**Monday Night Football - Eagles 6-2 at Packers 5-2-1**(-1, 46) 8:15 (13 Viewers)

why did Gipson pick that up?
No reason not to. Once the ball is touched by the punting team, the ball can only be advanced. If he fumbled and GB recovered and ran for a TD, it would be irrelevant, the ball would go to Philly where GB touched it.

So he makes a deliberate football move backwards into the end zone like he did and it's copasetic?

I want to look that up.
he's right....I forgot that nuance you so rarely see it happen

SECTION 5 - SAFETY

ARTICLE 1. SAFETY

It is a Safety:

  1. when the offense commits a foul behind its own goal line and the defense elects to enforce the penalty at that spot (see also 14-2-2-b); or
  2. when an impetus by a team sends the ball behind its own goal line, and the ball is dead in the end zone in its possession or the ball is out of bounds behind the goal line.

No, that's wrong. Its a dead ball that can only be advanced by the return team. A Safety is impossible, a turnover is impossible. Its a dead ball for the kicking team, and returnable for the return team.

dude....wrong rule. when kicking team touches the ball first it's technically a foul. the receiving team can do anything with it from there and if they dont like the result can elect to accept the penalty....which is a dead ball where the kicking team touched it. the only caveat to the rule is it can be over-ridden by a personal foul. Gipson could pick it up dance back into the end zone and get tackled, or fumble it and turn it over at the 5...wouldnt matter, Eagles would have kept the ball where the kicking team touched it. It is absolutely the rule...you just almost never see it, like the elusive drop kick

I can't wait for next week when the Lions pound the Eagles. Until they get AJ Brown involved the Eagles are just an average team.. Sorry!

The NFC is loaded and these two teams were 2nd and 3rd coming into tonight
Eagles won a Super Bowl last year, appeared in 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls and currently are closing in on a 7-2 record to kick off the 2025 season
But yeah the Eagles are just average while they are pitching a shutout tonight

Of course Smith gets the End Zone target. Those of you who have him, yay! But it's just salt in the wounds for those of us with Brown.
I have him in a league I’m already up 200-130, so totally irrelevant.

In the league I only have AJB I’m up 3 and my opponent has Doubs. 😬
I've got this week wrapped up... I had it wrapped up yesterday. So it's also irrelevant to my week. But I still want to put points up. It can make a difference in my league's standings.
