When Bill Clinton asked him about his comments, you know his response... "William, it was really nothing."
Did they have any thoughts on Adolf Hitler?Strangely enough, I (and someother FBGs) once saw a Joe Jackson cover band open for a Smiths/Morrisey cover band.
I believe they thought he was the man who gave us the yo-yo.Did they have any thoughts on Adolf Hitler?
He's a prophet who wrote the prescient treatise "November Spawned A Monster" decades before Trump became President.I'm old, who is Morissey and why should I give a ####?
Actually it’s about a person being born with a disability . Very dark, believe me , very dark songHe's a prophet who wrote the prescient treatise "November Spawned A Monster" decades before Trump became President.
I know who he is but why would I or anyone else care about his politics? Are we going to start a Ted Nugent, Eminem, and Megadeth thread too? If it’s in their music, cool. But random rants from musicians barely move the needle IMO.I'm old, who is Morissey and why should I give a ####?
It matters to scoop squistionI know who he is but why would I or anyone else care about his politics? Are we going to start a Ted Nugent, Eminem, and Megadeth thread too? If it’s in their music, cool. But random rants from musicians barely move the needle IMO.

Some people don’t like an opinionated outspoken gay man. Just sayingIt does seem like a good way to spam the forum with retweets.
Lucky for me I never ran into him.Fun Fact : Morrissey has lived in the LA area for over 20 years
:roarin:Good thing you clarified that, otherwise some people have thought you were referring to "Shoeless Joe" Jackson
Morrissey has never said that he is gay. If he is, he has never been outspoken enough to actually come out. Some people don’t like an opinionated outspoken gay man. Just saying
I would imagine he doesn’t hangout much with the bad hombres at the Home Depot parking lotLucky for me I never ran into him.
He's a celebrity. Some people cared when he refused to appear on Kimmel because that Duck Dynasty dude was on too.I know who he is but why would I or anyone else care about his politics? Isn't he huge with young Latinos? I'm pretty sure I've read about 25 pieces about that.I would imagine he doesn’t hangout much with the bad hombres at the Home Depot parking lot

Moz is a DIY guy but I believe like Lowe’s much better.About as much as Home Depot?
Heaven forbid making fun of a way a politician speaks.Morrissey went on to attack Mayor of London Mr Khan personally, saying he “cannot talk properly”.
He said: “The Mayor of London tells us about ‘Neighborhood policin’ - what is ‘policin’?
“He tells us London is an ‘amazin’ city. What is ‘amazin’? This is the Mayor of London! And he cannot talk properly!
“I saw an interview where he was discussing mental health, and he repeatedly said ‘men’el’… he could not say the words ‘mental health’. The Mayor of London!”
I believe he has referred to himself as asexual, but it’s been a while.Morrissey has never said that he is gay. If he is, he has never been outspoken enough to actually come out.

Did you forget what board you are on ?People can be politically/economically left or right but be socially the opposite. People can even be left on some social issues and right on others. People don’t all follow straight party platforms.
No reason to argue about it.
I'm considering a move to LAFun Fact : Morrissey has lived in the LA area for over 20 years
Gelatohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morrissey#Sexuality
Sexuality[edit]
Morrissey's sexuality has been the subject of much speculation and coverage in the British press during his career,[277] with claims varyingly being made that he was celibate, a frustrated heterosexual, or bisexual.[288] In a 1980 letter, he described both himself and his then-girlfriend as bisexual, although adding that he "hate[d] sex".[334]
During his years with the Smiths, Morrissey professed to being celibate, which stood out at a time when much of pop music was dominated by visible sexuality.[335] Marr said in a 1984 interview that Morrissey "doesn't participate in sex at the moment and hasn't done so for a while".[336] Repeatedly, interviewers asked Morrissey if he was gay, which he denied.[337] In response to one such inquiry in 1985, he stated that "I don't recognise such terms as heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, and I think it's important that there's someone in pop music who's like that. These words do great damage, they confuse people and they make people feel unhappy so I want to do away with them."[337] As his career developed, there was increased pressure placed on him to come out of the closet,[338] although he presented himself as a non-practicing bisexual.[339] In a 1989 interview, he revealed that he was "always attracted to men and women who were never attracted to me" and thus he did not have "relationships at all".[104] In 2013, he released a statement which said, "Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans. But, of course ... not many."[340]
In 1997, he revealed that he had abandoned celibacy and that he had a relationship with a Cockney boxer.[341] That person was revealed in his autobiography to be Jake Walters. Their relationship began in 1994 and they lived together until 1996.[342] In a March 2013 interview, Walters said, "Morrissey and I have been friends for a long time, probably around 20 years."[343] Morrissey was later attached to Tina Dehghani. He discussed having a baby with Dehghani, with whom he described having an "uncluttered commitment".[342][344] In his autobiography, Morrissey also mentions a relationship with a younger Italian man, known only as "Gelato", with whom he sought to buy a house around 2006.[345][346]
The Encyclopædia Britannica states that he created a "compellingly conflicted persona (loudly proclaimed celibacy offset by coy hints of closeted homosexuality)" which has "made him a peculiar heartthrob".[347] Speculation was further fuelled by the frequent references to gay subculture and slang in his lyrics. In 2006, Liz Hoggard from The Independent said: "Only 15 years after homosexuality had been decriminalised, his lyrics flirted with every kind of gay subculture."[348]
Come on man, I'm sorry to say so but that's a ridiculous assertion. I'm the biggest Smiths fan I know and I will always love their music, but much of what Morrissey says is completely indefensible and this strikes me as a deflection. The man's sexuality is irrelevant to any sincere conversation about his political views, which are hardly "extreme progressive," as you put it. Maybe there are homophobes out there who take this as an opportunity to jump on him because they care more about the fact that he's gay than the vile #### that comes out of his mouth, but I can't imagine there's a lot of overlap between that crowd and people who don't actually agree with the trash opinions he spews. It's too bad because I support him generally on his views about animal welfare but he really couldn't be a worse representative for that particular movement.HellToupee said:btw a lot of Morrissey bashing is actually thinly veiled gay bashing
I've read some things that the door isn't completely shut. I think it will happen. They'd sure make boatloads of money. It's killed any hope I ever had of a Smiths reunion,
I knew there was a positive out of this. It's killed any hope of a Smiths reunion
Morrissey & The Smith’s had nothing to do with goth.I knew there was a positive out of this.
Seriously, I’m not surprised at all that this dude is such an idiot. He is arguably the most pretentious and annoying artist in the history of popular music. I blame him, much more than Robert Smith (nearly as pretentious but at least with some musical ability) for the entire whiny “goth” movement of moody eternally whiny sensitive dudes wearing black eyeliner and screaming that they need to be loved.
I do like Johnny Marr though. Much better without that whiny idiot.
Yeah whatever I don’t care. It was his attitude, lack of vocal ability, and general whiny ness that encapsulates the scene.Morrissey & The Smith’s had nothing to do with goth.
hth
Yeah whateverYeah whatever I don’t care. It was his attitude, lack of vocal ability, and general whiny ness that encapsulates the scene.
Is that Lou Reed in your avatar? Change that; you don’t deserve Lou Reed. You need someone more whiny.Yeah whatever![]()
But you’re wrong
No one would confuse him with Sinatra, but that is an overly harsh criticism. His vocals were a good fit for the Smiths and his subsequent solo work.Yeah whatever I don’t care. It was his attitude, lack of vocal ability, and general whiny ness that encapsulates the scene.
Why yes, yes it is. It’s from the cover of Transformer. A top 5-10 album for me. Incidentally Lou wasn’t a bull####ter and wouldn’t like some of your music takesIs that Lou Reed in your avatar? Change that; you don’t deserve Lou Reed. You need someone more whiny.
Don’t kid yourself; he’d love them all (except when I’d be forced to tell him what a total piece of crap Metal Machine Music was; he wouldn’t like that.)Why yes, yes it is. Reed seemed to dislike Republicans and conservatives while being a fan of Michael Moore:Why yes, yes it is. It’s from the cover of Transformer. A top 5-10 album for me. Incidentally Lou wasn’t a bull####ter and wouldn’t like some of your music takes
Metal Machine really did suckDon’t kid yourself; he’d love them all (except when I’d be forced to tell him what a total piece of crap Metal Machine Music was; he wouldn’t like that.)
A don’t give a rats ### what his political leanings were. Vive la difference! I can’t name one musical artist beside Johnny Ramone that was a conservative, I don’t care. I’m socially liberal, who gives a crap.Reed seemed to dislike Republicans and conservatives while being a fan of Michael Moore:
https://hollowverse.com/lou-reed/
However, Lou was incredibly outspoken regarding the Bush Administration; as he once said:
The Bush administration, they and all the other Republicans and CIA before us got us into this mess we’re now in, and it’s their duty since the naive and easily strong right manipulative people elected them that they got us out of it. History in America we always have these old fashioned conservatives who use war as a profit and send a whole generation of young men to murder other poor people.7
Later in the interview, Reed mentions filmmaker Michael Moore and how he is trying to “open our eyes” by researching important political subjects.8 So bias seems to be out the window. Any sort of positive mention of Michael Moore automatically aligns one with the political left. We’re going to call him a liberal. (Not really a stretch considering his involvement with New York’s progressive art scene in the 60s and 70s–Niko and Andy Warhol and all that.) As to whether he’s a Democrat? There’s no evidence to suggest that, but he’s certainly no Republican.
