Missing Malaysian jet news (1 Viewer)

I feel like a lot of you are letting facts get too much in the way of coming up with good, reasonable theories.

Unrelated, has anyone ruled out whether terrorists built a runway on the ocean floor? Seems like this would be a perfect place to hide a plane, seeing as how everyone is looking for a plane ABOVE the water.

I wonder if Pakistan has a new underwater base in the southern Indian Ocean? If so, kudos to them.

CNN saying the currents could have caused the wreckage to drift 1100 miles. The search area is 1500 miles from Australia. A few more days and they should be able to search the beaches.
...where the sharks could feast on the search & rescue crews as they pull wreckage onto the beach. The Shark Theory.

How is this for a ####ty theory:

Co-pilot kills pilot, then sets plane on course for south Indian Ocean, then commits suicide and passengers can't get into the locked cockpit.
I read somewhere that there is some sort of override code for the door lock. I'm not sure if it's only known by the pilots or not. I think the example they gave in the article is if Pilot A got up to go take a dump, and Pilot B wouldn't let him back in the cockpit, Pilot B could get in via some sort of override.

I guess if it's only known by the pilots, they'd be screwed. Brings me back to an earlier question of just how secure are those cockpit doors? Could a cabin full of passengers force their way in if given a few hours or is it literally like a vault?
There's a Pilot A Took a Dump Theory? :lmao:

Any word yet on when Lloyd poured the bottle of laxative into Harry's coffee?
Exactly how did the co-pilot know that the pilot was going to take a dump during the flight or even in the first half of the flight?

Laxative in his coffee... duh!

LMAO...this wasn't a theory on how they hijacked it, but rather the reasoning for having a security code on the door.

I love how this has evolved into a theory though. Someone call CNN.

So what is the thinking ...Pilot wanted to vacation in Antarctica and wanted to take a plane load of passengers for body warmth?

Unless this plane flies into a landmark in the next few weeks, it's seems highly unlikely we will ever know exactly what happened. The conditions off the coast of Australia sound miserable.

I see CNN is now saying "The pilot made a phone call from his cell before the plane left."

Well, now I'm convinced it was suicide. What person in their right mind uses a phone before leaving the country?

Jebus, CNN really doesn't have jack-ddikke, does it?

Spidey sense: 99.9999% chance it was some prosaic demise to the plane and passengers. Human beings were flying the thing, and they don't always follow protocols and procedures. Train for something 10,000 times, and you can still eff it up the 10,001st time.

And all these experts ruling things out as "highly unlikely" ... well, this was a "highly unlikely" event. So there's no need to jump from simple stuff like "ran out of fuel" or "engine failure" to "Terrorism!" or "Pilot suicide!". Yes, for real: sometimes two (or mroe) unrelated systems break down at once. Someitmes people drop the ball on established procedures. Long odds and all.

I am guessing 80 percent of what we now know is total bull#### and it will all make more sense when we find out which parts are factual. We currently have more misinformation than information. Nothing makes any sense with the facts provided.

ETA: Except black holes of course.

What I learned in the Walking Dead thread is that when zombies are involved, gas becomes old and unusable. So if the plane is/was a zombie, its gas would have gone bad. So we should look real close to the point at which it turned into a zombie.

So uhhh, any new news?
Unconfirmed reports that one of the passengers was wearing a green shirt. I don't want to speculate what that means, but it's worth noting that green is both the color of the Libyan flag, and the color adopted by Iranian dissidents during the 2011 revolution.

CNN has a psychic on... [ETA: it's Headline News]

“Naturally, I don’t have hard, concrete evidence,” Lisa Williams confessed. “I think any psychic who has hard, concrete evidence can’t do their job correctly.”
Williams said that her powers are telling her that some of the passengers are still alive and are being held in an undisclosed location. She added that she knew this because she was attempting to contact MH370′s lost passengers for their living relatives.

officials say the plane was carrying highly flammable lithium ion batteries after denying it a few days ago.

Do they have an idea of what or who was on this plane? Geez

Let alone the Irish, who are the most dangerous of all, as anyone living in 1852 can certify.

Code:
O Paddy dear, and did ye hear the news that's goin' round? The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground! No more Saint Patrick's Day we'll keep, his color can't be seenFor there's a cruel law ag'in the Wearin' o' the Green."I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the handAnd he said, "How's poor old Ireland, and how does she stand?""She's the most distressful country that ever yet was seenFor they're hanging men and women there for the Wearin' o' the Green.""So if the color we must wear be England's cruel redLet it remind us of the blood that Irishmen have shedAnd pull the shamrock from your hat, and throw it on the sodBut never fear, 'twill take root there, though underfoot 'tis trod. When laws can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they growAnd when the leaves in summer-time their color dare not showThen I will change the color too I wear in my caubeenBut till that day, please God, I'll stick to the Wearin' o' the Green.

[sarcasm] Are these different from normal Lithium Ion batteries? [\sarcasm]

I know that there have been reports of lithium ion batteries catching on fire, but calling them highly flammable (if quoted from a news report) is highly irresponsible. I don't think they'd allow them in practically every portable electronic device if the risk was that high.

That's all we need is for this to be proven to be the case. If it is, the FAA will enact new No-Lith Ion regulations. Then you won't be able to fly with your phones or laptops, and it'll take 3 weeks to order a new laptop battery from Taiwan because they'll have to bring it over on a dolphin or something.

Or Antarctica
Brings up a new theory. Can you land a 777 on a huge sheet of ice, refuel, and take off again. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned salt flats.
Did the deleted files on the pilot's computer include Firefox?
You must think in Russian.

But you must have Clint's Russian accent.

At this point, is there any chance this was hijacked and landed somewhere? Is it still part of the official investigation or is it just assumed to be in the water somewhere?

I don't think it'll ever be found. Pieces maybe, but not the major part of it.
My guess (I won't dignify utter guesswork by calling it a theory) is that there's a 0.001% chance it landed at Diego Garcia (because the only people who might possibly be able to pull off disappearing the plane and covering it up is the US) , a 0% chance it landed anywhere else, and a 99.999% chance it's in the ocean.

On the other hand, I'd guess each passing day is a sign to conspiracy types that it was hijacked.

I believe there are restrictions on them in passenger flights depending on carefully packaged they are.

IIRC it caused at least one UPS plane to crash recently and could also lead back to the smoke in the plane theory.

I just don't see how the Malaysian government can be so clueless to what was actually on this plane. All of the wrong information begins to seem like they were at fault (cargo or maintenance violations) or hiding an intentional act by the pilot to save grace.

Why was he saving grace? Was he saving it to say over the fish or the steak? Or over the lasagna?

lol auto correct save face

I found this article pretty compelling.
Thanks for this. From the link:

Another explanation is that a certain kind of combustion in the cargo hold could rapidly introduce toxic fumes and smoke into the cabin and flight deck. The National Transportation Safety Board found that there was an unusually large consignment of lithium-ion batteries on the cargo manifest.
So the lithium-ion battery thing wasn't schtick after all. Well, that's a new piece of news for all those folks who pop in twice a day asking for "real news".
