Mike Thomas? (1 Viewer)

Very high ranking from FBG. What am I missing? He goes against Revis or did something happen I'm not aware of.
I agree this ranking seems way out of line, but it is still early. That ranking may change as the week goes on. As a Thomas owner in two leagues, I'm kindo of hoping that Dodds knows something I don't (he usually does).

I was just discussing the ESPN projection with a buddy of mine yesterday and having a good laugh. We both agreed that FBG was likely to have something more down to earth for him. Imagine my surprise when I found Thomas to be projected quite high over here, as well. As has been said before, I'm just trying to figure out if there's something that I'm missing here.

This seems odd to me too. Mike Thomas does not seem to be a good enough receiver to do much against Reeves.

Very tough matchup, not sure how much the Tuesday rankings have to do with anything more than a quick statistical computation, vs. having actually taken a look at this matchup.

Maybe they expect Revis to be covering Hill, who seems like more of a downfield threat, than a possession guy in Thomas? Who knows ... seems like a risky guess.

Right, because Revis did such a great job against the Dallas receivers.
lmao did u watch the game? he gave up one catch to dez and that was it all game
I watched the game. I also watched Revis on the sideline pretending to be hurt again after getting beat. I also watched him cover a guy who couldn't even run the second half of the game.Mike Thomas is the third receiver on your team, but number one on his. If you think you need to start a Hayward-Bey, then go for it, but don't be surprised if Thomas outscores whatever number three guy you're plugging in.

I say the same thing every year, but will repeat it here again. Early Projections are almost entirely math. That's all I have time to do to get those out. I would prefer never releasing this set of numbers at all, because they really don't reflect very much thought (but it's clear our subscribers want to see some numbers as early as possible). This first set of projections look at the teams tendencies to run / pass and then forces these numbers to the players based on more algorithms. It does not look at individual situations (Thomas vs Revis here) or a bunch of other factors that will drastically alter the numbers. Those things happen later in the week (usually posted by Thursday morning). All told I need about 20 hours to have solid projections per week. By Tuesday, I am about 50% through my processes.

David,Does the same thing hold true for the Top 250 Forward list? Are those entirely generated by math/formulas or are there adjustments made throughout the week by you or Henry? Thanks.

IIRC scouting reports on Cromartie Thomas is exactly the type of WR that gives him fits (quick, technical receiver). Obviously Revis is a bad matchup but Thomas doesn't strictly play on one side and he could see a lot of looks if they can get him matched up on Cro.

No, The top 250 looks at combining two numbers (my current week) and Bob Henry's rest of season projections. We slot people around based on what we see for the games. My current week stuff is mostly math early, but it's just 1/13th of the whole formula so should have little impact. As my current week projections change, so does the custom top 250.

fwiw he is much lower now.

Has anyone actually confirmed that Revis is going to be matched up against Thomas all game long? Because I haven't seen anything definitive that says he is. And Jason Hill is spouting off about Revis like he's going to be matched up against him (Hill).

Bryant had the one catch against him, and while he was hurt the rest of the game, Revis is still hard for just about any WR to have a good game against. Hell, great WRs have a tough time against him, and Mike Thomas is no great WR. Benching him for a fringe/flex WR is a no-brainer.

I am pretty sure Hill is out injured. Great time to talk trash.
