Is that how we are judging if DPI calls are bunk or not? Based on what might have or might not have happened the last 1:40 of regulation with a team loaded at the skill positions?

no MOP, but you're acting like its a foregone conclusion the Lions would have scored a TD with one more chance, and the game clearly indicated that that was very unlikely. And again, as bad as that call was (and it was terrible) the Eagles also had a couple drives ended by bad calls....remember the "false start". Refs didnt cost the Lions the game, they cost them one more desperation drive when Lions showed no ability to drive the ball all game, and especially in the second half

Say, remember when the Lions scored a TD on 2 plays with passes to ARSB & Jamo in about 30 seconds? That happened in this game against this defense.

It was a 1-score game. And while it's not guaranteed the Lions would have scored, it absolutely guaranteed they wouldn't score with that obviously bogus phantom penalty denying them the opportunity to even take the field.

Can’t even believe that call. We had a great finish that we were robbed of.

He's the guy in your league that keeps throwing trades out there and occasionally makes a really good one that everyone remembers. No one remembers that 3rd for Golden Tate or the 4&6 for Kevin Byard or 4th for Robert Quinn or 4th for Genard Avery.

But when you hit (3rd for Phillips or a 4th for Jay Ajayi in 2017) it looks real good. Maybe the lesson is trade with Miami in season.

Look, we ALL agree it was a terrible call....it really was. Detroit should have gotten the ball back. The difference here is most of us realize it didn't really matter. Some of us further note that this same crew called a false start and an illegal block that were both weak/incorrect and ended eagles drives. The crew in this game didnt do a very good job, but that's neither unusual for the NFL nor is it news.

That call was NOT the reason Detroit lost, period. It was the reason they didn't have a last minute desperation heave to try to force OT. Huge difference.

The Lions still had to opportunity to get the ball back after that play but proceeded to give up another 1st down to Philly.

Look the call was bad. But I heard today Goff was 2 for his last 20 attempts. They were out of timeouts and could not stop the pass rush, all of his throw seemed hurried.

Should Goff had had a chance? Sure. I've said time and again officiating is just bad in the NFL, people pick certain moments to magnify this fact.

But the probability of what we saw and what we know, of Goff + Co. going downfield to tie the game up? I'd say less than 2-3% tops.

It just wasn't Goff's night, obviously, the stats bear that out - the career worst completion %, the 5 PBUs by DTs, the hurries/hits. Just a rough night.

If you go back and look at my OP this exchange is based off of, I never said it was the reason they lost, nor did I ever say they were guaranteed to score if they had that drive.

One person in our friend group at the game is a Lions fan. He predicted that the Lions would score at the end of regulation to make it 16-15, and then Campbell would go for 2 and fail.

100%. I was pissed that we didn’t get a chance at free football. With the way the Eagles D played, my money would have been on the Eagles stopping them.
