Mike Vick (1 Viewer)

For comparison sake, take a look at the equivalent analysis for Peyton Manning.

Historically he has only a 26% chance of netting you 15 Fantasy points or less and his total Fantasy average is 19.9 ppg.

I was thinking this might just be his last chance to be the guy in Atl.
With Vick at QB, the Falcons were within a game of the Superbowl, just two seasons ago. In 2 of the 3 years Vick has been the Falcons QB, they have made the play offs.

The Falcons have never had a losing season when Vick has been the Falcons starting QB.

The Falcons have been the NFL's #1, #1 & #4 ranked rushing team, with Vick as their starting QB.

He is a marketing wet dream for the Falcons.

But yeah, this is his last chance. :lmao:
Yeah, Trent Difer actually went to a Superbowl & won it so I guess he's better than Vick.

and Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Randall Cunigham...etc...etc...etc... ;) Seriuosly though, don't you think Vick brings a little more to the table than Dilfer?

You like Vick, I get that. But this has hardly been a dominant team with Michael at the helm. Yes, they have had excellent success running the football, but they have been horrid at passing the ball. The 3 years you point out, they were the NFL's #23, #30 and #27 ranked passing team with Vick as their starting QB.

Add his salary considerations into that and I don't believe it is a stretch to think the pressure is on for Vick to both improve in the passing game and for the Falcons to get back to and do well in the playoffs.
I agree that there's pressure on Vick to improve as a passer. Never said I didn't. What I do think is goofy, is to say that this is Vick's last chance in Atlanta.Falcons will be back in the play offs this year, whether Vick improves his passing or not. The improvements to their D, along with a strong running game, almost makes it a certainty.

Vick is responsible for the Georgia Dome selling out every year since he became the starter.

He is a money making machine for the Falcons & Blank is not going to kill the Golden Goose.

This is not a matter of me liking or disliking Vick. It's just the way it is.

Yeah he's a little faster. :D

So you are saying that the Falcons organization rather fill the seats every Sunday over having a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl? As long as Vick is under center, the Falcons will not win the Super Bowl.RAPTURE

Well RAPTURE,That is certainly an opinion you're entitled to, but the Falcons have already gotten to within a game of the Superbowl with Vick as their QB.

I think they like their odds with him, even if you don't.

Rapture,

Although I do agree with you that Vick will not take Atlanta to and through the Super Bowl [this year or any other], I do believe that the Falcons organization is a business and they do want to earn money from all of their investments. This includes Vick. Vick is one of the most exciting runners in the NFL and if showcasing his talent in the stadium brings them in $ Millions, then so be it.

Winning Championships is not guaranteed to bring you a profit. It should be the ultimate goal and it should bring you a profit, but it is not a guarantee. The Marlins lost over $30 Million the year they won the World Series.

Of course, the fans will only come and watch him while he can excel; he may have 2 or 3 more years with the caliber speed that he has and then the "cash cow" goes out to pasture ...

Vick is similar to R. Cunningham or K. Stewart. R. Cunningham was able in part to adjust and transition away from his legs. Stewart never did. IMHO Vick has not shown that he can adjust or transition, and he will end up just like Stewart.

First off, yes, football is a multi-billion dollar industry. I know if I was an owner, I would rather own a team that was wildly profitable but otherwise mediocre than a team that had a championship but was losing money (or just breaking even).Second off, I automatically ignore the opinions of anyone who issues blanket statements like "________ will not accomplish _______ with _________". For example "Mike Shanahan will not win a playoff game without John Elway", or "The Steelers will never win a superbowl with Cowher has coach", or "Trent Dilfer will never win a superbowl".

Quarterback is just one position (out of 22 starters and 2-3 specialists) on a team. It might not even be the most important position (the top 5-10 corners are paid more than the top 5-10 QBs, which means NFL GMs value shutdown corners higher than franchise QBs- and you might be a pretty smart guy, but I guarantee you NFL GMs know more about football than you do. Yes, even Matt Millen). Give any QB the 1985 Chicago Bears or 2000 Baltimore Ravens on defense, and that QB is suddenly capable of winning the superbowl (even if his name is Brooks Bollinger). Give any QB the 2005 San Francisco 49ers and suddenly that QB will be entirely incapable of even making the playoffs (and yes, I truly believe that not even Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino, or Johnny Unitas could have made the playoffs with that club).

Michael Vick has already made the NFC Championship game (which means he's been 1 win away from the superbowl). I think he's fully capable of reaching, and even winning the superbowl... and I don't even think he's a top-10 QB. You see... you don't have to be a top-10 QB to win the superbowl. Heck, you don't even need to be top 16. I know, this is radical stuff here, but I promise you it's true.
