Miles Austin is back...perhaps. (1 Viewer)

I see Miles is coming back this weekend. With the emergence of Dez and Robinson, what is a reasonable expectation for him this week and heading into the fantasy playoffs. Is he still a top 20 wide receiver going forward? I've alway thought he was the best receiver they had in Dallas and with Romo putting his injuries behind him, I think we could be looking at a playoff savior of sorts here for those who've been waiting and actually make it in.

No...

Miles Austin (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday.Although owner/GM Jerry Jones expressed optimism regarding Austin on Tuesday, it's still a fluid situation. With Laurent Robinson playing so well, the Cowboys can afford to err on the side of caution. Look for Austin to test the hamstring at some point on Thursday or Friday before a decision is made on his status. Nov 30 - 12:32 PMSource: ESPN Dallas

Just traded Austin in a salary keeper league for a half price Maclin. Can't trust him to stay healthy, and while Robinson isn't as good as his stats show, he is talented and he can definitely cut in.

i dont think he plays this weekend. I am both a austin and robinson owner and I plan to start Robinson over him regardless this weekend. Tougher decision will be next week if he gets some burn in this sundays game

As an Austin owner lucky enough to have Robinson, I feel kinda like the McFadden guys who also have Michael Bush. Robinson without Austin is probably a better play than Austin with Robinson, simply because the replacement players are always going to see some of the targets/carries. So, while I want my superstars back, I'm a little hesitant to think he's going to hit the money numbers his replacement has been in his absence.

He's missed a lot of time this year and its a hamstring. So he's probably not in the best of shape, no doubt would have a bit of rust to peel off and would likely be very cautious with it. Or at the very least, still in the back of his mind. He's the best WR on that team (saying a lot) but IMO it will take a couple weeks for him to be 100%. I wouldn't expect big #'s out of the gate, which sucks because I'd sure love to pencil him in this week.

Well put.

he only had 2 good games before he went down and caught 5 balls total in the 2 weeks before he got hurt (one of those games Robinson went over 100 with a TD as well). no one will be a #1 option as far as dominating the target list. if you assume Witten gets his 6-7 targets and Murray + other backs and WRs get 9 targets that leaves 18-20 targets to be divided between Robinson, Dez and Austin. I'd guess it will be pretty equally split between those 3 because Romo loves Robinson and he will be getting the other teams #3 option at CB. I would still play Robinson first and Dez 2nd until Austin shows me something

Even if Austin does play this weekend I have to assume he won't be full go. He's had hamstring injuries to both legs this season so I can't believe they're going to put him out there for 50 or 60 snaps. I have Robinson and am playing him regardless.

I am curious to hear from owners of both Dez Bryant and Laurent Robinson. When Austin does return, I think it's easy to assume that Bryant eats into Robinson's playing time. But Robinson's been so good of late, I'm not sure this assumption is correct.

Are you going to start Robinson over Bryant in your fantasy playoffs?

I have both...and this scenario is killing me.I have been playing both of them. But sitting Dez this week for Harvin. I have A. Brown too...so huge decisions for me once the playoffs start.

RotoWorld says the GM today made it clear Austin is unlikely to play. Wish they would just put him on the IR so we wouldn't have to worry about keeping him rostered.

I picked up Robinson with the possible intent of starting him over Bryant, and I am very interested in this Austin situation. One wonders if Austin will be fully healthy when he returns, and two bad hammys does not bode well for a long stretch of playing time once he does return.

From Rotoworld

Jerry Jones: Miles Austin unlikely to play Owner/GM Jerry Jones now acknowledges that Miles Austin (hamstring) is unlikely to return for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

And Laurent Robinson owners rejoice! Jones' early-week optimism has waned since Austin failed to practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Expect him sit out one more week in preparation for the Week 14 NFC East showdown with the Giants. It's worth noting that Robinson was targeted 13 times to Austin's six in the two games before Austin went down with the injury.

Honest assessment - even if he suits up this weekend he will play few snaps - next week will see more snaps - by week 15 they will be using him back in his old role. Laurent will still be used - Miles will resume his old role. Regardless of that, his numbers will be as good or better than before because......the emergence of a valid running game in Dallas coupled with the reliability of Witten. Don't expect miracles this week or possibly next - but he will be primed for week 15-17 unless of course he blows the hammy out again. All of this is speculation - but I think it is fairly sound reasoning based on the situation in Dallas as a whole. In a way I think Dez is affected as much from Miles return as anybody else.
