Hit 223.0 today...down from 247. Still in a race with a buddy to 210. I have two weddings out of town (Boston, MA and Destin, FL) the last two weeks of April that will be a challenge. My goal is to get to 210 in 3 weeks (25th/26th when I leave for 2nd wedding in FL). Boston wedding will be in and out of town so It will be easier to "behave". Destin, I am in the wedding and we're getting this insane 8BR house on the water for 4 nights... bachelor party..etc. Going to be impossible to not pack a few on during that trip. 13lbs in 3 weeks. Will likely have to "Cut weight" to make it. Maybe shoot for 216 legit then cut weight the last 2 days to hit 209.X before leaving. :unsure:Final goal is to break 200 but will start lifting weights again once I win/lose my bet. Vegas in late July. No reason I can't be a relatively cut 200lbs by then
Start lifting now, but do 20x5 sets instead of 8x5 max sets.

Just signed up. Journey started about 2 months ago, and have lost some weight already. Not it's time to get serious and really shed the weight.

I have requested a couple of you guys already, ones I found in the last few pages. Please request me at: JShar24.

Thanks to everyone in the thread for the motivational stories and tips along the way.

Doing mostly cardio right now (jogging and light weight tabata-esque workouts). trying to build endurance a bit. "training" for running a 5k this spring with a buncha folks who are pretty decent runners.

I've hit my goal weight from 210 to 184 (I'm 6'1"). Started after New year's, so this took me 3 months, much faster than I would have imagined, as I had it set to 1 pound a week, and lost 2 every week on average. Thank you so much for the recommendation of this app. My plan is to keep using the app to maintain my weight. I just got an extra 500 calories a day!! Does that seem right? I'm nervous that this seems like a whole bunch and I will start creeping upward again.
If you set it at max weight loss it gives you 1200 calories a day, 1lb a week something like 1600 calories and maintenance around 2000 calories a day. I tried doing that but it doesn't work for me. I'm not mentally able to not eat so I leave it at 1200, run my ### off and typically eat over my allowance everyday by a certain number of calories. It's stupid I know but I dropped 40+ lbs doing that so I'm sticking with it and that's the real goal. Promote a healthy lifestyle change and stay with it.

I"m thinking of ditching primal and going back to calorie counting. Anyone made this decision or a similar decision?

Who's JShar24? Just got added by them.
One of the guys above identified himself as JShar.

Fun with math and booze:

- I've had at least one drink on 56 of the last 70 days. Surprisingly, I haven't had any today.

- Booze accounts for 21% of my caloric intake over that time.

- On Super Bowl/coshole weekend, beer accounted for 57% of my caloric intake.

- I've dropped from 176 to 167 over those 70 days.

If it wasn't for MyFitnessPal, I wouldn't have access to this great information.

Hit 160 down a couple days ago. Feel awesome and my legs got so trim I got my first tattoo last week... At 38 years old!

Over Easter I fell off the wagon a little. Needed another source of motivation. Got it with a Biggest Loser contest at work.

I'm rejuvenated and back in the game in a big way! BTW, the FBG support I am getting on MFP is amazing. Thank you guys so much.

Been a while since I've updated. Bad news.. didn't hit my 210 goal before florida... good news Is I lost 1lb while there so it didn't set me back. Currently at 210.8 this morning. Down from 247.4 in february. I'm exactly 1lb off from my 209.8 needed to win the bet ($500 net swing). Downside is tonight is when BBQfest starts... a 4 day festival of eating smoked pork products and drinking like a sot. So... I'm making a run at 209.8 today. I'm not eating anything this morning and only sipping on a little coffee mixed with fiber to "move things along". Even without a dump I think I can get to 209.8 without consuming much. With a dump it's a lock. If I'm not there by 12:00 when I get home, I'm heading to the river to spend 1-2 hours lugging kegs and setting up the bar. Still will continue fast and will drink as litle water as possible. No chance I don't peg 209.8 after that. THEN, I join Tipsy and some guys on the team for a late lunch of Gus's world famous fried chicken and a 40 of budweiser to celebrate. :banned:

After the fest the plan is to keep on with good eating habits, hit the gym hard and begin to put on some good muscle after cutting a ton of fat. Next goal weight is 197 (to say I've lost 50lbs). Ideally I'll at least have SOME semblance of a six pack when I fly out to Vegas in late July for my buddy's bachelor party.

For me, to undergo that transformation from a 250lb tub of goo in Feb to a sub 200lb guy wtih single digit body fat in 6mo... that would be huge for me.

We will see how it goes!

About Me

I don't really understand your calorie counting ways, or your system of eating in moderation. I'm just a caveman... I fell on some ice, and later got thawed out by scientists. Your delicious fast foods, pizzas and beers both tantalize and confuse me. But there is one thing I do know - I have overindulged in your edible goodness and have packed on enough weight to get me through three ice ages. This has to stop.

Welcome sir. Looks like you're already making some progress (based on the MFP Friend add)

Quick update for me: I am down about 8 lbs and am within 5 of my original weight. I've had 3 really bad days of eating but am going back on track today.

Already freinds. I meant [icon].

I quit logging for a bit. I got a real good idea of my baseline calorie intake. I'll be using it shortly to gain, rather than lose while doing insanity.

Quick update for me: I am down about 8 lbs and am within 5 of my original weight. I've had 3 really bad days of eating but am going back on track today.
Are you iamsmilin over there as well?
I don't actually have a user name over there. I don't know what the "groups" look like, but I do NOT want people knowing my weight and what I eat. :bag:
lol You don't have to show your weight and you can close your daily log. I was just curious because I thought there was someone on the message boards over there with that name, and they didn't look like what I thought I knew of you.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this a place to post about the MFP app or about general fitness accomplishments/goals?

Interesting. Now I wonder what that iamsmilin looks like....

Just got the Fitbit One. Basically a pedometer on steroids that links up to MyFitnessPal. You move more and the fitbit sends more calories to your MFP account. Makes sense right? This thing actually lets you see how much of lazy ******* you are or how active you are. Pretty damn cool.

Just searched for her, but it appears the name must have been similar, not identical. I can't find the user now. Will report back...

Ive been looking at these. I have the Nike Fuel band and it's not really satisfying me. Is the sleep wrist band comfortable? Do you keep this in your pocket or the clip?

Got my girl the bodybugg by bodymedia. That thing rules. Measures sweat, body temp, motion, sleep (quality and duration)... And 100pct interacts with MFP. Rules. HIGHLY recommended.

Oh and I hit my 209.6 goal to win the bet.. Texted the guy that I won and he replied "lol oh man I won 2 weeks ago I just forgot to tell you". <_<

Not sure if I should pay him the 250, demand my 250 for being first to notify of the win... Or call it a null bet due to schenanigans.

Regardless... Eating like an ####### at bBQfest. Will definitely have to reel it back in again starting Monday and get back on track.... But this festival is like christmas to me so I'm enjoying myself as a reward for gettin to first goal (210 from 247).

Had a Fitbit, lost a Fitbit, found a Fitbit, lost it again. The thing is rather small and I often forgot it was attached to my clothes (clipped to my pocket). If I kept it in my pocket the results where not very accurate.

I keep it clipped on my belt. That new clip is really strong. When I play basketball, I clip it onto the pocket, not in the pocket. I find it to be very accurate.

I'm back on... dropped 25 pounds 2 years ago to the 172-177 area, but went to 181 last week. Business trips are killers.

Started using this as a motivational tool for my clients. I have to say, the sugar expectations are ridiculous. Three servings of fruit, bam, over. That's just dumb.

Only real criticism though. My clients that use this tool usually have more success, so I'm requiring all to do it now.

Still holding at my first goal (210ish). Back on the wagon now as hoping to approach 200 before a vegas trip on July 18th (5 weeks, doable). Going to be adding in some weight training so may stall that a touch.. we'll see. Overall very pleased with results so far... down nearly 40lbs. Have found several very nice shirts that I had purchased but never was able to fit in. They now fit great and love em.

Pushing onward!

I've been tracking on this for a while, but haven't put much effort into it. I just started another attempt at P90X, so I'm going to try to crank it up again. Current at 183, goal would be to get down to 160 again, and then focus on adding lean weight. I've gotten down to 160 previously, but failed at gaining lean weight, so I worked my way back to where I started.

I am 1 lb from my original goal weight! Woot! Man, now that I am there I can totally see the difference. Hopefully now that I have a scale, I will keep from bouncing around too much.

Won some biggest loser cash at work dropped 22.6 in 7.5 weeks. Hoping to maintain now. Most was just jogging 3 times a week and staying under calorie goal 80 percent of the days.

Tied to tell you guys, the only way this works is of you do it every single day. You can't take time off because you think you can maintain. Invariably those who do, don't. Stay with it and it works, good luck man!

I'm halway through this and now a little lost about where to go. Dropped from 182 to 160 over the last several months with the invaluable assistance of MFP. I'm ready to focus on the lean muscle part but I'm not sure what to do.

Well, if you figure it out, let me know.

I'm 40, and have always been skinny. I've tried several times and several different stages of my life (high school, college, 20s) to put on muscle weight, but I never could. I got discouraged and gave up each time. I think at 40 I can finally realize I'm not going to ever be a muslce bound buff dude with a six pack, but just being in good enough shape to be able to take my shirt off at the beach and be comfortable is a good enough goal.

Hey guys,

Been on MFP for about 3 weeks and just found this thread. Please feel free to add me as a friend there. Surprisingly, I am Parmcat.

I am down about 12 lbs since I started. I am doing 2 protein shakes a day, as meal replacement, but I have really made a dramatic lifestyle change with eating, and so far, I really am enjoying it.

The best news so far, is I stopped taking my diabetes meds (type 2),, and my sugar reading are DRAMATICALLY lower throughout the day.

Anyway....I hope be able to chat to some of you

Parm

PS- I am using the GNC Mega Man Maximum Nutrition protein powder

That's pretty much my goal at 38. I graduated high school at 175, got up into the low 220s. Lost 40 pounds about five years ago and then 20 more this year.

If you want to gain strength and put on muscle, start a simple weight program like starting strength or something similar. Make sure you get enough protein.
