The lord Jehovah has given unto you these fifteen... [drops stone tablet] Oy. Ten! Ten commandments for all to obey!History of the World Part I
I considered several others that have been mentioned but I don't think Airplane and Caddyshack have aged well and while I love Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I don't find it has the rewatchability of the four above - which was one of my biggest thought processes for this.

Comicus: Have you heard of this new sect, the Christians? They are a laugh riot! First of all, they are so poor...Jesus...The lord Jehovah has given unto you these fifteen... [drops stone tablet] Oy. Ten! Ten commandments for all to obey!History of the World Part I
What?
It's good to be the king.
No, and the lawsuits afterwards were almost as funny as the movie.Has Borat been mentioned?
That nude wrestling match or whatever was a riotHas Borat been mentioned?
Bad News Bears
Spaceballs
Fletch
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
40-Year Old Virgin
Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Dazed And Confused this is a comedy?
Happy Gilmore
Ghostbusters was awesome in the theaters when it first came out, and I still like it a lot, but when thinking about all of these other comedies I have mentioned, I just can't put it ahead of any of them. If I had to do, say, a top 50, it would likely make it, but would be somewhere in that 35-50 range. So many I forgot about. Guess that's why they aren't on Mt Rushmore.

Didn't quote a post but Fast Times at Ridgemont High is another one.
Surprised Ghostbusters is on here. Sure, it's comedic, but I guess I think of it as more of a blockbuster. And it came out in the most blockbustery summer of All-time, 1984.
Most of those were playing at the same time. It was an incredible summer at the box office.
- Beverly Hills Cop
- Ghostbusters
- Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom
- Gremlins
- The Karate Kid
- Police Academy
- Footloose
- Purple Rain
- The Natural
- Revenge of the Nerds

Doing the same at the local theater.Going to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the theater tonight for its 50th anniversary release.
Or if that isn't an option, how about take two cans of tuna.? When done eating those, as one does at a movie, you could use those. You should bring two hollowed out coconut halves!Going to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the theater tonight for its 50th anniversary release.
Interesting. I thought it was an ok movie but I would never put it high up on the list of comedies when I think of ranking them. It would be pretty far down. One of my absolute favorite comedies is Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, and Joan Cusack in My Blue Heaven.
I like Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenennbaums better.
In that order.
Sweet......none of mine made the list.So I went through and tallied up the votes. Note that I only counted those that gave an actual top 4. If you added a 5th or more, your entire list was ignored unless the top 4 were ranked somehow.
There are only 4 that cracked the double digits and nothing else got more than 7 votes, so the official FFA Mount Rushmore of comedies is:
The honorable mentions go to Dumb and Dumber & Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
- Animal House
- Airplane
- Blazing Saddles
- Caddyshack
I'm on board with the system you used to find these. Good work.So I went through and tallied up the votes. Note that I only counted those that gave an actual top 4. If you added a 5th or more, your entire list was ignored unless the top 4 were ranked somehow.

I'm also kind of amused/not really shocked all four of those movies all came out with a few years of one another. In 100 years of movies, the top 4 comedies all came out in 1974, one in '78, and two in '80.
1 out of 4 ain't bad. Though I don't think Blazzing Saddles is that good and I still think My Cousin Vinny is excellentThere are only 4 that cracked the double digits and nothing else got more than 7 votes, so the official FFA Mount Rushmore of comedies is:

Proof the FFA has terrible taste in movies!!So I went through and tallied up the votes. Note that I only counted those that gave an actual top 4. If you added a 5th or more, your entire list was ignored unless the top 4 were ranked somehow.

This makes a lot of sense. I don't like his movies much at all, but Rushmore is the exception.I like Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenennbaums better.
In that order.I’m a big Wes Anderson fan but think Rushmore is vastly overrated. For me it’s in the bottom half of WA movies
