Miles Austin injury watch (1 Viewer)

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Cowboys fear Miles Austin may be out until their Week 5 bye after re-pulling his hamstring in Sunday's win over San Francisco.
Surprised no talk about the current #1 WR missing a few weeks. Let's post updates here for Austin owners as this could be a big blow.

yikes, the Cowboys just jumped to the head of the pack with their walking wounded...Dez, Miles, Romo, Felix all in 2 weeks.

I find it interesting that last night they already knew he was going to be out until wk 5. Why week 5?

Most of the news on this included that it was just speculation...I don't know how you speculate a time table like that so quickly after the game. Hopefully we will get some news today.

He already had this and reagg'd it. While week 5 sounds like a long time away, he'd only be out 2 weeks and that sounds about right to heal a hammy. Otherwise, he'll be dealing with it all season. I'm hoping for a quick recover.

I thought the week 5 thing came from Jerry Jones? Could be wrong on that.Either way, Dez should be huge over the next couple of weeks.

Not with 3 defenders draped on him...

Ugh.

Ogletree worth a look? Who is Jesse Holley? I mean besides being a showboater who holds the ball out and gets tackled at the one. Is Dwayne Harris ready? Did Laurent Robinson get injured learning the playbook?

Or is there nothing to see here, just Dez and Witten all day?

bye week
This. Its probably a 1-2 week injury, but with the week 5 bye, it makes the most sense not to rush it, and give it the extra week to heal.

Jesse Holley was on Michael Irvin's reality show a few years ago called "4th and Long". It was a competition between WRs and DBs with the winner of the show getting an invite to training camp. Holley edged out a guy named Andrew Hawkins who was awesome, but too small to play in the NFL. I watched the show with my kids, and we have been rooting for Holley ever since. Aside from a few preseason plays, he hadnt done anything in the NFL. Heck of a play he made in OT, but obviously does not have breakaway speed. If you missed the play, he was tracked down from behind at the 1 despite having a few steps on the nearest defender. I didnt notice him showboating or slowing down on purpose, but it may have happened.

He is a big guy with good hands. Probably would not have been on the field if Austin hadnt been foolishly used as a RB in the previous series and pulled his hammy. What a ridiculous play call that was by the way. On a key play, you use your WR as a RB? Its one thing if it's a hybrid player like Harvin or McCluster, but Austin was banged up coming into the game, and he is not used at all as a RB. Very odd call, and very costly one for the Cowboys.

:blackdot:

This was supposed to be re-evaluated today with an actual timetable. This is all based off of a Mort report. No other independent sources just yet.

Like you wrote, this is a reaggravation of a hammy issue. Unless the hamstring is completely healed, the risk of reaggravation will be there (see Foster). Hammys are worse than knee injuries. Knee injuries causes pain but, sometimes, you can still play with a knee injury. A strained hammy makes it impossible to run at full speed. You also run the risk of it being torn if you come back too soon. If he comes back in week 5, lets just hope that it doesn't flare up again.

Cowboys are just stupid... Second to last play of the game, they hand it off to Miles and he gets hurt in the pile... that was worth it... Put Dez back in punt returns so he gets killed... Stupid, stupid, stupid... they deserve it.
