I think she misspoke- that she meant it was the media’s job to report the facts. I’ve been watching that show for many years and that is her position, not control.
And even if, by some chance, she didn’t misspeak: this is one woman. It’s not “MEDIA” as your title represents. Pretty misleading.

Even with the change, this thread is completely misleading. You continue to use the word “media” rather than referring to one woman, Mika. And she even clarified what she said and that she misspoke. And it was 5 years ago.
Imagine if I started a thread about something absurd Trump said 5 years ago, which he later said was a misquote, and my title was “Conservatives say ….” I’d probably be warned or suspended.

I used to watching Morning Joe (back before I stopped watching all political shows), and I am not surprised Mika said this. I don't think she misspoke; I think she said the quiet part loud. Classic case of a media member admitting that they want to control what people think.

Thank you @Joe Bryant for making the title change. I still think your opening post should say “from 5 years ago”, you should remove the line “at least she was honest” and instead include the fact that she wrote immediately after that she misspoke, but this is a good start IMO.

My biggest critique of her statement was her use of the word “we”, implying she is part of the media. She isn’t. She’s a talk show host and the show she is on is subjective opinion. She is not reporting the news (outside of emergency situations.)
I like Mika, but too many of these opinion people, both liberal and conservative, take on airs and act they are journalists. It confuses the issue (and makes the conservative argument that the MSM has a liberal bias easier to make.)

OK. I regard Acosta as a legitimate journalist. It’s certainly true that his exchanges with Trump were notorious in their acrimony, but that is because, to be frank, Trump lied so much of the time and Acosta challenged him on it.

It detracts and the way he conducted himself made it clear his only objective was to trap the then President to support his political bias.
That’s not really the approach I want from a journalist to feel confident in the usefulness and trustworthiness of their reporting, you don’t have to have all these other flaws to be effective at asking questions and informing the public well.
I’m not saying there is zero value in it, there’s value in almost any exchange that elicits a response from the President. But his approach is what I expect of partisan hacks, you may want it I don’t.

If you are going to post a 5-year-old out-of-context clip without mentioning her subsequent clarification, the least you can do is quote it accurately.
If you don't want to post the full quote, then you should be putting ellipses before "He" and between "trying to" and "control".

The media reports the news. Journalists, anchors. They don’t offer opinions. Wolf Blitzer is a journalist. Chris Wallace is a journalist. Mika is not.

I swear if we could put gun programs into schools K-6 in 15 years when those millions of kinds became adults, we'd see a massive shift in this country on how people viewed guns simply because from K-6 we pushed into their minds "guns are good"
