells head explodes over TO?
B. When TO wants a new contract?
Unless of course you had him stashed away on your roster...I have no real constructive message here, those expecting one should move on.
It's just that I'm tired of the media and the fans constantly fanning the flames of this jerk's ego. Do I think T.O. will improve the Cowboys... Yes. Do I care... not really. Does it radically change the landscape of fantasy football... no.
Am I sick to death of Owens and wish he'd retire already... hell YES!
Actually, it sounds like Drew negotiated a heck of a deal for TO and a big payday for himself. Very surprising the Cowboys would give him such a sweet contract but props for his agent asking for a pile and keeping a straight face while doing it.I have to say that in the years that I have been on this board I don't know if I have ever seen a more fitting animation. But seriously, all I can say is thank God that Rosenhaus is finally going to get his payday. That man has done nothing but work his butt off for Owens since he signed with him. He got him out of that crappy $49 mil contract, alienated him from the fans, and helped get him what I'm betting is a much worse contract taht will be laden with incentives and low base salary. He has earned every penny of the 10% he's going to take from TO.
Long live the agents!!!
The right thing to do? Now that is some manly ####.It's not bad to me. Maybe you guys want "friends" that will spill their guts as soon as they get a chance, but not me. I don't care that it's technically a felon, it's the right thing to do in a case like that. Also, Lewis was not subpeoned to court to testify and never lied on the stand. He refused to tell the police anything under interrogation.OK, covering up for a murder is technically a felony, but it's nowhere near as bad as criticizing a teammate... Sometimes I wonder about the moral codes of sports fans. What players who have done those things are respected by TO haters? At most it's Ray Lewis, but lying to the police to protect your friends is not a bad thing IMO.Respect as defined by TO haters:how to respect other people in this world.![]()

What happened to "Do the crime, do the time."?? Owning up? Where your moral compass is pointing to so that it justifies protecting a known murderer, I have no idea. Simply because he runs with your posse?
or that is some mean ghetto shtick.
Parcells was not at the press conference. He has not attended a single FA signing press conference in his 3 years in Dallas. That's Jerry's domain......Was Parcels at the news conference announcing the signing?
I have TO in a dynasty league, and doubt I trade him. I'd take him as the #1 WR in a redraft. But I doubt I'd take the first WR off the board this year unless he drops to an insane value.
I have to laugh at those who use the players on their FF teams to judge their ethics. You'd be better off not looking at the names and just looking at projections. If it helps, write a little blurb about the player's potential, projections, etc.
For TO, instead of thinking of it as drafting "TO", think of it as drafting his stats, risk of a player on a new team, and prior injury issues.
I don't own TO in my [DYNASTY] leagues - but wouldn't mind a bit!And we all know how hard he's trying.Anyway, GB another Owens thread, can't talk about him enoughOwens is quoted as saying "my upbringing made for underdeveloped social skills."
Thanks, I appreciate the info.Parcells was not at the press conference. He has not attended a single FA signing press conference in his 3 years in Dallas. That's Jerry's domain......Was Parcels at the news conference announcing the signing?
I agree that regardless of upbringing we are responsible for our actions. etc, etc... But I also think that if this story of TO is true that it is not at all surprising he is acting the way he is. Children growing up without their father are starved for attention. It is difficult, almost impossible for any of us to imagine how we would act if we were in the same situation as he was and a superstar in the NFL. Again, assuming it is all true.
I don't appreciate show-offs and prideful antics either, but I hesitate to speak against TO too bad, because if all this is true and I don't show him a little bit of compassion I think it would be me that is the prideful one.
I have an issue with such a lack of respect for others by TO, but his upbringing clearly has impacted this flaw in personality. One point is that Parcell's is a no nonsense guy, BUT, he looks the other way on his stars. LT was able to do what he wanted as long as performed on the field. Parcell's most definitely looked the other way with LT.I think this is perfect for TO. He has a no-nonsense coach who can be your best friend or worst enemy. He won't put up with TO's crap, and TO knows this. I'm quite sure they made it abundantly clear ahead of time, and I'm quite sure this will be worked out in his contract where any slip up will allow Dallas to cut ties with him with little or no trouble.
Overall, if TO behaves, I think he can flourish there in Dallas. They have a decent offense, and TO brings a whole new dimension to that team. Dallas has the Giants and Redskins to contend with and this will help out a lot.
I just find it all ironic and laughable though that he signed there, knowing his past history with Dallas...
We apologise again for the fault in thesubtitles. Those responsible for sackingThis just in reports of denials being bogus may be bogus!!

Remember, you heard it here first, it will be the DALLAS COWBOYS. Hear me out on this one:
1) Jerry Jones will do anything to win, and he'd love to stick it to a division rival in the process.
2) Parcells can handle Keyshawn, he'll handle T.O., too.
3) Michael Irvin's influence on T.O. will convince him that he'll be a god in Dallas and that he should take a small amount of $ to be treated like a god and make a bigger payday down the line.
Next time T.O. celebrates on the star, he'll have one on his helmet, too.

Actually, it sounds like Drew negotiated a heck of a deal for TO and a big payday for himself. I started looking at the numbers today and seems like the Cowboys are not only paying T.O. less than the Eagles did, but giving him less guaranteed money.fixedfrom espn.comif true...i'll guess jones paid out $10 mil in GUARANTEED MONEY![]()
for the record - great signing for dallas (i suspect most will disagree though)Owens, who was released by the Eagles on Tuesday, will earn a bonus of $5 million for this season and a base salary of $5 million, for total compensation of $10 million. Under his contract with the Eagles, Owens would have earned $8.52 0 million for 2006 because his contract was designed for him to be cut after the 2005 season no matter what![]()

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2374225Under the terms of the seven-year, $49 million contract that Owens signed with Philadelphia after being traded to the Eagles in 2004, he would have earned $20.27 million for the 2006-2008 seasons. So there is the potential, should the contract with the Cowboys remain intact, for Owens to make nearly $5 million more in Dallas than he would have with the Eagles.Quite interesting, it appears Dallas is not going to pay T.O. as much as the Eagles did. Good news for Cowboy fans, it seems T.O. is quite motivated that the Eagles paid him so much money.
I don't know but GB another Owens thread![]()

he's already won them over.
Not all of them! I spent a good deal of time last night interviewing new teams for my loyalty.I guess perspective is everything, this is from the same article.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2374225Under the terms of the seven-year, $49 million contract that Owens signed with Philadelphia after being traded to the Eagles in 2004, he would have earned $20.27 million for the 2006-2008 seasons. just think eagles fans, all it took was $5 mil more. that's like jabar gaffney money.![]()
Also worth noting I think T.O. made upwards of over 10 million his first year with the Eagles and was close to 10 million (I believe 9.x million) his second year with the Eagles.Oddly enough, T.O.'s biggest complaint was the lack of guaranteed money by the Eagles, however his contract with the Cowboys has even less.Of course, as was the case in Philadelphia, Owens' earning potential will be tied to his performance on and off the field. Because of the roster bonus, and the exercise dates of each, the contract in Dallas could be as short as one season. Even at one year, however, the $10 million that Owens will bank is more than some skeptics felt he could garner after his tumultuous 2005 season.
The reasons WHY he's an egotistical,, supremely selfish, backstabbing jerk do not change the fact that he IS a egotistical,, supremely selfish, backstabbing jerk.I love it when people defend TO by comparing him to all the thugs and criminals in the league. you can tell a lot about a person by who they're compared to. So I guess TO ranks just slightly above violent felons as a human being. Nice comparasin.Well I'm not a famous athlete but I can say I grew up in a highly dysfunctional family - in my case maybe no father would have been better.
What I think many fail to see is his antics are not "Look at me'....
Its more "I told you I'm not a loser"
How many whippings do you think he got so that last night on NATIONAL TELEVISION he admits that that is the thing he is still scared of the most.
I'm not necessarily propping him up - he is certainly immature and often eats his foot - but he's got fire, does not tolerate losing and earned what he got. I'll take that over the gun toting thugs on the Ravens any day...
So Michael Irvin being a cokehead never effected your love for the Boys?Or Kevin Williams for being arressted on domestic abuse?he's already won them over. Not all of them! I spent a good deal of time last night interviewing new teams for my loyalty.
I think it was actually $2.5 million. If I remember hearing right, they still had to pay him $2.5 mill more even if he was cut.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2374225Under the terms of the seven-year, $49 million contract that Owens signed with Philadelphia after being traded to the Eagles in 2004, he would have earned $20.27 million for the 2006-2008 seasons. This wasn't a case of Lewis' friends planning cold-blooded murder - an altercation happened and two people were stabbed. He did the right thing in not saying anything to incriminating his friend for something that happened under strange circumstances that weren't clear cut. He went too far in telling witnesses not to report what they saw, but I don't find any fault in refusing to incriminate your friends until you are asked to do so in a court of law. Here's a good article about the case:The right thing to do? Now that is some manly ####.It's not bad to me. After watching cover all week long and for interminable hours on Sunday, I think the media in general, and CBS in particular, were extremely unfair to Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis. While Lewis certainly deserved his share of moral censure, CBS seemed intent on building up his role in last year's post-Super Bowl murder to a point that the facts don't support. Specifically several CBS commentators said before the game that two men were tragically murdered after last year's Super Bowl, but that Lewis has never told the truth about the incident. The first claim is certainly true, but the latter claim is an outright lie.
Lewis, in fact, testified in court in early June about the events that transpired after the Super Bowl. According to Lewis, he went with friends Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting to an Atlanta nightclub. While hanging around outside the nightclub, Oakley was hit in the face with a champagne bottle and as Lewis testified, "all hell broke loose." Oakley and Sweeting were eventually charged with murdering Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar in the ensuing brawl (Baker, according to testimony at the trial, was responsible for throwing the champagne bottle at Oakley).
Lewis testified that he had seen Oakley and Sweeting each brandishing knives the day before the fight. During the fight Lewis testified that he saw Oakley vigorously kicking one of the victims while a second person held the victim down.
Furthermore, Lewis testified about an extremely incriminating conversation he had with Sweeting after the brawl. Lewis said he asked Sweeting what happened. Sweeting, while making slashing motions with a knife he was holding in his fist, said, "Everytime they hit me, I hit them."
Was Lewis actively involve in the brawl? Possibly, but certainly not to level of murder. Although the prosecution had promised that it would call witnesses to testify that they had seen Lewis throwing punches, when placed on the stand those witnesses said that in fact they had not directly seen Lewis hitting anyone. The only prosecution witness who testified to seeing Lewis actively hitting and kicking people turned out to be a convicted felon who was in jail for identity theft at the time of Lewis' trial. The most damning point of the trial for the prosecution was when a witness prosecutors had claimed would testify that Lewis punched one of the dead men in fact testified that he heard Lewis screaming numerous times for everyone involved to stop fighting.
The case against Lewis was so weak, that it's hard not to believe that the point of prosecutor's including him in the indictment was to rattle him enough to strike a deal as he eventually did, pleading guilty to obstruction of justice.
On that count, Lewis' behavior was extremely shameful. Lewis may not have murdered the two defendants, but he instructed several witnesses not to talk to police about what they had seen that night. If that had been the focus of the media scrutiny -- Lewis' abject irresponsibility in the immediate aftermath of the brawl -- that would have been fair enough, but in fact many in the media seemed intent on intimating the Lewis himself might have had a direct role in the murders, which was completely contradicted by every bit of evidence at his trial.
Finally, media commentators intimated that it was Ray Lewis' fault that to date nobody has been jailed for the two brutal murders. In fact the responsibility there rests largely with prosecutors. Even with Lewis' extremely incriminating testimony, a jury found both Oakley and Sweeting not guilty on all charges. Why?
Because the prosecutors vastly overplayed their hand. Even though the evidence against Oakley and Sweeting was compelling to most observers, the prosecutor had walked in on day one and said this was an open and shut case. Then they had to drop Ray Lewis as a defendant, most of the witnesses recanted or modified their stories substantially, and in a few cases prosecutors misrepresented exactly what some witnesses had told police.
On top of that, prosecutors never managed to locate a witness who would testify they saw Oakley and Sweeting stab the victims. The resulting lack of eye witnesses to the murder itself combined with the prosecutors's lack of credibility in the eyes of the jury resulted in the likely murders going free. Although it was a very self serving comment, in many ways Lewis wasn't too far off the mark when he said earlier in the week that prosecutors were so intent on bringing down Lewis as a celebrity that they forgot about the case in front of them.

I'm struggling with this. I have written well over a thousand words on the topic and I may or may not post it when I reach my own conclusion, for whatever my own conclusion is worth. The more I read here, the more I add to my own opinion. But, Irivin, and many others were our problems. They were family, not the enemy. They had problems in their personal lives off the field. None of them consciously or subconscioulsy divided locker rooms, alienated key players, deliberately annoyed coaching staffs, etc.So Michael Irvin being a cokehead never effected your love for the Boys?Or Kevin Williams for being arressted on domestic abuse?he's already won them over. Not all of them! Now a loudmouthed brat who's never been in trouble with the law is driving you away?
Shame! Shame I say!
This may be the lamest post I've read in the last year.Parcells is just the thing TO needs not only in football, but in life.
when TO was coming up in SF, there was a championship attitude instilled within the organization and plenty of super bowl veterans to keep him focused and in check.
after all those guys had gone TO had become the face of the niners. once they began losing that's when thing really got ugly. Garcia was quoted as calling him a cancer.
Same thing in Philly. Reid came from a super bowl pedigree and the Eagles had made the NFC championship game 3 years running, but there wasn't that same championship instilled attitude with the Eagles and super bowl caliber players as with SF. TO was on the same level as anybody on the team.
Dallas has always been "America's team". They're history and coach possess that championship attitude, sort of like the Yankees, that a guy like TO needs to keep his head straight.
Moreover, Parcells has made a living out of making team players out of "head cases" (OJ Anderson, Lawrence Taylor, Keyshawn Johnson, Brian Cox).
I think TO will be just fine in Dallas. I wish him well. No doubt he hits the star after his first TD in Dallas.
The Cowboys have been nowhere near a Super Bowl in years. Parcells was never even part of the Cowboy glory days. The situation is probably worse than it was in Philly. So now TO will join in the spirit of "America's Team", the same one he insulted on the star not long ago??? The only thing going for TO in Dallas is that Parcells is such a master of dealing with his players.By winning games.
