I know it is very early and tons can change, but I was wondering what the inside scoop may be from Miami homers regarding their qb situation next year. Will it be Frerotte? Someone else? Opinions/insight?!
I agree with this. I think Ramsey is the perfect QB for the Dolphins. He can be had for a reasonable price and he is still young enough to learn and prosper in a new system. He has a decent arm and he will have all kinds of offensive talent around him. The Dolphins have a great receiving corp, even if they don't end up with Owens, who I don't think they need. They have Chambers and Booker with McMicheals at TE, they also have two solid backs. I think the Dolphins could be the sleeper team of the year next year with Ramsey.Ferrotte is scheduled to receive a big bonus in March that the Dolphins are in no hurry to match. Furthermore, with Linehan moving to St Louis, an 'outside' Offenisve Coordinator may be brought to install a new offense. If that happens, Ferrotte is a very likely to be cut since his main advanatge was his knowledge of the Linehan offense. If they elect to promote an OC from within the orgainization, theres a slightly better chance that Ferrotte stays.
I personally think they will look into acquiring another QB, whether in the draft or via a trade. My personal opinion is that Patrick Ramsey will be the guy they target. He played at Tulane while Saban was at LSU and Randy Mueller was GMing the Saints. His price tag will be very reasonable (3rd-5th rounder imo). Plus hes young and has a reasonable contract.
Just one Dolfans opinion, of course.
Not a bad prediction! Supposedly Ramsey has been promised that he will be traded or be released this off-season. Knowing that, his price tag should be duable for anyone. One thing Ramsey does have is a rocket for an arm (can throw one hellva downfield pass)...so, Chambers and the fly pattern could be a common sight to see.I personally think they will look into acquiring another QB, whether in the draft or via a trade. Hes the real wildcard. Id have to think that they will not put all their eggs in his basket. Im just speculating here, but if Cam Cameron decides to jump ship in San Diego and fill the vacant OC position in Miami, youd have to think that Lemon has a huge advantage - due to his knowledge of the scheme. Remember that Wayne Huzienga has been known to give fat paychecks to his coaches (Nick Saban has a very large contract, not to mention the Coordinator-like deal given to OL coach Hudson Houck). Is Lemon a long term project? Does he have any upside at all?
You're probably right, he doesn't have the experience neccessary yet. I'm more saying that Miami shouldn't draft a QB in the first or otherwise acquire a big salaried QB. Maybe a guy like Kitna would work, have a camp battle and let Lemon learn as the backup if Kitna wins. We know Sage isn't the guy.Hes the real wildcard. Greg Cote, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins might look at former St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
If he came cheap enough, he'd be fine.Kerry Collins would look good under center in Miami.
You couldn't be more wrong.Frerotte was Linehans guy. His status is up in the air. He would make the perfect backup.Yeah definitly David Carr!! Hes Sabans kinda guy, and the Phins desperetly wanna get rid of Williams!!
