Mike Bell on MFL? (1 Viewer)

I was just looking around the rosters in my one dynasty league in MFL and I noticed that no one had Mike Bell. So I figured I would take a shot on him. It seems that he isn't on the list of RBs though? Is this the case for everyone on MFL, or does my commish have to do something to get him in there?

I believe he is not in there at the moment and the Commish would have to write him in . . .I would suggest for anyone in an MFL draft that you draft a player that no one would ever even consider drafting and then putting in "Bell, Mike DEN RB" in the comments section to indicate that that's who you actually want.

They don't add undrafted free agent rookies to their database until after NFL cutdowns and they actually make the roster. What we do in our leagues is draft a placeholder player and put in the comments section who we are actually drafting. I drafted Brandon Miree aka Mike Bell just this morning in one league. :D

It seems like this could get messy then if my commish is just waiting for MFL to add Mike Bell to the database. As it stands, no one drafted him so he is a free agent. But hypothetically (I know it is a long shot), what if he were to win the starting role in Denver? A starting RB would be awarded to whoever happened to be lucky enough to be online when the database was updated? I don't like the sounds of that.

So send in a waiver claim direct to the commish to let him know what you want to do.

Again, we use a placeholder player. Add a league message board post documenting that you are actually picking up Bell and are using a placeholder name. The problem with the Commissioner adding a 'custom player' is that MFL won't recognize that player except in name, and he cannot be removed (see points 3 and 4 below). So, once the real Bell is in fact added to the MFL database, your own league will have him showing up twice. Better to use the placeholder player.

From the MFL help page:

http://www.myfantasyleague.com/help/index.html

Code:
This screen allows a commissioner to enter up to 200 custom players for their league. some leagues might want to use these slots for things like college players, or any other players that we do not have in our database that an owner in you league would like to acquire. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: 1.	Please double-check our master player database list to be certain that the player you're looking for is not already listed in our player database.2.	This feature should only be used for players that are not currently on an NFL Team's 53-man roster. For example, you can use this to enter the name of a college player, but you should never use this feature to enter a player that has been recently signed with an NFL team's 53-man roster, as he will most likely be added to our master player database shortly. If you have any doubt whether or not you should manually enter a player into the system, please contact us before entering the player.3.	Custom players will never, under any circumstances be scored automatically by the system. Once a player is active in the NFL, he will be added to our master player database, and that player (not your custom-entered player, even if their names are identical) will be scored automatically at that point.4.	Once a custom player has been entered into the system, he may never be removed by you, in order that the integrity of all historical reports be maintained. However, a custom player's NFL team and position may be changed.5.	For full details on our policies regarding adding players to our master player database, please read our Players FAQ (Help > How To Get Additional Help, Players category).6.	All players entered via this page will be displayed on your league pages with an asterisk (*) next to their names.

What if you just create the custom player as Bell Mike or MIKE BELL? Create it such a way as it be obvious it's a dummy player until the real player is added to database. Seems drafting a scrub as a placeholder could be just as confusing keeping track of who stands for who.
