Mike williams to..... (1 Viewer)

Just..................wow.I don't think they've given up on Rogers, but they are obviously quite concerned about his health. If they use Williams as a TE, then that is an absolutely nasty offense. If they use him as another WR, then I'm thinking they use Rogers less to try and keep him healthy through a full season...

Sadly, I think Charles Rogers is becoming the next Marcus Robinson, only without the 1400 yard season. Rogers is done, IMO.

Surely they're projecting him to TE, right? Otherwise this pick makes no sense.
Pollard is the TE...MIKE is a WR. All this means is A) Williams was a huge value pick and/or B) Charles Rogers can not be counted on.

The worst part ab out this is that on their jerseys, if they stayon detroit, they're going to say R. Williams and M. Williams.

I have not heard anything about Rogers, is he having problems recovering ? It was only a broken clavicle

They could always trade Rogers as well...I think this was an insurance pick since both of their top WRs have gotten hurt.

I'm trying to make sense of this pick, I think this is a pretty good evaluation. They must have no confidence in Charles Rogers. I think Hakim should be concerned about his job too.

I like the pick. It looks like Detroit will be playing A LOT of 3 WR sets. To those who think that this sends a signal about Charles Rogers...I don't know but Indianapolis uses 3 WR. Granted they have Peyton Manning but maybe you see more of an Indianapolis type offense.

Still think they shoulda gone defense, with DJ. But hey, I'm happy about this pick, too. That will be one NASTY offense. I'm hoping Garcia gets a chance to operate with this offense, and keep Harrington on the bench. If not, this is definitely Joey's last chance... if you can't succeed with the players around you, see ya!

If they don't trade Williams, this pick was even dumber than Minny passing on Williams.Williams is not a TE. He won't play there, so if that's their thinking, they're truly morons. The only thing that makes sense is if they're really worried about Rogers health. Or they trade him.Otherwise, huge mistake for Detroit.

Just doesn't make sense for the Kevin Johnson signing this week. I know it is really depth at that signing, but wow what a core for the time being. I think trade to SD is the route though.

Remember, they just signed Kevin Johnson. I think this BPA stuff has gone too far, LOL. He'd be an interesting TE project with Detroit, though. Anybody think that's going to happen?

I highly doubt TE is what they are thinking.I think there's no trust in Rogers collar bone and I think they're dropping Hakim.

Going to be Williams and Williams starting, with KJ as 3 and if Rogers plays that's probably gravy in M&M's mind.

edit: unless a trade, which seems highly possible.

Problem is, Detroit had so many other needs. It's a head scratcher for me.

It's the Kansas City and Indianapolis plan. Sadly, I have yet to see it work.

It's official. Not sure I like this pick as a Roy Williams owner :wall:
I don't think this affects Williams' value much at all. He's still their best WR.
but with another target in the mix, and IF rogers is healthy, who gets the ball? you dont actually think harrington can make the decision, do you?

You must not be a Lions fan. Success isn't measured by Super Bowl victories.Playoff appearances wouldn't be a bad beginning.

:lmao: @ Rogers career being over. He has been injured people. This was clearly BPA and a good pick on top of that. I don't think there will be enough balls to go around but Rogers career is hardly over.

Charles Rogers hasn't cut it. He might be skilled, but he breaks (literally) easy. He will be a good WR 4 this year.Williams, Williams, Pollard, KJ is your starting lineup. WOW! Harrington to top 10??

He has had two freak breaks in his collarbone. Just like KJ slipping last year this is BPA. I don't think Mike will play TE but to say he automatically beats out Rogers is foolish too.

Right. 2 freak breaks and now a metal plate in his shoulder. Big Mike will take Rogers' position easily. This ain't even a contest.

Ok considering Mike Williams hasn't played an NFL down it is far from just being over.

We can't be thinking just about making the playoffs. I want at least one win - KC hasn't done that. Indy gets schooled by NE each year.

This pick speaks volumes at how the Detroit brass think Rodgers is recovering and his ability to make it a full season in the NFL.
