MFL league renewal price goes up June 10th (1 Viewer)

Just a reminder since I know a lot of people use MFL for their league hosting. The price increases on June 10th from $60 to $80 for people with more than one league being renewed. Single league renewals are $70 right now and go up to $90 on June 10th.

(edited to reflect info from other posters about multi- and single- league renewals)

I haven't used MFL's auction software before, though we'll be using it this year for a handful of franchise tagged players. From what I've heard it's a slow auction (i.e. taking days), where you have multiple players up for bid at the same time. That really isn't how I'd want a normal auction to go where you have a lot of players to be handled in the auction. I just want one player up for bid at a time. What we do is we go to FantasyAuctioneer.com to do our auction. They will transfer the rosters over to MFL for you too, though there can be some caveats if you have things like contract info stored for the player, you might need to do it yourself to not lose that info.FA's software is the best I've seen for auctions, and it's reasonably cheap to run one there, especially as they normally have a discount for MFL leagues. You may need to email them directly to ask about the discount though, I didn't see it mentioned last year on the website, but I mailed them and they gave it to me. You can go give it a try for free, it has the ability to do a mock auction by yourself so you can test it out. Only major shortcomings I have for FA is it isn't as flexible about unusual league setups (I don't think it can separate DE from DT for example), and the software for entering your player values pre-auction is bad, especially if you have a non-standard league where their starting values are way off what yours are. Not that you have to enter them, and I normally don't. But I wouldn't mind having them in there for easier reference if it was easier to enter them.

I watched two MFL league's auction take place and then participated in two league auctions. It takes about 10 or so days depending how it is set up and nominating, bidding and 'record keeping' is conducted on site. During the first X days, each team owner would nominate a player, putting up 12 players a day. Owners would then bid on the nominees (which is handled similiar to ebay bidding). Then after X days, each owner would nominate 2 players, which can at time have 30 players available (really gets interesting then). The high bid on a player has to stand for 24 hours to be claimed by an owner. The only thing that would really stretch out the bidding is when folks (or circumstances) where a high bid stands for 23 hours and xx minutes then is overbid requiring another 24 hour wait. MFL tracks your spending, remaining balance, amount pending as well as acquired team members, pending and number yet needed. That is a nut shell but I've no experience with any other auction sites.

Oh, and I should probably have mentioned in the description of FA's software... players are nominated one at a time, with everyone bidding on them live. It isn't a slow, email sort of thing. Each time a new bid is submitted, the timer resets to whatever time increment you chose for it. 15 seconds is a good number to use the first time around, though we've cut it down to 10 once everyone had a year's experience with their software. The auction for a single player generally takes less than a minute, and near the end it often takes 20 seconds or less.

I think we went through about 400+ players in 6 hours for our initial dynasty auction first time. A standard league set up of 12 teams and 15-20 man rosters would probably take 2-3 hours, about the same as many live online drafts.
