Mom needs a new computer $700-$800 budget (1 Viewer)

What does she need it for?

Chromebook is my answer if its just surfing and streaming

Have to know what she is using it for to give a good recommendation.

All-in-one

She’s not a graphics designer or gamer. She’s an old lady. She surfs the web, uses MSoffice.

She doesn’t need a laptop and I know you guys all love chrome books, but my experience with them is that they are slow and crappy.

I’d like to get her something that I’m not gonna have to replace in three or four years.

Chromebooks are definitely not slow. There are some crappy ones though.
If I was to buy my mom a new computer it would 100% be a chromebook
As long as you keep the updates going - mine is like 6 years old. Works like it did when new

But I don't install a ton of stuff on it like I would a pc

Chromebooks are only in laptop form, right?

All-in-one is easier for her. She never moving the computer.

Sorry I was just commenting on that after you got a couple good suggestions.

I use mine as a PC/Tablet..... Its a touch screen with detachable keyboard. My daughter has a "top of the line" "laptop" version.

You can dock them .

The LEnovo above I think is solid

man i have had great luck going to best buy and telling them honest here is what i want to spend it is for my lady and i am broke can you please help me get the best deal and computer i can and then they normally really help me out and get me something for less than i am looking to spend i mean its one of those things where i sort of just say thanks man and know in my head that im going to pass on so here i am take that to the bank brochachos

I would recommend a previous generation work laptop, ie dell lattitude, these can be found within your budget pretty easily.

These typically are more expensive for the performance, but have parts that are typically more reliable. Laptops have a fairly high 5 year failure rate.

edit: ignore below, sub 800 dollar model is out of stock.

If it was me, I would go with the below, but some assembly required.

I gave my Chromebook to my mom and these all in ones seem cool. Can I use them as a monitor by plugging a Switch into them?

They do make Chromeboxes to pair with the keyboard, mouse, and monitor of your choice. Basically the chrome book version of a Mac mini.

They can also be mounted piggyback on the monitor for the all-in-one look.
