I think that is the way that web site re-packaged the original article ..."Morency emerges as Pack's No. 1 ball carrier"Where did you read that in the story?LOL It's just mini-camp. I'll wait until August to see who will emerge. I think it will be two to carry the load anyway.
The title of the article reads: "Versatile Morency emerges as Pack's No. 1 ball carrier." That may be where he got it from."Morency emerges as Pack's No. 1 ball carrier"Where did you read that in the story?LOL It's just mini-camp. I'll wait until August to see who will emerge. :(and where is Jackson this weekend? It must be settled ....
Great heads up that Morency already has it wrapped up. You guys who took that pretender rookie with the 4th pick can now feel free to cut him ASAP and make room for your second defense. Ain't FF easy when you have all the answers in May?:(and where is Jackson this weekend? It must be settled ....
from the original SI article used above:Morency also could be benefiting from Jackson's absence this weekend. Jackson was required to attend a promotional event in Los Angeles with several other top draft picks this year.wannabee said:and where is Jackson this weekend? It must be settled ....

he posted some re-packaged news. If it was the original SI article at first, there would be less confusion. That is where the confusion came from. It said it was written by someone other than SI. The link has been changed ... thankfully.gman8343 said:The title of the article reads: "Versatile Morency emerges as Pack's No. 1 ball carrier." We're all aware that it's May, and Morency being #1 now means very little.
He isn't there, so the headline basically amounts to: "Morency has early lead over Noah Herron in RB race."Good to know, but the more interesting battle will be between Morency and Jackson.wannabee said:and where is Jackson this weekend?
I fail to see why it is obvious that it is not a competition.I find it interesting that in the "Jackson's job to lose" thread, we didn't find a reaction like this... most of the sentiments there were: Morency sucks. Obviously it is Jackson's job for the taken. But now that we see a thread from the opposite point of view everyone is jumping down this guy's throat.
Can't be the fact that it is the "Overvalue Rookies" time of year or anything?
If you're a bargin shopper searching for "value"... it looks like Morency is the buy over Jackson. Think of a slower, less skilled, less depended on version of Deuce and Reggie Bush last year.I find it interesting that in the "Jackson's job to lose" thread, we didn't find a reaction like this... most of the sentiments there were: Morency sucks. we must have been watching a different guy. To me Morency has tons of upside. He's a duel threat and has solid speed. His only problem last season was putting the ball on the carpet. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wins the job and puts up solid all around numbers.I look at it this way. We have seen Morency in a limited role and he seems to have very little upside. Guys who creep around like he has don't suddenly become super studs overnight. Has he really flown enough flashes to get anyone excited about this fantasy value?I think it is boom or bust with Jackson by default from a fantasy perspective. If Morency wins that job then the Pack is in trouble and the running game will be pedestrian at best.![]()
OK...let me put my scout hat on.I think Mornecy is your classic "change of pace" back. He has the speed to break one for a TD anytime he touches the ball, but he lacks the toughness to be an every down back. He also doesn't have experience in the Packers zone blocking scheme and I don't believe his running style is suited for it. He isn't a very patient runner and often fails to let his blocks develop in front of him. It is VERY difficult to change a back's style of running because it is something that is instinctive. Once a back starts having to think back there, then they become indecisive and the game speed in the NFL doesn't allow that.we must have been watching a different guy. Didn't the Slack trade Gado for Morency because he better fit the ZBS than Gado did last year?Morency did not too shabby in with this offense last year spelling Ahman Green also.96 carries 434 yards 4.5 YPC 2TD 17 catches 118 yards 6.9 YPCI think Brandon Jackson is going to be better than him but Morency isn't garbage.
You're right in that Gado was definately not the right fit in that scheme and Morency ran in a different version of the zone scheme in college. So I think the Packers coaching staff thought Morency could pick up their "west coast" version of the zone and be productive, but he is still struggling a bit. Here is an article from back in March with McCarthy commenting on Morency's style of running:--------------------------------------------------Didn't the Slack trade Gado for Morency because he better fit the ZBS than Gado did last year?

both of those scores came in the same game (against Detroit).... for whatever that's worthEl-Gato's scouting report is pretty accurate... it's also sounds like what a lot of scouts say about Brandon Jackson.Didn't the Slack trade Gado for Morency because he better fit the ZBS than Gado did last year?

I fail to see why you didn't mock his poor english.Job for the TAKING....not "taken". No you weren't. Your just the LHUCKS pimp. Get over yourself and actualy DO somthing worth crowing about.People forget how young/green Brandon Jackson is...he'll be part of a committee at best his rookie year.Trust me, I was the original Brandon Jackson pimp on this board.

Morency may not be all world, but unlike Barlow, Morency actually has talent . . .This looks like Barlow/Gore in year 1 for Gore while he gets his feet wet.Famous line from Barlow last year a week or 2 before the draft with some noise that the 49ers could take a RB: "Me and Frank got it covered...."HA! More like Frank's going to take my job. ha!I see RBBC this year. Morency is better than he's being made out to be on this board.
