Only the people in Minnesota didn't like it and it's because the movie went over the top with the accent and sayings.FARGO
Shawshank was a great movie. I guess I just didn't get "The Big Lebowski" I haven't seen "there will be Blood".Lebowski and There Will Be Blood >>>>>>>> Shawshank
I somewhat agree with this. I've never wanted to watch it again. No Country for old men. Dumbest movie ever. People are suckered into liking it because of some "deeper meaning." Please...
I love Fargo. I grew up across the Red River from Fargo.Only the people in Minnesota didn't like it and it's because the movie went over the top with the accent and sayings.
the physics of comedy is surprise. the problem with hit comedies is that they become templates for comic styles. watching classic comedies decades on, therefore, is watching comedy without surprise. no surprise it don't hit with some folk.Maybe, but if you didn't grow up with them, I don't think they are that funny if you see them for the first time now.
Casablanca is just a miracle. Pretty much every line in it would be cool if you said it today and that's almost impossible 75 years on.I agree it's tough with older movies. It's sometimes hard to separate the story with the technology.
Citizen Kane is an old movie that's often been considered a classic, but I think it's complete trash. Hard to know if that's just my modern bias. But then I see Casablanca, which came out only a year later, and I consider it to be all time great.
that was JimmieB from NYC ...comin' in hard. call back anytime JimmieB.Dunkirk....WTF..?
.....15...25....35 Minutes.....i’m Out.!!
What a bunch of crap....Christopher Nolan....Blah Blah Blah..
30 minutes in I was begging to be strafed by the Luftwaffe.
Zero plot...crappy characters....I could of written a better script on my toilet..
Pretentious film making at its best.
Adding you to my ignore listThis thread is inspired by the “ worst movie you’ve ever seen” thread.
The big Lebowski is by far the most overrated film I can think of. I’m a huge coen brothers fan and I’ve seen Lebowski 5 or 6 times and I just don’t see why it’s so revered. I think it’s one of their weakest films.

You’ve been responding to my posts lately. Clearly you haven’t either. It took you until this??
Ibsen & Beckett; from Enemy of the People to Dante & the Lobster...Casablanca is just a miracle. Pretty much every line in it would be cool if you said it today and that's almost impossible 75 years on.
Kane is all about the moviemaking, about unlocking the power movies have to make things bigger than real. Folks were largely trying to capture life on film til then. Welles used light & perspective & bombast to add scale to human endeavour. More an achievement than an entertainment and, though i find it to work on both levels, i totally understand how it could be tedious to some.
Maybe it's part of being a Boomer, but i doubt i'll ever understand the perspective upon perspective of the generations on either side of me. Gimme Buxtehude, Giotto, Moliere, Mozart, Stephen Foster, Ibsen, vaudeville, Picasso, Dixieland, Nosferatu, Duchamp, swing, Beckett, Hank, O'Keefe, Berry, Beatles, Ferlinghetti, Lucy, Elvises Presley to Costello, MCs Biggie to Li'ls, Andrews Sisters to Avett Brothers. I want to understand each & every frikkin one of them IN CONTEXT to their times & mine. nufced
He mistakenly put his "ignore" on "ignore".You’ve been responding to my posts lately. Clearly you haven’t either.
I always found "The Princess Bride" overrated. It has about 5-6 funny lines and the sword fight scene was pretty good, but I never really got why it's considered a cult classic (and the 5-6 funny lines get quoted all the time; I'm probably setting myself up for an "Inconceivable!" reply).
Characters are all pretty uninteresting. They never really address that the "good guy" is some awful pirate who has been away murdering people. Buttercup seems kind of high maintenance and needy, and not really spousal material. 90% of the writer's intended jokes fall flat, and the writing is also kind of hacky, with characters doing things that no rational person would do, or knowing things that they have no way of knowing.
I know a lot of people love it though.
There's a handful of movies I remember being blown away seeing in the theater. This was one of them.Silence of the Lambs overrated? First time I ever heard even a whisper of that.
My girlfriend at the time and I went to see it at a local theater with no knowledge at all what it was even about (guess we just wanted to see a movie) - same experience. There's a handful of movies I remember being blown away seeing in the theater. This was one of them.
i really wanted to love this flick because i reallyreallyInception
I am the Brute Squad.Someone call the Brute Squad.![]()
Me as well, went in a slightly altered state of mind with no clue what the movie was about. Anthony Hopkins completely freaked me out, genius level acting there. My girlfriend at the time and I went to see it at a local theater with no knowledge at all what it was even about (guess we just wanted to see a movie) - same experience.
I waited too long to see it and it was all hyped up. Really respect Nolan for being different and the scale of his movies, just didn't love this one.i really wanted to love this flick because i reallyreallyEllen Page, and i think Nolan is a very innovative cat ... but it fell short - i didn't dislike it, per se - but i can dig folks deeming it unworthy of it's (mostly) lofty praise.
PS- did i mention how much i love Ms. Page?![]()
Decent movie. Saw it once. Absolutely no desire to ever see it again.Inception
Not to mention that the history books totally spoiled the ending.Dunkirk....WTF..?

What the hell?Animal house is terrible... that's one that would be way up there for me. The others are at least decent

You two just made the list.
Did you see it early, or a few years later?Rhythmdoctor said:
Early. Braveheart is my favorite movie so that’s my measuring stick. To me, 300 was trying to be like Braveheart but just missed in so many ways.Did you see it early, or a few years later?
It's not great, but it blew me away visually... now everybody copied it and the one amazing thing about it is commonplace.
100% agree. awful dreckI always found "The Princess Bride" overrated.
