Reportedly is ready to sign his tender and get back onto the playing field. Antonio Brown still is the WR to own of the Steelers receiving corp.

I heard that Wallace also scheduled a hamstring injury for early September. True or False? :lmao:
LOL..Probably called VJAX and asked how to do this. I'm probably exaggerating but it seems like that year VJAX held out, he played about 2 games all year.

If you were getting paid abut 5% of what you wanted with no guarantees and you were eating crow to come get your 5%, would you sprint to get there?the guy's human.
I would have probably reported to camp on time and continued negotiation like Antonio Brown did and most likely would have already signed a $50 million contract with $15-$20 million guaranteed.

Did they offer him that much? Thought it was like $40-44M range. Either way, i would have too. Change my family's life for generations playing sport? My ego's not too big to notice a good thing.

Human? HUMAN? Sorry, but these guys are all my fantasy robot slaves who are put on this earth purely to score me touchdowns. I got no room for human on my squad.

Says the guy from Pittsburgh. Let's see how quickly we can #### up this thread.

Mike Wallace - WR - Steelers

Unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace is expected to sign his one-year tender and report to team facilities this weekend.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms Wallace has told teammates that he plans to report this weekend. He re-join teammates after they square off against the Bills Saturday night, leaving two weeks and the final preseason game to tune up for the season opener. Although beat writer Ed Bouchette had previously opined that Wallace's actions had eliminated any chance of a long-term deal in Pittsburgh, he now believes the sides could reopen negotiations over the next two weeks. Our concern is that Wallace could spend September running clear-out routes for Antonio Brown after missing Todd Haley's offensive install in offseason practices and training camp.

Would you mind changing the blatantly misleading title of this thread, for Wallace owners everywhere? This news is not much different from what we've been hearing for the past two weeks.

Good news but I wonder what the point of waiting until the weekend. Cheaper air fare?
Dodging playing in one more game?I really wonder how much effort he gives until he gets some money.
DeSean Jackson just came out and admitted he purposefully took a dive last year for just that reason.http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/blogs/birds-nest/DeSean-Jackson-Admits-He-Was-Distracted-by-Contract-166870136.html

Doesn't want to play in preseason game 3. Signs Sunday. Practices a little. A few snaps in game 4 (maybe) and try to get a deal done before Sept 9. If he gets a deal done then he'll be the same Wallace. If not, he might play a little softer/slower to try to avoid a big injury.

$50M was the reported number but no one knows for sure. I would think the guaranteed money was the holdup.

Can we get a compare and contrast between VJax and Wallace and a point by point break down of how each GM handled the two respective WRs? Also I need some wild conjecture as to what was offered Wallace and what some arm chair QBs would do with a similar offer if drinking beer and parking it in a lazy boy while swilling beer and yelling at the TV paid $50 mill with $15 mill guaranteed. I'll hang up and listen...

Please God, no!

Anyone else feel like this is dragging on way too long at this point? Feels like the end of Return of the King.

As long as he really has stayed in shape with the trainer, his holdout is less of a concern than other holdouts."Hey Mike, run a 9-route. Ready? BREAK!"

Wallace's no-show yesterday is now adding fuel to the trade to Miami fire. I pray this doesn't happen as a Wallace owner.

First it was rumored it would be this past weekend, then after the Steelers game, then today conflicting reports saying today and Tuesday.

This is honestly starting to feel like those out of nowhere nondescript injuries that hit NBA players in February right before they get traded...

so say he signs tomorrow as expected, how long will it take him to grasp the offense, 3-4 weeks? right now he presents great value for someone who can be a top 10 wr

FWIW, Anthony Becht claims to have learned Haley's offense in 7 days.Throw in the fact that he's had a playbook since July and I don't think his understanding of the offense is really a big concern.Getting into football shape is more of an issue. Don't want to see any mystery hammy complaints popping up.

Mike Wallace headed for Steelers headquarters

Citing a team source, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports restricted free agent Mike Wallace has been picked up from the airport by Steelers officials and is currently en route to club headquarters.

He should be signing his one-year, $2.742 million tender shortly. Anderson initially reported Wallace would be at the facility in time for early-Tuesday team meetings, although a source more recently told her Wallace would be in "around lunchtime." ESPN's Jerry Rice opined on SportsCenter Monday that there's "no way" Wallace will be ready for a Week 1 impact after missing all of camp and the preseason, going so far as to suggest it could take Wallace "four to five games." Rice's take is obviously on the pessimistic side.

If he relied on his route-running more than his speed I could see this, but I'm thinking it takes 1-2 games to get back to his old self. I am not sitting him for those games unless I have a way better option.

I think I like your estimate better than Rice. I don't believe for a second that it takes Wallace 4 or 5 games to get up to speed.

Steelers picked him up from the airport. Expect signing by lunchtime. I'm surprised they could afford the transportation.

My guess is that Rice is using his personal experience, the true WCO, which as we all know is based on a tone of timing, etc. Not sure what Haley runs, but doubt it is as complex as the WCO straight from Walsh. Not saying how long it took Rice to grasp it, just that he observed a ton of guys trying to learn it, and it likely took a while, and that is really all he has to compare "learning a new offense" to.
