MLB in-season thread (2 Viewers)

Dexter Fowler just got caught in a rundown between first and second and ended up doing a Willie Mays Hayes slide into first base, coming up about 5 feet short.

:lmao:

Ian Kennedy mowed down what's probably the best offense in the NL tonight.

8IP / 6H / 1BB / 1ER / 9K vs the Reds

Go get him if he's available, he looked fantastic.

Ha, Casey Blake just schooled the 3rd base ump, whoever it was. Padres had bases loaded, bottom of the 9th, 2 out. Broxton, who just had to close out the previous game 3 1/2 hours earlier because it was suspended until today. It was a slow roller kind of between third and short that he was NOT going to get to he was playing so far back, so he ran into the the runner, making it look like interference. He clearly did it on purpose, the players were laughing about it as they were going through their handshakes. Pretty smart play at a point where the wheels were about to fall off. Idiot umpire, btw, I just saw another replay, it was pretty obvious.

This Jered Weaver kid.....
KKKKKKKKKKKKKK
 He was mowing them down today. Not that I mind but what's with Scioscia letting throw 125?
They went what last night, 15? I'm sure he was trying to save the pen. No day off tomorrow, trip to Chicago....And Weaver's a horse... I looked at his numbers from last year, I think I counted 4 outings last year that he didn't go 100+ pitches. He didn't touch 125 last year, but he was pretty much always 100+

Ah good points, forgot about last nights marathon. Love Weaver glad he's picking up where he left off last year. Kid's a machine.

Wow... taking a run away for an out of the baseline slide of that caliber is just pathetic :lmao: Unreal...
He was pretty far out of the basepath. Oakland looks to have starting pitching that is as good as any team.
But with that lineup, it could mean a lot of 1-0 losses.
:sadbanana:Very true. They won yesterday 1-0...with the lone run being unearned. They lost the game before 2-1. It's pathetic.

I will probably get flamed for this, possibly banned... but watching highlights of the White Sox is quite painful for an out of towner when all I hear is Hawk Harrelson screaming STRETCH....YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOAAAAAAAARD YESSS!!!!! Like I said it's probably because it's the only thing I hear over and over, but it's damn annoying. :bag:

Why on Earth would you get flamed for that? Not sure I would listen to a single broadcast for the Rangers if they had Hawk Harrelson announcing (although John Rhadigan is doing his best to make that happen anyways).

I just assumed he was a baseball treasure and I would be insulting the masses.

The "put it on the board" stuff gets old, but I like him otherwise. Don't love him, but don't mind him either.

His call of Dan Johnson's HR vs Thornton was the worst call Ive ever heard in my life. Like he was announcing tea and crumpets

hes getting into ron santo territory. very hard to listen to. santo was easily more lovable though. i swear hawk thinks theres some big umpire conspiracy to destroy the WSox each game.

And he uses "We" all the time. I think its ok if fans use we but not an announcer. Even John Sterling doesnt do this and hes a dreadful homer.

Drink!!!!Ever tried playing "Hawkisms"? You have to drink every time Hawk uses one of this lame catch phrases.

Never really tried playing, but I'm sure you wouldn't make it out of the first inning without being bombed.

I could just hear him now "this is the greatest game I've ever heard of....it reminds me of back in 64 when we used to........." :banned: :banned: :banned:

Not as bad as John Sterling's "It is high, it is far, it is gone". So dumb.

 Oh he's 1A on the list of most grating announcers. THHHEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEAEEEEEEE YANKEES WIN!! :yucky: :X :hot:eta: The trio of Phils announcers of Wheeler, Sarge and McCarthy are pretty bad too. Luckily they don't have any skin crawling signature calls.

Actually, its more often "It is high, it is far, it is.... caught by the pitcher"Plus he has not one, but two, signature HR calls for each different player.

do any of them involve the word gargoyle?

Why has it taken about a decade to figure out that Halladay might actually have a personality?

He pretty much kills it in the MLB2K11 commercials.

He is the absolute worst.

Weird stat I just saw on MLB Network

Rangers 9-1 start is tied for the best start for a team that made the World Series the previous year

They are tied with 4 different teams, all of the Giants teams.

Really not understanding all of this Hawk hate. Never seen anything like it before.
Ya know, Hawk has actually started to grow on me a little. After spending years despising his calls on WGN, I now listen to 60ish announcers across the league on MLB.TV. After figuring out I can't tell the difference between about 40 of them, I started to appreciate Hawk's shtick. He's a ridiculous homer, overplays his signature calls, and isn't the slightest bit ashamed of it.... but dammit... he's his own man.

I'm pretty sure Steve is going to punch him in the face one of these days.

I'm sure Steve is just happy to be in the shadow of greatness as opposed to the drunk slurring fool, and his ###### grandson, that he had to deal with for about 20 combined years.

Josh Hamilton leaves game in 2nd with injured shoulder.
damnWhat happened?
Slid into third with a triple and then slid into home trying to score on the world's shortest sacrifice fly.(Ball fouled to 3B, catcher was going after ball, pitcher was asleep and not covering home, but catcher made it back in time to tag out Hamilton.)
"News not good" after Hamilton took an MRI. Update coming up on MLBN.
