***MNF-Chicago at Pittsburgh*** (-7) O/U 39 Barn Burner in the making... (1 Viewer)

39 points has to be one of the lowest projections I have seen all season and it seemed like we had some pretty low scores all weekend so it makes me think the opposite might happen tonight and the O/U looks interesting.

Go!

The Monday Night booth with Levy, Griese and Riddick, and then i'll get to the Mannings, which btw: are they going to be making brownies tonight on the Deuce?

-Levy IMO is one of the best I have heard in a while doing the play by play. I think his voice and tone are fantastic, not too up in the clouds, down to earth and he has some strong comedic timing or ability to put a funny or humorous spin on a great many things. To be honest, i don't think he even needs these other 2 guys in the booth and think he could be stronger with just a 2-Man booth because he can provide plenty of his own observations and they are usually right, his awareness reminds me of Marv Albert. I know he has been doing hockey for a long time and he's probably better at that than this but honestly I feel very comfortable with him in the booth and he doesn't sugarcoat it when things are wrong or teams are messing up. He also is good at setting up his two partners.

-Griese is inadvertently funny and blurts out some hysterical things but it's not because he is telling jokes, he gets his foot caught in his mouth more than I do and he tends to let the other two in the booth beat him up, he can take a joke even when he is the joke and that's what makes him work in this trio they assemble, I think they need him in between Levy and Louis Riddick.

-I was a bigger fan of Louis Riddick prior to the MNF assignment he landed. I do enjoy his commentary but sometimes he can wear just a little thin, almost know what he's going to say before he speaks. That said, he has conviction and seems to know what he is talking about most of the time and keeps Griese on his toes, almost like Griese is scared of him at times.

I like this trio and would prefer they not mess with it for a while. They have shuffled so many on off this set for some time except when they had Gruden.

The Manning Brothers offer a different spin and appeal to a lot of fans who get bored listening to the usual football booth week in and week out. I can't see this being a long term thing unless every couple years the baton is passed off to a recent HoF level QB or player and they can widen the audience. I think it's interesting that ESPN dedicates 2 full channels to MNF, that's at least making an attempt to appeal to a couple audiences that tune in on Monday Nights, some fans might watch that have no real rooting interest in the game just to see Peyton and Eli, they are somewhat funny and you know Eli just rips Peyton any chance he gets around the house. It's subtle at times but you can tell Eli loves getting under his skin.

I haven't heard the Manning's broadcast yet.  I understand they aren't doing tonight's game, correct?  If so that is too bad because it would have been interesting to hear what they say about Roethlisberger since Peyton often played the Steelers and Eli was of the same QB class.

I'll be going to the game tonight and the weather is going to be perfect.  High today in the low 60s with kickoff temps in the mid 50's and upper 40's by the end of the 4th quarter.   No chance of rain and little to no wind.

The things I like about the ManningCastTM are twofold

  • Yes, they're goofy and irreverent and break balls and have fun guests like Marshawn who DGAF
  • But they will also get into the nitty gritty about what the defense is doing and what the QB is (or should be) doing in response
The main broadcast tries to do a little of both but end up being too safe/corporate to be fun and too dumbed-down to be educational, so they accomplish neither.

I like the trio a lot myself. But tonight is gonna suck. Offensive execution was garbage across the league yesterday. This will be much worse.

I do think the score will be down tonight, this weekend we saw a lot of low scoring affairs or offenses that were challenged to just pick up first downs.

I like Pittsburgh to win a close game, something along the lines of 20-17 and I could see Pittsburgh leading by like 10-6 in the 2nd Half or quite a while before they can pull away, maybe the defense will seize on some opportunities that Fields provides.

Chicago Defense will need to set up some short Fields in order for the Bears to have a chance to win tonight.

Any Chi beat reporters indicating expected usage from Monty?  Gotta make a last second call between K Herbert (.25ppc and 1.5ppr for RBs) and ARob…seems like a full RBBC still gonna be more valuable than poor ARob, though

They mentioned the 9:00pm start time of MNF back when many of us grew up in the 70s and 80s and I could never hardly get to stay up until Halftime, totally remember never seeing the end of any MNF game a skid until Miami hosted the Bears in '85.

Judging by the first few plays it might be a long night for Bears' offense, looks like their fans picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Fields not getting much help from his teammates and coaches. Illegal formation negated a nice throw to Robinson. Plus an unnecessary TO,

I know Najee needs a breather every now & then, but I cringe when he comes off the field  and we have to watch Ballage.

Incredible play by the Steelers, Cam Heyward gets the interception, don't see a lot of those by the DLinemen

Granted, I’ve only seen him live one other game, but Harris doesn’t look particularly explosive, shifty, or powerful. The Bears have some good LBs, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of wiggle to his game.

Trying to decide if I’d invest him him in the 1st in redraft leagues next year. I may have to watch highlights from all of 2021 to decide.

Harris has some Leveon in his game. Very good receiver for a RB. Good at the GL too.

Jayson Taylor was a tremendous IDP asset. Insanely productive. My first year of IDP was 20006 & Taylor was an absolute monster for me. like having one of the elite TEs. Huge weekly advantage. I ‘shipped that year, and hardly knew anything about IDP. Just knew Taylor was a good player & the dude before me took the best LB so I figured I needed a good DL. Taylor made it easy to win.

on the game, this game’s getting away from the Bears in a hurry. Roethlisburger had time to knit a sweater back there.

The new rule makes it a 15-yard spot foul if the ball-carrier "initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the crown (top) of his helmet" (via the Los Angeles Times), while the carrier and defenders are both outside the tackle box.

It's right there in the second word: "forcible." In a league where this clear touchdown catch was lawyered into an incomplete pass, how will "forcible" be interpreted consistently by different officials, let alone different officiating crews?
