Watching the play live my first thought as soon as he did was, "well there comes the flag" and sure enough.. When you have the QB wrapped up, you just don't slam him to the ground now.. It's the way it's been for a few years now.You just hug him till the ref blows the whistle?![]()

Just hold on.. He had him wrapped up, he wasn't going anywhere.. there just wasn't any need to slam him backwards into the ground.. If it was reversed and that was Bridgewater getting slammed down and they didn't throw the flag us Purple fans would be screaming about no flag..Brees wasn't down and there was no whistle? What the #### was the defender supposed to do?
Serious question here. Not being a Richard.

yep.. It is the way the NFL is now.. The QB is fully protected.. If you have him wrapped up in your arms just keep hugging until he either returns theYou just hug him till the ref blows the whistle?![]()

No kidding ... Draft analysts were bending over backwards to affirm that TB was a pocket QB, never ran, couldn't run, etc.Bridgewater is much faster than I thought.
Evebtually, they're just going to have to with flags on th QB's belt.IF the NFL has commited to protecting QBs then blow the freakin whistle when they are wrapped up like that.
Well, they only give him those lanes because he can't run.Wish Brees could run ... He has huge lanes all the time.
This is exactly what I was thinking.IF the NFL has commited to protecting QBs then blow the freakin whistle when they are wrapped up like that.
Because they're a well coached football team able to hide weaknesses that are exposed on the road?Easy to see why the Saints are undefeated at home.
