Round 2:

A) Jon Alston

B) One of the top 3 guards

C) Another LB (Abdul Hodge/D'Qwell Jackson)

d) BPA at the D-Back spot

I thought we had an OFFICIAL draft thread to reduce clutter on page 1.

Otherwise, I would have started an OFFICIAL Raiders thread.

 The subtitle says "Post Updates here". If the mods want to delete this thread, I won't fuss.

I'm just sayin'.....You KNOW in ten minutes there's going to be 32 OFFICIAL team threads.

I'd really like to get a linebacker or an OL with us picking up Chester, but I doubt Justice will be there so is Greenway really that bad?

Cutler would be nice too. He's got a strong arm comparable to Culpepper and it was very noticeable how limited our offense became last year with Johnson's significantly weaker arm. I don't know how much Childress plans to open up deeper passes though.

The chances of landing a QB got a LOT better when the Jets passed on Leinart.....

Yes they did. I think Cutler is a Viking without having to trade up.
I'll breathe a lot easier once the Cards draft. It doesn't make sense but I could see Denny taking Cutler here and twisting the knife in the Vikes back one more time. Maybe that would be the best thing that could happen - force them to take a LB here and maybe a QB in round 2 or even 3 to groom.

One or both of Leinart and Cutler is going to make it past the Cards (barring someone trading ahead of them)

Hopefully Buffalo doesn't take Leinart here. I think their best pick would be Justice, but Losman and Holcomb or awful and Leinart is probably the most sound guy available. Plus the hometown fans would like it.

Well, ####.

If Greenway is gone at 17 trade down and take DeAngelo.

As a Packer fan I hope Minnesota drafts Greenway. He's slow, weak and wasn't even the best LB on his own college team last year (Hodge). Greenway's one of the most overrated players in this draft.

Cutler to Denver. Still believe they ought to explore Matt Schaub.

Unless you just don't believe Schaub has the tools to succeed, I don't know why they can't get a deal done. He's cheap (salary wise) & he's been in the West Coast offense for the past few years and there's not the 2-3 years of develop time.

For a 2nd round pick I'd do it... or trade down and get a late 1st rounder and then do it.

If Winston Justice falls to the Vikings, I think they should take him.
I wouldn't mind him or I might take a chance on Cromartie. Other than that I would try to trade down. Although that seems to be a tough deal unless someone wants a WR pretty bad. Still bummed they didn't pony up one of their extra #2's to get Cutler.

I can't see it being CB. They moved Fox to CB and Smoot seems refocused.

I agree. But seriously, is Greenway as bad as the latest talk has made him out to be?
No. He's going to be a great NFL linebacker.
I respectfully disagree. He'll be good...he won't be great. He just doesn't shed blockers easily enough and is pretty weak for a linebacker. You can get equal value at the LB spot in the 2nd round. There are many positions where that is not true.

He's a great fit for a Tampa 2, though.I'd rather they went another direction and took Jon Alston in the 2nd.

Damn! All the NFC North teams keep picking the LB's. This is a going to be a tough division to run the ball against.

He's a good fit for the defensive scheme and he's a good player. He's just not an impact-type guy. He's a complimentary guy. He'd have been a rock solid 2nd rounder for a team...but he's not difference maker which is what you want in a 1st round guy. Just my opinion after watcihng the guy play live a dozen times or so.

Not knowing who you are or whether you qualify to judge players or not I think I'll go with this quote till I see differently:
Has rare speed for a linebacker and fine instincts, gives total effort at all times and has exceptional coverage ability. Has the hip flip and movement skills of many safeties after previous experience at that position. A downhill player who is able to makes plays all over the field and does a good job of playing off blockers and getting through traffic.

I just wonder what LB position Greenway will play. He could compete with Leber at SLB but I wonder if they will try to make him a MLB.

As long as they went this direction, I'd like to see them get Hodge in the 2nd.

That Iowa defense was awesome last year with those two.

 Leber on one side, Greenway on the other. ILB will most likely be drafted, rumor has it as Nap Harris :X .
