They are in Tampa tonight. FTR, outdoor venues are much better than indoor. I went to an indoor one once, and it was like getting fumigated by burnt rubber when they did donuts on the concrete.
Yea we did 2 indoor and I think the next one will be an outdoor. Just the closest is the Meadowlands in NJ which is a good 2+ hours away.
At least this time they brought dirt in for this one. We had crazy seats, 1st row in the end zone, so the trucks were literally right below us. I didn't plan it that way, I thought I had 5th row, but when we got there, they had the 1st 4 rows blocked off with a tarp all the way around the arena.
Only other downside is it looked to me like it was all fixed for Grave Digger to win. He's a damn good driver, but I thought some events there were better runs but he still won. Then when they were racing on the quads and mini's, it seemed like guys who were winning would make a silly move or something to let GD catch up and pass them
Lastly, I was impressed with the amount of women drivers in the events, but man, they sucked. I was kind of excited to see them compete with the men, but there was no competition. I think including them set women drivers back instead of forward after watching them.
But the kids had a blast.
Side note:
My kids made signs for their fav truck b/c last time we went (about 3 years ago), if a driver won an event, he would drive around and find a kid with his sign and hop up in the stands and give the kid something. But that didn't happen this show. However it was cool, bc i posted them with their signs on Instagram and the driver of the Zombie truck liked it (yea social media). Then afterward, the drivers were signing autographs but the line was insanely huge. I had my son on my shoulders holding his sign, walking past and he yelled for the zombie driver. He got his attention and he must have recognized the sign, because he asked for it and signed it for him w/o having us wait on the line. It was pretty cool.
