Mort: Broncos interested in Jamal Lewis (2 Viewers)

When recent history and previous history point to Lewis' 2003 season being a blip on the radar, it amazes me how much people ignore the other 5 years of his career.
You're the one that seems to be ignoring his other seasons:2000 BAL 1364 4.4 6

2001 DNP

2002 BAL 1327 4.3 6

2003 BAL 2066 5.3 14

2004 BAL 1006 4.3 7 (in 12 games)

2005 BAL 906 3.4 3

One poor season where he struggled through an ankle injury and being in jail during the offseason. These numbers coming on a team with absolutely no passing game in any of his five seasons.
In 2005 the Raven's pass offense was #19 overall, which is hardly "no passing game". And the run offense was #21 overall.
they were #22 in passing ypg (193/game) but this was due more to the fact that they were losing nearly every game in the 2nd half and had to throw the ball. Believe me I watched all the Ravens games and their passing game was absolutely painful to watch. Most of their passing yards were garbage yards (while losing).

I'm curious about this recent unnofficial drug test failure. I think I only vaguely remember it or maybe I dont. When did this occur again?

I dont doubt his talent. I dont think he's too damaged. I wouldnt hesitate to put him into the top 5 for next season if Denver signed him.

Jam's 2003 season was most certainly the anomaly...how anyone can contend otherwise is

No question about it, but 1500 total yards and double digit TD's would not be too much of an improvement over his typical season in Baltimore. How do you think he would do as the feature RB in Denver?
Quite well. IF he was 100% healthy and motivated [difficult things to quantify until we see him in action this season], it would be hard not to project 1,400+ yards and 10+ TDs if he was a Bronco.

If Shanahan ever named a starting RB, what would you guys have to talk about?

First it's Anderson, then it's Bell, then Dayne, Ricky Williams and now Jamal Lewis... sheesh!

Thank god I just traded Bell.

What did you get for him?

They havent paid starters money to a running back in years. Anderson was given more of a fullback's pay and cut this year. They traded Portis largely in part to avoid paying him. I was one of the guys not on the Hearst bandwagon because his contract wasnt starter's money. If they bring a polished veteran like Ricky Williams or Jamal Lewis and sign him to a franchise contract, that guy is going to be the starter. End of the guessing game.

Too funny. It's not enough for Shanny to lie and obfuscate about his own RBs during the season. Now he's lying and obfuscating about other teams' RBs during free agency.

CURSE YOU SKELETOR!

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports free agent RB Jamal Lewis (Ravens) has been unable to reach a deal so far with the Baltimore Ravens. He will decide before the end of the day Sunday, March 12, if he wants to make a visit to the Denver Broncos.
