Mike Vick > Anyone else not buying into the hype? (1 Viewer)

I'm going to create a sanctuary for those who might feel that recent allegations that Mike Vick is the "Best Player in the NFL" are premature.

How does anyone feel he will do going forward?

More of week 10... or more of week 11?

Looking for some serious assessment here.

Are you drunk?
Yes. Could you answer the question? Was last week more of a reflection of the Vick of the future or is it safe to temper our expectations?I am not pretending to be unbiased... but I am looking to generate discussion on Vick's FFL playoff status...

Are you asking if he will set records each week? I don't think that is likely. Last week was likely his best game of the season... Any other questions?

I've been a longtime Eagles fan so I always try to temper my expectations, however Vick has been very difficult to stop. Last year, Chris Johnson was unstoppable, Vick has looked close to that, so saying he could be the Best player this year is not a stretch. 5 out of the 6 weeks he's played, he has been crazy good.

Congrats to you not buying into the hype AFTER his worst game of the year.
I'm simply attempting to provide a place for the voice of reason to exorcise it's demons. Going forward I suspect other teams follow this gamplan. After a week of "greatest player in the NFL" chatter I suspect tempered expectations are in order.

If things continue as is, he will lead his team over what some call the best team in the NFL, the Giants. Not sure what that does for tempering expectations...

Does this gameplan come with the same front 4 the Giants are using?

I think, given this game, it's prudent for teams looking toward the big picture to look forward to weeks 15 and to a lesser extent 16.

For those of us who are looking forward to the fantasy playoffs... yes.

He's not as good tonite, but this would have qualified as a great game for him when he was in Atlanta.

I see. I couldn't tell if this was a fantasy-related thread or not. I'd probably take my chances with him. He's posting a middle of the road score in terms of FFL QB yet it's easily his worst non-injury game this season.

He's posted great numbers against WAS and JAX. Props. He's posted solid but unspectacular numbers against GB/DET/IND. Not bad. I'm far from saying Vick is a bum.... I'm just amused by the last week's worth of coverage and a little nervous for those of us who are forced to decide on playing him or not week 15...

Is that the crux of your argument? You're worried that your QB will only have 290+ total yards with a TD and a 2-point conversion in the fantasy playoffs? (Plus an easy TD dropped in the end zone).
Well given I don't get points for Easy TD's dropped in the endzone... and I'm in a TD heavy league... yeah.

See, if you would just list all leagues you belong in, along with rules, draft results, and the last 3 message board posts we can make sense of this thread

I'll defer to those who are in "easy TD dropped in endzone" leagues.

WOW...and I thought I just watched a pretty darn good game by Vick. No passing TD..but shouldahad at least one, and did have another rushing TD. 250+ yards against the NFL's second ranked defense and a completion % over 60%

Yes...Vick is a legit MVP candidate.

So the crux of your argument is that Jason Avant will drop a TD in the end zone the next time the Eagles play the Giants?

The cruz of my argument is that people were annointing him the "Best player in the NFL" and even if Avant didin't drop that pass... he passed for 1TD this week.......against the team he faces week 15. If I'm upsetting people by pointing this out, I'm sorry... merely trying to raise awareness to a potential issue to those of us who ill be in the payoffs. :)

So you're starting him week 15 with confidence?

Just seems odd to make this argument after the guy just had a very very good game against one of the NFL's elite defenses. TD's are not the only measuring stick.

Non-fantasy (ok, well kind of fantasy futbol related), how about that touchdown to int ratio? And I think he turned the ball over for just the 1st time all year with that fumble tonight.

I am beyond over all the coverage on him. I really don't need to hear about his darkest day in prison. I don't give a ####. He's a football player playing a game. He's entertaining to watch, but I soooooooooo don't care about his feelings and insight into his"rehabilitation".

MY statements started early in the 2nd half... and they were after watching the game. Most of us have been subjected to "Vick is the best player in the NFL" hyperbole over the last week. He's been very...VERY good to date. However the team he faces week 15 has just laid down a blueprint on how to actually bend and not break. Giants will still be playing games that patter at that point so I think it's fair to raise a red flag to Vick owners. Seems pretty simple really.

I don't really see how tonight would worry anyone. He posted a decent game. No QB is safe from having a bad FF game, and the events of tonight don't make me think he's a noteworthy risk in week 15. There will likely only be 3-4 QBs I'd start over him in week 15, and nothing changed today.

If his floor is 1 passing TD + 1 rushing TD.. I'll start him with confidence

He put up 278 combined yards and a touchdown in a little over a half of play against GB. Unspectacular?

HE had a passing TD? Or are you in one of those "almost is good enough" leagues?

Who are they?Granted< its a bit early... and I agree he's very likely to at least post decent numbers. However my point remains. He's been recent annointed the best player in the NFL, and this game (being that he faces them yet again in a very very important week) should have vick owners a bit nervois.

Just throwing that out there... take it for what you will.

Thanks for throwing in all that extra space... it really drove your point home. :unsure:INT's are generally a small-ish factor in most weekly QB squares from MOST top level QBs. It's a nice benefit from vick as of late.... but let's not hold on too tight. Might suffocate it.

Incoming post. Don't know about you guys... but whe a dude named DOMINATION posts.. I listen
