9?Pink Floyd - What Do You Want From Me

This is my favorite tune off of the Division Bell.  Not sure if it was on anyones radar.

and speaking of being Mr. Oblivious.

I had no idea that this was the same song as the one by The Wedding Present that I'd medium-listed over the weekend
Well I had no idea they covered it.  Heavy.

Duran Duran used to do it live but it's kind of painful..  I don't think I've ever been blown away by any of their live material, considering how much they used to push it.  Maybe they just wanted the world to be sure how much teenage ##### they were getting.

I think that makes it @Ilov80s and me on the clock and I'm going to bed, so I'll leave you with this fantastic song from a band that probably either hits or misses with a lot of people the first time they here Steve Bays' voice (though it's toned down here from their earlier stuff). This is their last album and they didn't tour or anything on it (yet?) which kind of bums me out because I never got a chance to see them (their album before this was 2010) and their 2002 and 2005 albums were two I absolutely wore out (plus they got a lot of indie/rock dance play love in these parts and I was 19 when Make Up the Breakdown came out, so you know, I drank and partied with this as my music a lot. GB Rock n' Roll Saturdays at the Trasheteria).

Of all the 2016 songs I've drafted - basically all my picks - this was actually the highest when I did my annual best songs of the year thing, but I knew I wasn't in danger of anyone sniping it. I think I'm moving off 2016 now, so I'll slide this in.

10.07 - Kid Who Stays in the Picture - Hot Hot Heat

Bonus! One of my favourite songs ever but not enough words - Middle of Nowhere

10.03 - KRS One, Step Into a World (Rapture's Delight)

This was one of the songs I would have paired up (with Rapture) in the juke box draft if I decided to link up my pairs of picks. I don't think I've ever picked this in any draft so far.

I think we've talked about this before. Hot Hot Heat was one of my favorite acts in 2002, and if there was anything from Make Up The Breakdown suitable -- and I remembered -- I think I'd have taken it. After that, I didn't like their output as much, but they were a rollicking band on that album. Just sublime.

I have no idea of what band I was thinking of as Explosions in the Sky but this wasn't it :bag:

Pretty solid though
Maybe because we discussed a similarly-named band taken by Bonzai last draft?

Regardless, glad you like it. It's got a loud/soft dynamic to it that was huge in the aughts.

eta* They're also the band featured in Friday Night Lights a lot. Sort of the soundtrack/house band.

Somebody That I Used to Know - Gotye

This song definitely got overplayed a few years ago so it probably left a bad taste in many mouths. However, this surprise hit, was a hit for a reason. It's a real catchy tune and fits my heartbreak/relationships gone bad/breakup theme to an absolute t.

Does a song have to appear on an official album in order to be drafted? There are many versions of the song done by other artists but the one I like best is only on live bootlegs.

I can just hear in my mind JML complaining about premature edraftulation and rushing through things.  This has 0 to do with pace, as I really like the pace of the draft, and everything to do with bookkeeping and trying to figure out who is on skip and who is OTC.  Our pace has been to get through right around 2 rounds a day, so I am going to kick this thing into 2 a day territory.  We have done this the last few drafts without suffering from lack of banter and checking in, so I have no worries about that.  The other thing we are going to run into tomorrow is some March Madness maybe making the autoskips increase.  Here is what I had in mind:

1.  Anytime before noon est drafters who owe their 10th round pick can post their selection.

2.  Anytime after noon est you can take your 11th round selection.

3.  Thursday = Rounds 12/13  (same format - using noon est as the cut off for the next round).

4.  Friday = Rounds 14/15

5.  Saturday and Sunday we will do 1 round each - 16 and 17.

6.  Monday = Rounds 18/19

7.  Tuesday = Round 20 and posting your mix!

Like I said, I am liking the pace and banter - I don't think this kills it, just makes less headache to keep track of skips.  I THINK I have enough songs written down to get through the draft, so now I can start listening to some songs that I haven't heard before this draft!

You can draft any version of the song that you want, we just encouraged people to also take stuff that's on Spotify for the mix(es).

The only rule with the "other" versions of songs is that (Live) or (remix) didn't count toward the title's length for this draft.

What I'm taking away from this is that tomorrow night = italicized lyrics night??

Ok. I'll try to find the best version on Spotify if I end up drafting this song.

Also, am I an idiot or does the free mobile version of Spotify not let you listen to a specific song?

Dunno, I am a high roller.  :moneybag:

I think @El Floppo rocks the free version, and I don't remember him having troubles.  Maybe there is something to deactivate in settings?

I've drafted this one before so I've tried to stay away from it, but it's great.  Love the pick.

Back in my college radio days when I cohosted a sports talk show, we would give ourselves an underwriting break every half hour or so.  I think we played "Step Into a World" for our first break every show.  This song and Mos Def's "Umi Says" were our go-tos.

Looks like we had everybody through 10.10 draft, so anybody who has a pick after that in the 10th can draft whenever.
