Vikings QB Brett Favre has been apparently texting any media source that'll listen messages that he won't be able to play tonight. Why he even still has a cell phone with text capabilities is another question but that's a different thread).

What's your guess for the chances that he starts tonight's game? For purposes of the poll, assume he'll start and play, not do a lame start and handoff and then leave the game just to keep the streak going.

J

He can't throw the ball. If he goes out there just to continue the streak, he further confirms it is all about him. Let the streak end as it should, with some dignity.

70%.

I think that he will do whatever it takes to go out there, because at this point it IS all about him, and he wants that nice 300-game number for the streak.

Poll = flawed, don't see the option for Starts but doesn't playOh, wait... missed this the first read through:

Voted 30%, I think its a real long shot. He said he'd sit if that was in the best interests of the team, hopefully he holds to that, whichever way it goes.

Not that I give a crap what comes out of Michael Irvin's mouth, but when he AND Deion AND Warren are saying he WILL play and that he just loves the extra attention and Mooch can't even disagree with them... ? I voted 80% chance he plays.

How is this a Favre poll and 4 is not an option? I think he sits and uses this to show people he cares about the integrity of the game. It is up to you to decide if you buy it or not.

I vote 4% but will enter 10% because you never say never.

As per Rotoworld:

ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Brett Favre's 297-game consecutive starts streak will end tonight against the Giants.

I voted 100% starting... he can hobble out, hand off to ADP, then retire to the bench... that should be enough to KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE!

That is after all the only contribution he has left at this point (right)? Three games left in his hyper-extended career on a team that will be home for the play-offs.

That would be a cheesey way to extend the streak. It kind of cheapens the streak.

As an aside, I never understood why The Streak only included regular season starts, not postseason starts. He's never missed a postseason game in his career either, so if you include posteason starts, his streak is already well over 300.

I personally think it's a bad move for the Vikings to continue to indulge this. I don't think anyone feels Favre gives them the best chance to win at this point.

I've wondered that too. There is a video clip somewhere of him laughing about that where he's asking another player or coach why not count them all.As far as doing a token start and then leaving the game, I'd be really surprised to see him do that. Just doesn't seem his style at all. I do wonder a little about how he seems to be going out of his way to let folks know he's not playing. Seems like a setup... We'll see soon enough.J

Hasn't the entire last month of Favre's contribution been about extending THE STREAK?No offense to Vike's fans, but once it went bad... this season's been nothing but cheese
